PC Slow Down And PC Games Lagging?
May 19, 2011
My PC games like fifa 11, nba 2k11, assassin's creed start lagging today. It only started lagging after the match started (no lagging before menu screen) . It is not my pc spec that cause the lagging because I played these games for a whole month without lagging. I also noticed that my computer is a little bit slower than usual. I think the last thing I did is my assassin's creed crash and i pressed the power off button. The first around 8 times I played it, it didn't crash but after that it always crashes after 30-40 minutes i play. So I don't know what to do and press power off button, then wait for a while then press on again. And there is some new problem occur. When I'm watching video using chrome, sometimes it lag or just got no sound when the video is playing. Is it because of the graphic card or virus? I already scan with avira, malwarebyte and spybot. There is no virus according to them.My pc specs are asus n53s, intel i5, 4gb ram, 640hdd, window 7 and nvidia geforce gt540m 1gb.

I recently upgraded from XP to Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit.
And my PC have:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7500 @2.93Ghz 2.94Ghz
2Gb memory RAM
NVIDIA GEForce GT 240
I was wondering why games like MAFIA 2 are lagging when It runs very smoothly before when I'm still in XP. .... Is my video card damage? Or it's just Windows 7 consumes alot of RAM than XP when/even without running games??

I have a problem with game lagging. All the racing games (All need for speeds, all colin mcrae games, test drive unlimited) all work brilliant when it comes to graphics but there is a lag of like half a second to a second when it comes to controlling the car itself and it is very annoying and makes the games unplayable.
Computer specs:
Hp Compaq Presario Cq61
Pentium(R) Dual-core CPU T4200 @2.00GHz,
Nvidia GeForce G103M 512MB
RAM: 4GB
Windows 7 64bit

I've been playing PC games on my new laptop for a few months now, all of which can run on Direct X 11. Two games, Saints Row the Third and Civilizations V I run using Direct X 9 mode, which helps me keep my laptop temperature down.Recently, however, I have bought and downloaded a few games via Steam that are older, that only use Direct X 9.0c. When I run any of these games for the first time, Steam will start "installing Direct X...". After that, all of my games run with very noticeable lag. I will lose FPS (going from 70+ to about 20-) every 20 seconds or so. If I perform a system restore to the moment before Steam installed the Direct X, everything starts running fine again. This has rendered half of my games on Steam unplayable because they all need to install Direct X before playing. The only topic I could find with a similar problem to mine was an unanswered thread here: link .

i have been through what feels like a million options to fix this but none have fixed my problem yet. When in a game specifically world of warcraft sometimes my screen will freeze for 1 to 2 seconds then come back all of a sudden. i have ruled out a graphics card issue and have narrowed it down to this. As many of you may already know the "scvhost.exe" issue lags up my entire computer and i believe is the culprit of the cpu bottleknecking. I have disabled windows update and windows defender two things that have been labeled with this issue and still the problem persists. Scv host is running 11 applications of itself currently and one of them is around 135k at all times. i have a amd 2.4 dual core and 6 gigs of ram my system usually flies. I am running out of ideas and frankly running out of patience.

When I'm playing high or medium end games on my laptop, they often lag even with the quality turned down to the lowest. These are my specs:
AMD Quad-Core A10-4600M @ 2.30Ghz x4
8 GB RAM
750 GB HDD
AMD Radeon HD7660G + HD 7670M Dual Graphics
As you can see I should be able to play most games on medium or high quality settings. I've tried using GameBooster, but nothing improved.

I'm having a serious problem when trying to watch videos in full scream. When in full screen, the videos get slow, lagging in various scenes, sometimes with cuts in the audio too.
My config is Sempron 2600+, 1.5gb ram and Geforce 5500 256MB 128 bits. Display 22", 1680x1050 resolution. I'm using nvidia beta driver for Windows 7 (it seems to be the same driver used for Windows Vista, don't know).
I tried lots of codecs and players, nothing works. Windows Media Player and Media Player classic are working almost perfectly than any other players, but I really hate WMP.
I tried to change the settings in nVidia Control Panel, but I can't find the nvidia control panel, it's not in the right button menu.
I installed the game Marvel Ultimate Alliance and it's slow too, but I have all the requirements to play it smoothly. I'm using build 7600. How can I solve this?

my new Asus x54c is lagging all of a sudden everytime I play my video games and it is about a month old; I bought it brand new. is it dust on the fan? Should I be taking the back apart, pulling out the fan connection and checking to see if there is dust in there?

I am completely stumped as to why videos tend to lag & freeze my screen for 10 second intervals, aswell as cause my browser to freeze with a busy icon. I've tried everything I know to do with no progress. I've tried numerous different browsers with no luck, scanning for all bugs.as well as disabling firewalls, cycling my router/modem & making sure all of my drivers are up to date. My computer should handle everything just fine.

