Have a dilemma here about this "Enter Network Password" issue.
Been reading some of the other threads and tried some of the settings offered and still nothing seems to work. I'm not understanding why I have to enter a network password and where its coming from. Obliviously its from Windows 7. Also I'm assuming the enter network password is for the homegroup? I don't even have homegroup setup or enabled. If it was once setup and then disabled will the password prompt still pop-up? I'm currently using the work network as the network location, with password protect sharing off and under Homegroup connections use User Account and passwords.
I have a windows server 03 running and all my comps can login with the 03 local account but windows 7 wont let me with out putting in a "Enter Network Password". I even tested this using XP on vmware bridged environment and it let me login. So I dont know what the deal is with Windows7.

I use Outlook 2007 for my schools e-mail. Periodically, I get a popup window that says Enter Network Password. I've never changed my password and it doesn't happen all the time, but right now it won't stop. I also deleted and re-added my account and it still won't stop. Also, not sure if this is related or not. After deleting my account and profile, I logged into my e-mail through the Outlook web app and it says "This account can't be used to access Outlook.com. You're currently signed in with an Office 365 email account, which can't be used with Outlook.com. Please click here to sign out of your Office 365 account, then use another Microsoft account to sign in to Outlook.com (for example, your hotmail.com, live.com, or msn.com account)." I clicked and logged in again and it says the same thing.

I've always thought of networking as one of the black arts.
4 PCs - One Vista, 2 Windows 7 Home Premium, 1 Windows 7 Ultimate. All see each other. All have appropriate folders shared.
Try accessing A from B and I get "Enter Network Password (to connect to B)". I never set one up to start with, so why is it asking me for it. How do I access/change something I never set?
Try accessing B from A - I see the PC, and the folders I want but trying to access them results in "You do not have permissionto access folder names Contact your network administrator - who he? Obviously me but I don't know what the answer is!
Trying similar things with the other two PCs in the mix results in various permutations of the same problem.
I have tried all the various links suggested through Networking and Help, but most of the actions seem to be boxes to click to make the PCs try to sort themselves out. When it fails I can't find a manual way of trying to sort it out.
Any suitable tutorials that may help? Couldn't see any.

I've got a desktop computer with XP Pro SP3 and a laptop with both XP and Windows 7(dual-boot). These two computers are connected through a router in a network(desktop comp-wired, laptop-wireless). Everything works fine, except the sharing in Windows 7. From the desktop computer I can access all resources on the laptop without problems. From the laptop, everything works fine too, when I try to access the desktop computer's shared folders and printers, but ONLY FROM XP. Every time I want to do this from Windows 7, I'll be prompted for a "network password". I have no idea what I had to enter - I did a search over the internet, and found following suggestions:
-turn on network discovery, file and printer sharing, public folder sharing at the Advanced Sharing Settings, and disable password-protected sharing
-both computers are in the same workgroup
-disabled the limitation of blank passwords in the group policy editor
NOTHING WORKED. (firewall might not be the reason, because I use Windows Firewall, and it's configured to enable sharing)What username/password do I have to enter, or how could I access the resources without a password?

It is becoming such a hassle trying to play a game with a friend, when every 15 mins i get forcibly minimized to this box, and have died from it before. I have tried all the "fixes" regarding the user account and sharing part, none have worked, but somehow delayed the speed of the messages. Nothing has really changed lately, other than formatting a partition (but the messages appeared before this) Any suggestions? Also, it pops up on every program I use, my games, my browser, msn, etc. Wont let me click back on the program till I hit cancel

I've been using Outlook 2007 for a while with no problems. I used to select my account, and when the "Enter Network Password" box popped up it had the focus, so I would just immediately type in my password. I did a set of Windows and Office updates a couple of weeks ago, and now when that box pops up the focus is still on the main Outlook mail reader screen. I have to click the Password box to shift the focus so I can type in my password. Is there a way to restore this automatic focus for the Password panel when it pops up?

