Maximizing / Minimizing Windows And Games In Slow Motion
Sep 28, 2012
I've had this problem for a while where occasionally when I boot up my laptop (Dell XPS), the windows would maximize and minimize in slow motion and all my games run in slow motion. A restart usually fixes the problem.I've looked for solutions in the past but the problem always comes back. I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the problem is or how to fix it.
recently the problem started to occur. Basically, the windows maximize and minimize slowly sometimes. When i restart the laptop the problem usually gets fixed.
- I recently updated my graphics cars as well : ATI Mobile Radeon 5600..
- Windows updates are automatic as well
Laptop Specs:
Sony Vaio E series Operating: Win 7 Home Premium (64 Bit) , i3 RAM: 4 GB
I've recently encountered a strange thing while playing ME3 on my Windows 7 laptop. I'm a big fan of the series and I've played 1 and 2 with no problems at all. However, there's an issue going with ALT+Tabbing. I know some games are not meant to work this way but that is a really strange case. I could minimize Mass Effect 1, the full window restoration would take some time though. I could also minimize ME2 and restore it in mere seconds. Mass Effect 3, I just can't restore it. It stays on the taskbar, I can click it endlessly but it won't come up. And right when I thought this is a one-game issue, I accidentally tried again and it worked. I could minimize/restore Mass Effect 3 in a couple seconds. But it only worked this one time.
Every time I boot my PC now, Windows' visual transitions (screen fades, maximizing / minimizing, opening / closing windows, etc) go at like 1/4 speed. It's annoying and slows things down (everything else is fine though). "Restarting" from the start menu fixes it, but shutting down and booting up again does not. I know I can just shut them off. But this is a recent build and I want to know what's wrong. This seemed to start happening out of nowhere.
I'll be in a game, and press caps. The window will minimize. This has never happened before. Also, when I click my cursor into a bar to type, then press caps, the blinking cursor thing goes away, and I must re click into the bar to continue typing.
For the past week I've had crashes after about an hour of use. I was getting BSODs that flashed quickly then the computer tried to reboot but would not get past the motherboard screen.Power cycling brings windows back. After enabling a page file I was able to get a BSOD and minidump which wasnt happening previously.I've tried memtest86 (only 1 pass), chkdsk and windows virus scans. Nothing shows up. I dusted out the internals and monitored the CPU temp and that was normal. The video driver (AMD onboard) was the only driver that needed updating and I fixed that with no change.
Here's my info:
x64 windows 7 professional, homebuilt, about 1 year old.
More details:The first time the crash happen I was running Google Earth for the first time in a long time. Initially web pages stop loading. Then I cant switch programs or start task manager. Then the spinning rings cursor shows up. About a minute later the computer flashes the BSOD then reboots. Though now it seems to persistently show the BSOD.
I've been having this problem recently with my laptop running in kind of like slow motion. The problem starts when it takes my laptop an extra long time to boot up and then afterwards my windows minimize and maximize very slowly and my games kind of run in slow motion. This happens 1 out of 10 reboots and a restart usually fixes the problem.I've done memtest, chckdsk, hard drive tests with seagate tools, scans with malwarebytes and avira, temperature readings with speedfan but nothing has been found. The only thing was with the chckdsk finding space mark as allocated that was free but I believe that problem was fixed in subsequent chckdsks.I have noticed these two error messages in my event log though:Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.digital delivery service has terminated unexpectedly. it has done this (1) times.
I want to play BulletStorm, i'm playing like 2 min and it's minimizing the game all the time (I get back to the game and it's still minimizing). In Battle Field Bad Company 2 it just changing the game to window mode (I know it because suddenly I can see the bar where's the start/clock and name bar where's the game's name shown + I need to click the game window to go back to Full Window mode ( I can't play when it's window mode I have to click it)In the Google Chrome/Firefox I can see it when I type (like now) the flickering line of typing disappear suddenly and I need to click the browser again to see it and obviously writing again.