Finally updated my 6 year old Acer Aspire laptop (AMD turon 64 x 2, 2 Gig ram, XP Media Centre) with a HP DV7-5005TX (I7-2720 2.2g, 8 gig DDR3, ATI Radeon HD6570 Graphics with 1 gig Ram & 2TB HD).It was preloaded with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit which installed without a hitch.I then installed all Windows updates and some necessary programs (Firefox, Thunderbird, Cad, Graphic design, Office 2007, ZoneAlarm, AVG) and tried it out. Painfully slow in all areas like it had to consider everything I asked of it B4 it would start reacting.Did a registry clean & fix, defrag a little better but not much.Tried a change of antivirus (incase that was slowing it up) No better.Installed Winoptimiser 8 and set everything for peak performance which improved things a little further bit still not great - My old Acer still runs rings around this thing! It boots up in ok time but the actual operations are 'jagged', like when typing in browser display stalls for a few seconds then catches up. Scrolling down a window does the same. Some basic programs can take half a minute to even open a window, let alone set up.

Alright, so it's not a problem i'm having.I find my currently RAM very slow in games and such, so I i'm reding my brothers RAM, and installed them, and all the games went quite smooth.I'm having the P5Q Pro Motherboard which doesn't support DDR3, but DDR2. As you probably know, DDR2 is REALLY expensive because it's outdated (Really, you won't believe the prices), so it's actually cheaper to buy a new Motherboard, and then get the DDR3.So i've been looking at this motherboard (GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 775 - GA-P41T-D3P (rev.1.3)), it looks quite nice, and it has my Intel Quad Q9550 supported, and supporting DDR3.But my brother is unsure that it will run the newest technology of DDR3 like these (Vengeance - 2 x 4 GB sticks DDR3).So will they run on the Gigabyte motherboard, and how is the Gigabyte motherboard, or just the label Gigabyte after all? Can I trust them? How are there products? Or most importantly, can I run Corsair 2 x 4 GB DDR3 Vengeance RAM.

I'm having a problem with my computer I am running two operating systems on my computer. Windows 7 on a sata hard drive, and windows XP on an ide drive. my problem is that my hard drive light flashes constantly about once per secondm, and the computer is running slow, ( solitare is slugish and jumpy). I've been on a malware site discussion board, and determened that my system is clean.i've been reviewing some other discussion boards and a couple of them mention about problems with cd/ dvd drives cauing this problem . i've turned auto insert notiyication off on both of my drives, but the light still flashes. I disconnected the data cable from my cdrom and dvd drives and the problem is gone. reconnect them and the problem returns. I don't want to burn up my new hard drive

I'm not too familiar with windows as I've been using mac for several years. I bought a windows computer to play games with. Mainly World of Warcraft.
I've managed to play WoW with high settings until a couple of days ago, then I noticed that the game is running very very slow no matter what settings I'm using. So I figured I might have a virus. And searched through countless websites about how to restore windows.I found out that my samsung laptop had a program called samsung recovery solution 5. So I clicked to get a full restore.I later found out that it only restored the C drive and not the D drive as well. I had WoW installed on D drive, so I figured I should check if it made any difference. Loaded up WoW and I could play smoothly. After about 10 minutes it started lagging again and was unplayable.World of Warcraft is not the only game that runs slow. Minecraft, Assassins Creed and pretty much all of my games are running slow after a couple of minutes. Now I'm starting to wonder if it is the computer itself which makes the games run so slowly. My computer is getting very warm after just a couple of minutes of gaming and I've read that it might slow down the computer performance.
Specs:
Intel i5 2,3GHz (2,7GHz with the built-in turbo boost)
4GB ram
NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M

I upgraded Vista x64 Ultimate to Win 7 x64 Ultimate. The upgrade went fine - no major issues with the upgrade process. I am, though, having some small issues when running 7:
1. Outlook 2007 process remains open after closing Outlook.
2. Very slow closing certain programs/games.
3. Gadgets doesn't work.
4. Occasional empty folder pops up on taskbar that I can't close.
5. WEI for my SATA3 HD is 2.9 - 500GB Seagate
6. System shutdowns take forever
The system, overall, seems to be quite responsive but the problems I'm running into are somewhat frustrating.
Not sure if these have been addressed in other threads yet, as I'm still searching them. I'm guessing that part of it may be due to MB driver issues, but not sure - running an EVGA 780i MB.

My computer started running really slow and sticking while running videos and playing games. I looked at the processes on the task bar and I have 13 svchost running ...is that normal? What do I really need to have running? I have so many things on there like something called toaster.exe32. I've cleared the cache and cookies..and used CCleaner. I thought maybe stopping some of the processes would help.

Yesterday, while browsing on firefox, my browser started to massivly slow down, and noticed it wasn't the only thing. So I restarted and it was still slow, and startup was a bit slow.So I've restarted in safe mode to run my AVG, it stopped half way through(assuming halfway, it was scanning some system32 stuff and stopped around there. So I rebooted again into safemode with networking to download spybot S&D and run Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes detected nothing, well, nothing until it froze about an hour and three minutes inIf this problem is similar to the problem I had once before, my computer will become slower each time it starts up until it freezes just by trying to log-in.[CODE]
