Internet Connection Errors Since Upgrade To Windows 7
Apr 17, 2012
Over the weekend I upgraded my desktop from Vista home to Premium to Windows Home premium. Since then I cannot maintain my connection to the Internet via the router system in my building, although that had never been a problem before. It also is not a problem when I plug in my laptop. So I start connected and then after a couple of minutes of use become disconnected from the Internet. I go to troubleshooting and it resets the connection, for another two minutes. The two error messages I receive are Local Area Connection does not have a valid IP configuration and the default gateway is not available.
I am running Windows 7 Upgrade on a Dell Inspiron desktop. As of Thursday, June 16 after Windows Update and McAfee Update, I have had difficulty browsing the internet, alhtough I have internet connection. After hours of phone conversation with Dell and my IP, hours more of online chat, I am still not satisified anything has been corrected. I am currently connected to the internet through problem computer. Wired, DSL. I replaced phone and ethernet cable. Dell support basically useless as they want big bucks to fix problem and I can barely understand them. My IP spent 6.5 remotely accessing computer, eventually giving up, claiming that they had met their match. I have done two clean installs, but after Windows update, the problem returns. I clean installed a third time this afternoon. Downloaded MSE, updated and that went without incident. I have been browsing and researching this issue at many sites and forums, this evening. I hesitate to update Windows further, as I have finally returnd successfully to the internet. McAfee is not currently installed. I have of intention of installing it. I'll give MSE a try. Can anyone provide possible answers to what is causing the conflict (if that is what it can be called) with browsing after Window 7 update? The modem disconnected occasionally, but according to my IP is working properly. Computer appears to operate fine otherwise, just the browsing.
Basically, no matter what browser I'm using (I get the error in IE, Firefox, and Chrome), it usually takes me 5-6 tries to load any given webpage, and even then most of the time the formatting's screwed up, pictures don't show up, etc. I'm using a new(ish) HP laptop that's maybe about 20 feet from the router. The router itself is hooked up to the desktop computer, which never has this problem. My wifi signal is strong, and the indicator in the tray never drops below "excellent" signal strength even when I'm repeatedly clicking refresh. Power cycling the router doesn't work. I've cleaned out caches and histories, even uninstalled and reinstalled browsers with all necessary updates, and still nothing. I called the cable company that provides my internet and they're convinced it's not on their end. It doesn't matter if anyone else in the house is using the desktop with its net connection at the same time I'm trying to use mine. Theirs works, mine doesn't.
But here's the really weird thing: I had this same problem with my previous laptop. In both cases, I can take the laptop other places (school, coffee shop, etc) and never once experience this issue. It seems to have cycles where it'll be fine for a little while (maybe hours, maybe days), and then for a few hours or days at a time I just want to give up and go read a book or something. In IE, I typically get a standard "this page cannot be displayed" type error. In Firefox and Chrome, I tend to get more specific "the connection was reset" errors, often immediately upon hitting refresh. Sometimes the page will try to load, and "Sending request" or a similar message will appear in the status bar before everything craps out. Just as often, the page will appear to be very slowly loading, then parts of it will load but most of it will be an Error 105 message (In Chrome: "Error 105 net::ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): Unable to resolve the server's DNS address.") Doesn't matter what page it is. Google, Facebook, my school's library portal, reddit, Amazon, doesn't make a difference.
The only other thing I can possibly think of is that it's the router itself that's bad. It's a generic deal that doesn't even have a name; the manual I had to scour Google for refers to it only as "11g Wireless Security Router." But that still doesn't really tell me why the desktop connection works like it should (unless that connection is completely bypassing the router; I'm rather clueless about these things).
I am trying to setup a RDC with a static IP for my PC so I can access it from work. I started messing around with my laptop and PC trying to Remote Access them from one to another locally before doing set up my router to do port forwarding. I noticed that none of my laptops in my house can connect to my PC for Remote Access but I can connect to any laptop from my pc. I don't know what's going on. I've changed the IP on my PC 4 times and still nothing. Hard reset on my router, but nothing.
I am in the process of assisting some users in switching from Win XP/Office 2003 -> Win 7/Office 2010 and have hit a roadblock. I have a user that has an excel macro that opens an ADO connection to a SharePoint and grabs a record of the excel files on the SharePoint. The macro works perfectly on XP/2003 and XP/2010 but fails on 7/2010.
They are using this connection line: Code: davDir.Open "", "URL=http://SharePoint/Directory/URL", _ adModeRead, adFailIfNotExists, adDelayFetchStream Set davFiles = davDir.GetChildren() Once they have the record they iterate through each Excel file on the SharePoint to open and parse them.
On Windows 7/2010 I get these errors when it gets to the davDir.Open line:When they error trap it throws this error:Quote: Object or data matching the name, range, or selection criteria was not found within the scope of this operation. Without error trapping it throws this error:Quote: Run-time error '-2147217895 (80040e19):Automation error I can connect to the SharePoint fine via IE or File/Open in Excel 2010. I have tried every variation of the URL I can and I just keep getting the same error.