My problem is that when I am playing games such as Minecraft or full screen games like Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike: Source, windows decides to Tab Out... When I (it just did this then) press a key it makes the noise that windows normally makes when you can't use the keyboard (I have no idea what to call the noise o.o) Windows also (it just did it again) basically makes the window look like another window is on top of it here, is basically what it looks like (on the right, I decided to put skype and chrome next to each other and click on skype which makes the top of chrome look (it just decided to do this again) like it's basically not in use, I really do not know how to describe this here is an image w/ the comparison http://puu.sh/1RDgf As you can see on the right (Chrome's top bar is abit lighter than Skypes) I have re installed windows once, and this does not do anything, so I am not going to try this again! I've tried in my best ability to explain this, but let me say one last thing, It basically seems like another window is popping up, but cannot be seen and this is making my games and normal windows tab out... I can tell because chrome or the game I am playing will either make the top bar look lighter or just minimize and then when I press a key it will make a noise, unless I press the mouse button which gives me control of the pc again.
The problem I currently have is whenever I open close minimize or maximize a program, be it google chrome or World of Warcraft or even any MS Office program it starts slowly and minimizes slowly. I've been having this problem for about 5 days now and I have no clue how it arose. I am using Windows 7 x64 home premium. I am new to computer stuff with little knowledge of the lingo and processes of how anything really works. Also I found on these forums something that seemed familiar but there was no solution. Whenever I play Starcraft 2 It becomes choppy and slow moving. The start up screen for every game I play is in slowmotion.
I would like to add that browsing the internet and playing some games is perfectly fine after the initial slow moving start up. though it still closes and minimizes slowly.Another thing I would like to add that may be the cause to the problem. Whenever I start up my computer it is super slow. it takes the windows in starting or resuming icon forever to rotate and load.also after the 5-10 minutes I have to wait for it to finally get to the User selection screen. when i do select a user, the program Curse Client ( a program for World of Warcraft addons) doesn't work and gives me this message: An error has occurred while attempting to load a Microsoft .Net configuration file. this is often and indication of a corrupted .net installation. and it goes on to say; We recommend visiting Microsoft download Center to repair your .net installation. would you like to go there now?
A person who works from home brought his laptop in today as he was having issues printing. We have the same printer here so I hooked it up as he would do and got rid of his problem (a print job stuck in the queue! He has just called me and says that now he is back at home, his printer works fine but when opening or closing programs it goes in what he describes as 'slow motion'. He likened it to the same effect as when you switch on the trail for the mouse pointer. I haven't done anything which would affect things to my knowledge as I didn't install any updates / drivers / software etc.
my notebook isn't a year old and i can't play games like GTA IV, Dead rising 2,aints row 3, ..The games work fine, but they are running soooo slow..I know people can play some of these games on windows XP, so it must be my computer specs..Processor:Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2350M CPU 2,30Ghz CPUs), 2.3GhzMemory: 4096MB RAMDirectX 11
I have a pc with the following specs: Intel DG31PR motherboard, Intel dual core E5300 2.66 Ghz processor, 2GB ram,ATI Radeon 4670HD Graphics Card.My operating system is Windows 7 Home Basic. I'm having problems with playing games. They're really slow. I can play them after installing gamebooster, but after sometime the game becomes too slow. Previously I had windows xp sp3. I had no problem there.I want to know which part should I upgrade? Should I upgrade my processor or ram. How can I play games without gamebooster?

I use the IE browser. Although I have it set on maxim window size, all my web sites initially come on reduced size and I have to click on the maximizing window. Anyone know how to have max window sizes all the time?
Don't know why, but when I try and drag a window to the top of my screen to 'maximize' it, Windows 7 will minimize it to the bottom of the screen instead - where just the title bar is showing.
Whenver I maximize a window it goes across all three screens, now that is okay for video games but not so much for the internet or other programs. Whenever I open a program it is opened very small and I have to manually adjust to windows to each screen, and it kind of gets annoying. So is there a way that I can change a setting or something that when I maximize my window it will only maximize on the screen that I have the window open on?I am running Windows 7 btw.
Alright, so it's not a problem i'm having.I find my currently RAM very slow in games and such, so I i'm reding my brothers RAM, and installed them, and all the games went quite smooth.I'm having the P5Q Pro Motherboard which doesn't support DDR3, but DDR2. As you probably know, DDR2 is REALLY expensive because it's outdated (Really, you won't believe the prices), so it's actually cheaper to buy a new Motherboard, and then get the DDR3.So i've been looking at this motherboard (GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 775 - GA-P41T-D3P (rev.1.3)), it looks quite nice, and it has my Intel Quad Q9550 supported, and supporting DDR3.But my brother is unsure that it will run the newest technology of DDR3 like these (Vengeance - 2 x 4 GB sticks DDR3).So will they run on the Gigabyte motherboard, and how is the Gigabyte motherboard, or just the label Gigabyte after all? Can I trust them? How are there products? Or most importantly, can I run Corsair 2 x 4 GB DDR3 Vengeance RAM.
