I have a desktop and a laptop. Both Windows 7
If I try to access files on desktop I am asked for a password. When I put in the password which is the same as that in the windows vault on both computers I am toldit is incorrect.
It may be wanting aassword for the computer rather than the workgroup but I cannot sort it out.
I was told networking was easy on windows 7 but its much harder that when my desktop was XP and laptop vista!
i cant seem to log on as administrator anymore,, password not recognized.what do i do ?

Two laptops / home premium / windows 7.Now when I try to access it I am prompted for a Network user name and password, the same promt giving details of my domain. This is not my homegroup password, I know where and how to find / use it. I have renamed pc's tried setting up homegroup again etc etc. Incidently I cant change the share options on any of my folders now, they are all locked to 'Nobody'.Can anyone help as it appears to have support from Microsoft for their product I'll have to pay pardon my igronance but if I sold a product with constant updates I wont charge for the support.

4 PCs - One Vista, 2 Windows 7 Home Premium, 1 Windows 7 Ultimate. All see each other. All have appropriate folders shared.
Try accessing A from B and I get "Enter Network Password (to connect to B)". I never set one up to start with, so why is it asking me for it. How do I access/change something I never set?
Try accessing B from A - I see the PC, and the folders I want but trying to access them results in "You do not have permissionto access folder names Contact your network administrator - who he? Obviously me but I don't know what the answer is!
Trying similar things with the other two PCs in the mix results in various permutations of the same problem.
I have tried all the various links suggested through Networking and Help, but most of the actions seem to be boxes to click to make the PCs try to sort themselves out. When it fails I can't find a manual way of trying to sort it out.
Any suitable tutorials that may help? Couldn't see any.
I am getting reports in windows and device manager of an unknown device attached to computer, but there are no devices attached. Hardware error has been ruled out by a computer technician but still get messages. (screenshots attached)

I have a new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX150 and an old Canon camera.
According to Panasonic the driver for their camera is incorporated in 7. I tried the canon and there was no problem downloading.
The Lumix down loads perfectly on the laptop without any drivers being added.
When I try to download the Lumix to the computer all I get is
"one of the usb devices has malfunctioned and windows does not recognise it"
When I check the message it says "Unknown device. (check connections) If windows still does not recognise it replace the device"
Why does it work with the laptop and not the computer? Panasonic are no help once I said it worked on the laptop.
i have a sony vaio fw21 e ..with optiarc bc 5500 S... recently i have installed windows 7 64 bit build 7600... .. now windows can t play blu ray disc..cd and dvd are working perfect..only blue ray it doesnt work .. ..i put a blu ray disc inside.. makes a weird sound( that sound like the disc is broken ) , and it says in my computer no disc.

I have set aside a 20GB partition and i'm wanting to make a fresh instal, not fussed about keep XP. I have 2 internal hard drives @ 149GB each. But, Win 7 fails to recognise them even when i have set a partition on the empty HD! It says something like 'setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate existing system partition ' What does this mean?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've recently purchased a Zoomstorm PC and am running Windows 7 professional. I was happily going along when the dvd driver stopped being seen. It is there in the BIOS. I have checked the SATA cables, I have checked the filters in the regedit - I have even been on the MShelp forums and done all advised. But to no avail. The DVD does open and shut and I think mechanically it is fine. I do think that I am missing some kind of driver - that isn't supported by Windows 7. Although it was there initially. I can't re-install Windows 7 as its ...my DVD drive!! The DVD is a Samsung

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have 4 computers (3PCs and 1Laptop) on a home network (not a homegroup). All are connected to the same workgroup. All share the same internet connection. Up until last week, all of them had absolutely no issue sharing files or using the printer. Now however, my laptop will not connect to one of the PCs and that's the PC that is connected to our printer. Both the laptop and the printerPC are running the same version of Win 7 (Home Premium). The problem is connecting from the laptop to the printerPC I keep being asked for a "network password." I have file and printer sharing enabled and password protection disabled. Firewall and anti-virus are off. The strangest part is that my printerPC can access my laptop without passwords yet my laptop cannot access my printerPC without one and I've never even set up a login/password for network sharing to begin with so I don't really understand why this is happening or what's causing this because as I said earlier this wasn't a problem up until a week ago.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've set all the Advanced Sharing settings as I always do, with no password for sharing, Network discovery, sharing allowed, but one PC on this network insists on prompting for a Network password when trying to connect to the other. It stopped for awhile but is back to doing it again now, also apparently blocking sync via Skydrive Skyshell. Is there another setting I need to check which I'm missing?