Just installed new router, linksys e3000. I'm on a Windows 7 box, wired, and connecting fine to the internet, and the Tivo and my ipod touch are connecting fine wirelessly. so far so good.I can see the router via 192.168.1.1 from my BROWSER and adjust settings etc, all as normal, and as with old routers I've had.... again, so far so good. The new router has a USB port, so I thought I'd see how that worked. Plugged in a USB HD to the port. The router recognizes it in its router admin setup pages under 192.168.1.1. So far so good.On the Windows 7 box, I go to "Network" and I see two things under "Computers". I see "WIN7PC" (my windows box) and I see "BOBNET" (the name I gave the router during setup). Clicking on WIN7PC I see my shared folders, as usual. Clicking on BOBNET, I get the prompt "Enter Network Password: Enter your password to connect to BOBNET (user box)(password box) domain WIN7PC "I've entered every combination of user and password I can think of, nothing lets me in.
- I have NO password associated with my Windows 7 user name "Bob".
- I tried "admin" and the router password, as if I was logging into the router via the browser. No joy.
- I'm not part of a "Homegroup" as this is the only Windows 7 box. My shared folders are seen by my wife's Macs, no password required.
- I tried removing the credentials, no joy.
Not sure if this is new with this router, as I never tried to get at it this way before, via "Network", not having the USB drive on the router before.

I have a customer with 2 Windows 7 Professional machines on the same network we'll call them System1 and System2. System1 can see system2 ok but when we try to access system1 from system2 I get the "Enter Network Password" popup. Now the strange thing is that sometimes it works. If I futz around with it enough it will start working but eventually it comes up with this error again. I've tried everything I know and followed numerous posts on how to rectify the issue but nothing seems to work. I have the same username and password on both machines and I have "Turn off password protected sharing" selected on both machines. Everything I try has no effect.

I bought W7 Ultimate edition a few days ago, and i tried to install it. after facing a lot of problems with the instalation ( had to take out all usb cables, also 2gb of ram so i have 1 left inside, in order to finish the instalation.) and now, finally, the instalation is finished. not to mention that somehow even though i chose to create the new copy of w7, my old XP is still installed.
Beside that, i finally installed w7, and once w7 starts, i enter the password, 5 sec passes, and the whole pc freezes. I Read a bit on the forums and seen that some people advised to download newest video drivers, but it didint help. In safe mode, it runs perfectyl, but outside the safe mode, nothing works.

Very strange issue on HP Elitebook 8440p running Windows 7 Pro - 32bit:
- Domain user logs in successfully after PC powers on
- Goes into Standby mode while still logged in
- Resumes from Standby by pressing the power button
- Gets to the login prompt by pressing Ctl-Alt-Del
- Begins entering password (which begins with an uppercase character), and is only able to enter *two* chars - after which all other keystrokes are ignored.
The only way to login is to force the machine to power cycle.

I have 4 computers (3PCs and 1Laptop) on a home network (not a homegroup). All are connected to the same workgroup. All share the same internet connection. Up until last week, all of them had absolutely no issue sharing files or using the printer. Now however, my laptop will not connect to one of the PCs and that's the PC that is connected to our printer. Both the laptop and the printerPC are running the same version of Win 7 (Home Premium). The problem is connecting from the laptop to the printerPC I keep being asked for a "network password." I have file and printer sharing enabled and password protection disabled. Firewall and anti-virus are off. The strangest part is that my printerPC can access my laptop without passwords yet my laptop cannot access my printerPC without one and I've never even set up a login/password for network sharing to begin with so I don't really understand why this is happening or what's causing this because as I said earlier this wasn't a problem up until a week ago.

I've set all the Advanced Sharing settings as I always do, with no password for sharing, Network discovery, sharing allowed, but one PC on this network insists on prompting for a Network password when trying to connect to the other. It stopped for awhile but is back to doing it again now, also apparently blocking sync via Skydrive Skyshell. Is there another setting I need to check which I'm missing?