I'm having a problem with my computer I am running two operating systems on my computer. Windows 7 on a sata hard drive, and windows XP on an ide drive. my problem is that my hard drive light flashes constantly about once per secondm, and the computer is running slow, ( solitare is slugish and jumpy). I've been on a malware site discussion board, and determened that my system is clean.i've been reviewing some other discussion boards and a couple of them mention about problems with cd/ dvd drives cauing this problem . i've turned auto insert notiyication off on both of my drives, but the light still flashes. I disconnected the data cable from my cdrom and dvd drives and the problem is gone. reconnect them and the problem returns. I don't want to burn up my new hard drive
I'm not too familiar with windows as I've been using mac for several years. I bought a windows computer to play games with. Mainly World of Warcraft.
I've managed to play WoW with high settings until a couple of days ago, then I noticed that the game is running very very slow no matter what settings I'm using. So I figured I might have a virus. And searched through countless websites about how to restore windows.I found out that my samsung laptop had a program called samsung recovery solution 5. So I clicked to get a full restore.I later found out that it only restored the C drive and not the D drive as well. I had WoW installed on D drive, so I figured I should check if it made any difference. Loaded up WoW and I could play smoothly. After about 10 minutes it started lagging again and was unplayable.World of Warcraft is not the only game that runs slow. Minecraft, Assassins Creed and pretty much all of my games are running slow after a couple of minutes. Now I'm starting to wonder if it is the computer itself which makes the games run so slowly. My computer is getting very warm after just a couple of minutes of gaming and I've read that it might slow down the computer performance.
Specs: Intel i5 2,3GHz (2,7GHz with the built-in turbo boost) 4GB ram NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M
My PC games like fifa 11, nba 2k11, assassin's creed start lagging today. It only started lagging after the match started (no lagging before menu screen) . It is not my pc spec that cause the lagging because I played these games for a whole month without lagging. I also noticed that my computer is a little bit slower than usual. I think the last thing I did is my assassin's creed crash and i pressed the power off button. The first around 8 times I played it, it didn't crash but after that it always crashes after 30-40 minutes i play. So I don't know what to do and press power off button, then wait for a while then press on again. And there is some new problem occur. When I'm watching video using chrome, sometimes it lag or just got no sound when the video is playing. Is it because of the graphic card or virus? I already scan with avira, malwarebyte and spybot. There is no virus according to them.My pc specs are asus n53s, intel i5, 4gb ram, 640hdd, window 7 and nvidia geforce gt540m 1gb.
My PC specs : Intel Celeron D 3.06Ghz Processor,3Gb DDR2 Ram, Gefore 9400GT 1GB GFX card, and 320 Gb HDD bla bla blaMy Problem is When i start Playing games they works fine at beginning but after few minutes it starts lagging ,when i checked the task manager the CPU usage goes to 100%,i checked in BIOS the temperature goes to 80, so i applied thermal paste on processor, but there is no difference
I upgraded Vista x64 Ultimate to Win 7 x64 Ultimate. The upgrade went fine - no major issues with the upgrade process. I am, though, having some small issues when running 7:
1. Outlook 2007 process remains open after closing Outlook.
2. Very slow closing certain programs/games.
3. Gadgets doesn't work.
4. Occasional empty folder pops up on taskbar that I can't close.
5. WEI for my SATA3 HD is 2.9 - 500GB Seagate
6. System shutdowns take forever
The system, overall, seems to be quite responsive but the problems I'm running into are somewhat frustrating.
Not sure if these have been addressed in other threads yet, as I'm still searching them. I'm guessing that part of it may be due to MB driver issues, but not sure - running an EVGA 780i MB.
My computer started running really slow and sticking while running videos and playing games. I looked at the processes on the task bar and I have 13 svchost running ...is that normal? What do I really need to have running? I have so many things on there like something called toaster.exe32. I've cleared the cache and cookies..and used CCleaner. I thought maybe stopping some of the processes would help.
Slow Respond in games on higher resolution such as 1366x768 or 1024x768