Been reading some of the other threads and tried some of the settings offered and still nothing seems to work. I'm not understanding why I have to enter a network password and where its coming from. Obliviously its from Windows 7. Also I'm assuming the enter network password is for the homegroup? I don't even have homegroup setup or enabled. If it was once setup and then disabled will the password prompt still pop-up? I'm currently using the work network as the network location, with password protect sharing off and under Homegroup connections use User Account and passwords.
I have a windows server 03 running and all my comps can login with the 03 local account but windows 7 wont let me with out putting in a "Enter Network Password". I even tested this using XP on vmware bridged environment and it let me login. So I dont know what the deal is with Windows7.
I have four computer networked all using Win 7 Pro or Ultimate. I set up the network as prompted and set th user name and password. All computers are new to newer Dell running 64bit. Went to setup my HP Media Smart 6TB Server and everything just fine. After all setup everything worked off-line until I wanted to access the server. A Windows Security window opens requesting Network Password and User Name to connect to the HP Server. Well nothing I input does any good ALL my entries are rejected.
This is a total f.. k up as I know what I used for the main network and what I used for the HP Server but neither work. I have tried about everything I can think of and am still locked out. All else fails complete rest and reboot but just wondering if same problem someone else might have seen for answer.
I have got a Windows7 & Windows Vista machine seeing each other to a point, when I try to access a folder that I have the permissions setup correctly for on a Windows Vista computer, the Vista computer asks me for the Network Password when I enter in the Name and Password which is on Admin it won't connect

I had the installation program on my disk, but after re installing Win 7 I somehow have lost the installation program. It is an old one and therefore not awailable any more. I have the program installed on an disk partition, buit when clicking on the icon it tells me that window cannot find language.dll.I have the program installed on another Computer running XP, but it is very slow.Is there any way I can get into Window and install the missing file myself. Alternative would be to remove the XP disk from the old computer and install it on the newer computer, but I might get problem with having both XP and Win 7 running on the same computer.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a problem I hope someone can help with. I have an Iomega Prestige 1Tb USB HDD which is working fine. I have however just insstalled Windows 7 RC on an old PC to try it out. The installation went fine and I connected the USB HDD and copied over a number of files to help further set it up to meet my requirements with no problem.
I then installed drivers for my Speedtouch 330 USB Modem and now the USB HDD is not working. I have tried uninstalling the Modem Driver and uninstalling the USB HD Driver and then reconnecting but with no success. I continue to get a Windows 7 error message. The USB HDD is still working perfectly on my XP laptop.
I hope someone can suggest a solution before I try a complete Windows 7 reinstall?
Running Win 7/64 Home Premium. I have a Bluetooth USB dongle and on insertion Windows goes away and comes back saying it has found the driver and all is well but I cannot find a way for Win to recognise my BT headset. Is there a way to force a connection such as thepairing process for mobiles?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI attempted to upgrade my 64bit vista to windows 7 yesterday, and somehow managed to screw it up. After supposedly completing the upgrade my system restarted then told me the upgrade had failed and everything from my HDD was deleted. I then proceeded with a clean installation on my other HDD, everything went okay and it seemed fine until I restarted and it loaded vista again from my other HDD.I went into bios upon boot and tried to change the load order, however it would seem only one of my HDDs is recognised. Also, the vista HDD is now failing apparently (yay!) which I'm not too fussed about, I just want to get a working system again. I checked device manager to try and see whether my other HDD was recognised there and it is, however it would seem that both of my HDDs are exactly the same make/model. Presuming my vista HDD is on its way out, how can I sort my computer so that it boots from the 7 HDD.

(and hamachi2)I have tried to make a user (test) and the password (test, on that user).I have tried to share the folder, and just grant access for the test user.And I can see it if I use another computer, but I can`t access it.The other Pc I use, do not have the Test user installed, and that is the way I want it.I don`t want to add the user to all computers. I've never changed my password and it doesn't happen all the time, but right now it won't stop. I also deleted and re-added my account and it still won't stop.Also, not sure if this is related or not. After deleting my account and profile, I logged into my e-mail through the Outlook web app and it says "This account can't be used to access Outlook.com. You're currently signed in with an Office 365 email account, which can't be used with Outlook.com. Please click here to sign out of your Office 365 account, then use another Microsoft account to sign in to Outlook.com (for example, your hotmail.com, live.com, or msn.com account)." I clicked and logged in again and it says the same thing.
