View 3 Replies View RelatedI don't recall any recent change before this issue, but everytime I start my computer, all my icons go to the left side of the screen. I temporarily downloaded a software to reset my icons when I start the computer, but I don't want to keep on having to go through this all the time. I tried the regedit...that didn't work. I tried right clicking the desktop and resetting them there...that doesn't work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I turn on the screen of my PC I get weird shapes all over the screen. Some of them are coloured, some are grey but they appear on all programmes, including a Word blank page and the desktop page. Some of them flash, some of them change shape, ut they are all pixel shaped within the boxes. There are also some strange 'squiggly' marks on the screen. When I opened Windows mail, the left hand side of the screen was completely black and it didn't show any of my messages. As I'm typing this message, I've got grey boxes which change shape as I type and it's covering some of the text.

View 0 Replies View RelatedCurrently when moving the taskbar to the left side, the thinnest you can make it is to have 2 system icons side by side on the bottom. I'm trying to get the taskbar to have show only 1 system icon. I've discovered through trial and error a way to have this happen but it isn't a permanent fix. Here are the steps:1.) Make the taskbar as thin as it will go normally.2.) Lock the taskbar, turn on auto-hide, and turn on small icons3.) Open up a full screen game. (I've only had it work with War3-Frozen Throne and Starcraft. Didn't work with CS:S

I've got a problem that popped up the other night when I decided I wanted to restore my system to a previous time due to a BSOD I received and had a feeling it was due to CCleaner.
Regardless, I'm now unable to see my E: drive, as shown in the screenshot, on the left side of Explorer under Computer. It shows up fine in the main window there but not on the side. I can't even rename it, I had it named previously.
Any ideas?
I want to view multiple windows side by side across the screen, and it kind of works, with a few issues. The first is that it never includes the window in which I am running Firefox, it will arrange every other window side by side and leave the browser window open at the original size across the whole lot. The second is I can't work out a way to say view windows side by side but exclude some - I want to snap my browser windows and a couple of other things which receive regular updates to the best possible use of the screen, but ignore windows running utilities, email, etc. Is there a way to say place some windows side by side without having to shut down and reopen the ones I'm not interested in viewing on side by side?
The third is, is there any way to specify the order in which I want it to display the windows? I get them in all kinds of random orders and even if I drag them around to be almost exactly where I want them, if I use the "side by side" they jump into different orders - I want Firefox to the left, IE to the right (they fulfil different view functions for me) and the other program in the middle. There seems to be no way for me to tell the system I want them lined up like that. Will I have to line things up on the screen manually if I want them like that? It's not always the same programs so I don't want to start incorporating commands to force them to run in certain sizes and locations.
how the left window reacts when I select a folder.
If I have a long list of folders in the left window and I click on the small arrow to the left of a folder, it is supposed to show the list of sub-folders that are in the selected folder.
It does but here is my problem. Lets say the folder that I select is in the middle of the left window. When I click on the small arrow, Windows Explorer shifts the folder list down so that the selected folder is near the bottom of the window. Generally I can only see one of the sub-folders. And then I have to use the slider to move the selected folder up so I can see more than one sub-folder.
I wish it would leave the folder where it was and show as many sub-folders as possible underneath the selected folder.
I want some thing that allows me to add items to the right side of the start menu. When I say right side, I mean along with the Pictures, Documents, Downloads, etc.. Also it has to lead to something.
View 1 Replies View RelatedYou know the right side of the Start Menu, it has links such as User, Documents, Pictures, Music, Games, Computer, ect... I would like to add a custom link to that side of the Start Menu. Let's say I have a folder on "D:" called E-Books and I would like it to be displayed as a link on the right hand side of the Start Menu.
View 3 Replies View RelatedA new nit-picky OCD question for all you geniuses. Is it possible to add a custom item to the right part of the start menu, one that isn't a default option when using the standard customize menu? Specifically, I'd love to add the Network Connections control panel to that pane, but, I don't see how.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAfter installing a few updates at once on the 12th, when I right-click on my desktop, the top-right of the menu appears at the cursor position. That's what normally happens when you are too close to the edge, but it happens all the time now.