Internet connection over an electrical Powerline instead of a wireless connection?is it easy to setup, reliable, fast,..?More in particular a D-Link device:DHP-307AV PowerLine Homeplug AV Kit
is it possible to make a VPN connection over multiple internet connection ? if this is possible then you can make multiple connection transparent to other applications running on ur pc.
I am using a nokia E66 to connect to the internet at home. My pc at home is running windows 7 home premium 64 bit. I am currently using nokia pc suite 7.1.40.1. All the software installed without any problems. The problem that I am having is that after I connect to the internet, I can only roughly download / upload about 5MB of data and the connection will time out. I do not get any error messages that is did timeout. The only way I know this is that I stop seeing data being transferred in Network properties.
I then open my e-mail client to see If I can connect with a POP account and then I get an error saying it could not connect to the e-mail account. I then have to disconnect and reconnect and try again. This does not seem to affect web browsing though, only when I am downloading files. Like Steam will start update and stop, windows updates will start download and stop and so on.
I initially thought it was a problem with the network operator, but when I boot back in xp (my pc is set up to dual boot between xp and 7) every thing works fine. No download time outs. Is it the nokia software that is not supporting 7 100% yet or am I missing something else?
I am trying to share my internet connection thru my laptop wit my ps3 but iyz not working for some reason.when I search for a network wit my game it finds the ip address but no internet connection.
my system is windows 7 and i use ie 9. every time i play a video or a trailer, it comes up with a messageie has stopped working. a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. windows is checking for a solution to the problem. this keeps on happening.
well the title says it all, it doesn't let me do ANYTHING for more than a few seconds before it dies. im using Google chrome because it works the way it should. i also have Norton Internet Security 2011.i've tried the DEP method and still nothing.
internet connection sharing: No internet access!?I am trying to setup internet connection sharing between my laptop (Connected to WiFi) and my pc which has no wireless connection. I've spent a day or two troubleshooting problems such as 'LAN' doesn't have valid configuration and such, i found a solution and I've got the two connections to be able to see each other, but i can't get an internet connection to go through.I have my ipconfig /all for both computers available: (Both have had excess trimmed off to save on character limit)[CODE]

the pc was completly working on windows xp but its was having a few errors with its graphics and slow internet ,and slow boot thinking its because its not been cleaned for 5 years and a lack of virus protection i decided to format it and give it a fresh install of windows 7. Is it oka ?
recently, i have had many bsod consecutively. recently, i have had about 9 bsod over about 5 days (although the report lists a break between my bsod between 2/21 and 3/27 because i was on break for most of this). in the past i have gotten bsod while playing games, but the recent ones have been while doing mundane tasks such as browsing the internet or watching Internet videos?i have used bluescreenview to try to discover the cause of my problem, but every bsod seems to have a different error and file associated with it. many of them are blamed on ntoskrnl.exe, but have different error messages. some are from different files.i am running windows 7 64 bit on a desktop i built about 15 months ago. since then, i have gotten many error messages, but more recently. i have 8 gb of ram, geforce gtx 470, amb phenom ii black multicore processor, and gigabyte 890gpa-ud3h motherboard. i assembled the desktop components and installed all software new onto the computer.
things i have tried recently: resetting the ram in different slots, running antivirus (i have avg free, malwarebytes, and spybot), cleaning the computer fans, uninstalling/driversweeping the video card drivers and reinstalling, disabling the motherboard sound card through bios so the external sound card i have installed does not interfere, running cmd /chkdsk with fix to try to correct any errors found. i have been dealing with bsod a lot frequently, although it has usually only been about 1 per week in the past. these are extremely frequent recently with multiple per day and it is interfering with my work. attached are the files requested.
I have a new Macbook running dual OS - mac and windows 7 home premium. I also have an ASUS running windows 7. When i tried to connect to the internet with my broadband ADSL 2 (using netgear router / modem) it was seamless on the Mac OS but windows running on the mac will not recognize a connection. If I connect my ASUS to the ethernet cord, internet works just fine (running same software as the windows OS on my mac).
