I see as owner all entries on the "Security" tab of the Properties page of a file/folder
I have 200 folders in the C:/user/owner/local with names similar to {4BAD3A78-8A70-44D6-AD84-CF42571B0CD6}. All of them show 0 bytes, 0 files, 0 folders. What the heck are these?

View 7 Replies View RelatedIn Windows XP, copied files appeared at the end of the window, so that just scrolling to the bottom (e.g. by pressing the End button) made it very simple to locate them. In Windows 7 the new files (and folders) are sorted immediately, which means that in a folder with lots of files I have to go hunting for the new stuff. Is there any way to revert to the Windows XP behavior?

WMP plays the movie but not the sound. so I followed the instruction half way down from the link above. (see below) If you have DTS audio in an AVI container, follow this proceedure for playback in WMP or MC;Open the appropriate settings application . . .use the 32bit application for a 32bit player, or the x64 application for MC on x64 systemsChange the AVI splitter under the AVI TAB to Gabests splitterthen rename the AVI to MP4now your file will play.After following this instruction, WMP llibrary won't list MP4 files. View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently took ownership of the explorer.exe file so that I could modify my Windows 7 start orb. Everything went well and my new orb looks great. I am now trying to give ownership back to TrustedInstaller using NT SERVICETrustedInstaller. It appears that ownership does in fact change to TrustedInstaller, however, I'm still able to change and modify the explorer.exe file, even though I'm not the owner anymore. I've gone into permissions but I can't "allow" any control on the administrator account. (it's all grayed out) I can only "deny" control. I remember seeing a warning about inherited permissions on that file but when I unchecked it, the only account remaining in the accounts list was TrustedInstaller.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI tried running a program or bot on my Windows 7 Installation a few days ago. I assumed that the program would actually own the credentials of me since I was running it, but sadly that was not right as the program proceeded to tell me that it couldn't write to files. Which I found odd as I myself could both open then, read, add and then save with the changes remaining.
I had to actually add myself to the folder with "Full Control" before the program could run without any error. Now is it I ask, Why is that even required?. I thought it was implied that if I can access the folder, read and write to and from it, that any programs I run can do the same.
At least thats how it worked under XP, but yes I am aware that security has been tightened in both Vista and Windows 7. But seems rather useless having to assign myself to a folder I got access to already, before a program I run can access it.
When I go to the root directory of my partition D: and enter CACLS * /T then the scanning of all my files and folders for Security settings starts.After a while the process reaches the (hidden, system) folder "System Volume Information" ...and abort silently.I think this is clearly a bug. CACLS should either skip or write a comment "folder inaccessible".Aborting is a no-go.

So, I changed the owner of Documents and Settings from SYSTEM to Fasih(HP-PCHP) and this is me. Still I cant access. Also, I wanna revert the owner back to SYSTEM, just in case to prevent anything stupid. So I retraced the steps and now.. I cant change the owner back to SYSTEM (strange).

I just tried to install the latest iTunes update, but keep getting an error when it tries to access the C:Program FilesiPod folder.When I try to access the iPod folder directly through Windows Explorer, I get "Access is denied".The same happens when logged in with the system administrator account.When I right-click the folder and choose Properties > Security, the Current owner field shows "Unable to display current owner." And it won't allow either of the listed administrator accounts to take ownership.When I choose Properties > Security > Advanced > Owner, the Current owner field also shows "Unable to display current owner." And it won't allow me to Edit it either.I've tried opening the Command Prompt as the administrator, and deleting the folder, but it won't allow me to do that either.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI know they removed the "classic startmenu" but the only thing I miss is the "All Programs" list. I hate having to click, then scroll, then click again. With all the new UI improvements you would think they would of realized to just open the folder on hover or allow a blow out list.
I do have it set to open on hover, but it doesnt work for the inside area. So far it's my only complaint about 7, the little hovers for multiple windows is awesome.
When i click the start button and move my mouse to all programs it changes but there are no list of them, it is all white. When i right click the all programs and choose open i can see that all programs are there and they all work fine.
I didn't had this problem from start, it happened recently.
Of reg cleaners i only use CCleaner and it didn't make any problems for sure.
Is this a known problem and how can i fix this?
I recently ran Power Tools Lite and afterwards noticed that all commands that were listed in Run are gone. I don't think they can be recovred but I would like to make new entries hold and be available for furture use. Needless to say Power Tools Lite is gone from my computer.

Whenever I run the deep clean option of my Advaced System Care program, it erases my contact list and I have to go back and re-enter the contacts. I would like to copy the file of Contacts elsewhere first so I would be able to copy it back after doing the Deep Care, but cannot find where it is stored. Kinda like the old .wab file I used to have.