I just installed Da sims on a HP pavillion dv5 laptop with Intel Core i5 processor & 4g ram with windows 7.The game itself runs rather fine, but the options on the upper part of the screen (build, create family, demolish...) are oddly GONE.So, I installed the same game on my PC (wich runs on win XP) and it works perfectly, with th eproper options on the screens upper section.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHowever, If I try to change any settings in the options menu, when I click accept the game just freezes. The PC doesn't freeze, JUST the game. When I page out and close the game and reopen it, sometimes the settings took effect, sometimes they didn't.
This happens EVERY time I click the accept button. Other than changing settings in the settings menu, the game works flawlessly. It's just a pain because I would like to change up some settings on my keyboard but after I change it and hit "accept" it just freezes and I have to restart crysis.
**It did NOT do this with Windows 7 Ultimate x64 RC.***
SPECS:
-I'm running Windows 7 Premium x64
-ATI 4850x2 Card in Crossfire (absolutely no scaling issues). this is not two separate cards. It's one card with two GPUs on it.
-I'm opening crysis in 32 bit mode
Anyone have some ideas on what this could be?
In Windows Seven if I right click in Explorer left pane Favorites I can then press 'e' to open that folder in a new window. In Vista, I have to press 'o'. Being right handed and wanting to use the mouse, now I have to reach across with my left hand to press the 'o' key. Is there no way to change the underline/shortcut/accelerator whatever they call it key in the context menu? I see no way to do it. I look in the Registry and I don't see any "&" in front of any of the letters. But the short cut letter is there just the same. There must be a way to change it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedBut I just cant figure this one out (neither can google) . So i can LEFT(<-this is important)-click all the icons in my system tray and a nice menu of some kind pops up (as it should) how ever if i LEFT-click my network icon nothing happens (right-click functions still work), sadly i dont really know when this started happening so i cant backtrack it. this is a problem because now i cant select other wireless network.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows 7 Professional 32-Bit Edition with SP1. Somehow I have lost the "Pin to Start Menu" and "Pin to Task Bar" options when I right click on a program's icon whether it is running or not. Another strange thing is that when I right click on My Computer and select "Manage Computer", I get an error message that there is no program associated with that command. I ran "sfc /scannow" and it returned "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations." So I am at a loss. I do recall seeing an option to remove those privileges somewhere, but I cannot for the life of me remember which program I saw it in.

I seem to be unable to click any menu boxes (such as enter world, etc etc) inside of games when I am using directx 11, however the scroll wheel works. I am not sure if the mouse is the problem, but after scouring the web I can find no explanation as to why this might be, wondering if anyone can shed some light.

I have recently reinstalled (via recovery) my 64-bit Win 7 Home premium . Every thing else is fine, except for office 2007. The program was installed successfully but office files didn't show their respective icons. For the first time for every office file (e.g Word or Excel document) I have to chose the program to run the file. Now though on clicking any office file they opened in the respective office program but still their icons are like office is not installed.

"The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log or use the command-line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail." First of all, I've gotten this on at least 3 different programs. Everyone who's written about this seems to think it's related to their specific program...it's not! Secondly, what I find here in the forum on the subject tells me there has been no solution...also am unable to find any on the 'net'. I think it acts like a virus and is spreading...What's up with this??? Does anyone know...? It has kept me from opening iTunes so I can't work with my iPad anymore. Certainly there must be someone knowledgeable enough to know what this is and what to do about it...right?:

I intended to have it set up to run both windows 7 and linux together and let me choose which boot disk I wanted to use at start up. Ubuntu took over and so I read through some forums online. I can now get to the Windows 7 loading screen but it freezes there. I have my install disc and was hoping someone could assist me with getting windows 7 back. I do not care if I loose Ubuntu. I am currently sitting with the Administrator: X:windowssystem32cmd.exe from the System Recovery Options Menu with my Windows 7 Disc in the tray.