We just switched DSL providers from MegaPath to Verizon. All the computers running windows xp connect to the internet just fine. The 2 with windows 7 won't connect. They did with our previous provider. If I go disable network card and next enable the network card I can get on the internet. Unfortunately, this has to be done each time you connect and if you leave the internet open it eventually disconnects.I ran windows 7 diagnostic and it says everything is fine.
i have Mac OS X version 10.6.3 n i installed windows 7 after that the internet and the Audio is not working on windows side if any one can help me please
My Windows 7 Home premium keeps loosing my internet connection. I'm on Time Warner roadrunner high speed cable internet. The other computers in the household do not loose their connections, just the Win 7 one. I can reestablish the connection by doing a reboot or working through the network connection wizard. But, it's a pain in the butt to stop and reboot or spend 15 minutes working through the wizard. My computer is home built(me)with an athlon CPU and 4 megs of RAM. I have 2 other hard drives in this computer with other operating systems on them, Windows XP and Linux(Ubuntu)they do not drop the connection, just the Win 7 drive
I have 2 systems one with windows 7 and an older one with XP. The Windows 7 machine connects to the internet through a network adapter and gets its IP adress automatically and works perfectly both in xp and in 7. The Windows 7 machine is connected to the XP Machine via a second adapter (pci) and a crosslinked cable.
Before Windows 7 IN WINDOWS XP the 7 machine used an ip like 192.168.0.1 and ICS to give internet to the second machine (which got its ip automatically)
I tried a lot of things (ex. static fixed ips enable the computers to share files but not the internet connection) but i still keeps saying its an Unidentified Network / Public Network for the second connection (between the computers)
Note: - ICS is enabled for the internet connection.
- Back when both computers had XP the second XP computer obtained its IP Adress automatically and the internet was shared .. with 7 on the second (xp) computer doesnt aquire the right adress ever.
This is a problem that has happened to me a couple of times. Everyone else has connections in my house, even Wifi. I was cleaning my computer and when I was finished, it wasn't working. The thing is I wasn't touching anything besides my front computer fans. What could be the problem? When I go to device manager, it doesn't even show my router. All it shows is some NVidia nForce which doesn't have to do anything with my connection. One thing I do notice is that there is an "unknown device", which I think is my router. I can't update or do anything else because I have no connection. I even reinstalled my computer which usually fixed it.
My computer will not let me connect to the internet using a wireless connection. My router and modem are working. I can connect to wireless using another computer. How do I reset my configuration back to factory settings?
My router and modem is on. I'm on another computer in my network, but on my new pc it says I have no connection, it doesn't have a wireless internet card but i tried directly plugging it into the modem itself and it still didn't work. I tried to download the router drivers from the CD but I need to have a internet connection to download it off of the CD. What do I do?
I am facing trouble with windows 7 and my internet connections. Facts are I have 02 sony Vaio with windows7 start edition and they are connected to a Apple Airport router (one at the office, a Time Capsule, and another at home, an Airport Extreme). They connect fine at first, but both keep loosing connection every 5 minutes. At the office I have a MacBook that does not disconnect and a Windows XP that also does not disconnect.
Suddenly, my direct connected (Cat 5 to the broadband modem) computer is asking me to dial a connection. It no longer seems to know that it is simply connected. When I look at the devices tab, it shows Enabled for my network card and I have tried to reinstall the drivers.I dual boot with Ubuntu and Ubuntu is able to access the internet (and network) fine.
My computer was built by CyperPowerPC a year ago. Have had zero problems with it until some updates were automatically put in a month or so ago. After the install, my pc still was showing that I was connnected to the internet, except my browser (firefox) would not load any pages.
I restored the system back to a previous point to fix this. But have since restarted my machine and the problem came back (didn't realize the updates got installed automatically on reboot). My question is what do I do as a permanant fix in lieu of system restore? I think the updates causing the problem are related to security reasons. I ran anti malware and it found and deleted 2 things but still no help.
I think there were 20 or so updates that got installed, how do I know which is the problem? (if it is the updates at all). I can get more info tonight (ie specific update names) if needed.
Two BSOD in less than two minutes and now strangely I don't have any internet connection (the troubleshoot center says it's because of "the diagnostic policy service is not running") and the windows firewall is down and is impossible to run again (Windows Firewall can't change some of your settings, Error code 0x8007042c).
I'm uploading the two dmp files with this post using another computer.
I have a dual boot windows 7 and XP PC (both 32 bit). I formatted the hard drive 3 weeks ago and installed fresh copies of Windows 7 (RC1 or 7100) and XP.
Everything was working fine until today, upon reboot, my windows seven stopped connecting to internet. I tried several methods in the control panel to connect without any success. So I went back to XP and the internet connects awesome. This confirms that there is no problem with the router or modem (I use a university T3 connection-sometimes go to 8 MB/sec!!!). I had a similar few days ago and I restarted the computer several times and it connected to the internet by itself. Zthis time it doesn't want to do it.
I was wondering if anyone has a solution to this problem. I really liked the Windows 7 and want to use it instead of XP. I have a custom built core 2 duo, 4 GB RAM (3.5 GB detected), 128 MB graphics card and 3 400GB hard drives.
This happened right when I got my windows 7 PC. I am sharing connection with my brother using a router, a internet box interfering with my phone line and a Prosafe 8 Gigabit smart switch. But when ever my bro loads something i lag and when ever i load something, he lags. But for some reason, when I load online games like A.V.A.and Crossfire, we dont lag each other.
