How To Install Windows On SD Card
Dec 26, 2012The action is already pretty explained in the title. Now I'm gonna tell you the reason. Windows isn't my principal operating system. I already have a Linux Mint install that fulfills all my needs. I'd want a Windows system too just for gaming, if I manage to do my way. Id est on a Secure Digital I bought for that exact reason. Why? I don't want Windows to occupy space on my HDD, which is barely big enough for my needs, and I don't want to carry around an external drive either. An SD is perfect for has all the space it needs on its own, is small and confortable to bring where I want and when it's plugged in completely disappears in my computer.

I'm away to work for a day at a time and when I get home the PC is up and running.I found this article:Windows 7 will not sleep or not sleepingwhich indicates to update driver, particularly the video card driver. I go to the vendor site and download the newest driver. I go to Device Manager open Display Adapters and find my card, double click on that and I'm in the properties. The driver date is 9/2010 so there is definitely a newer driver. Click on update driver/search on computer and navigate to the folder where I downloaded the new driver. I click next and get "Windows has determined that the current driver software for the device is up to date" and thats it, no apparent way around.

Jan 4, 2013I just recently got a new SSD and wanted to start fresh with a new Windows 7 install. Thus I dc'd everything and successfully installed windwos 7 professional. However, after I update my graphics card driver (Radeon HD 5xxx series). I get a screen without icons, start menu or anything except the background. Pressing CTR-ALT-DEL gives me a blackscreen, forcing me to reinstall windows again. I tried different version of Catalyst control center (10.4 and the latest one) and they both give the same error.

Aug 13, 2012Working on a client's computer that was blue screening with Vista 32 bit HP desktop gl309aa. She cannot find the original Vista install CD. I determined that the culprit was probably the wifi driver, and hoped to install updated drivers for that, plus video card and sound card drivers. After much fiddling with the system, I finally got it started through Startup Repair long enough to install the video driver. I had to go through 2 sets of memory diagnostics to start it at all, since even safe mode was not working. When I went to do the sound card driver, it required an uninstall first, so I did that, and foolishly went along with the restart to finish the process. Lacking a sound card driver, it blue screened all over again. Tried everything, including many times with HP Recovery, but every time it blue screens before any process can complete. On top of this, while working on it, she had a power "flash" for a second, and now the system is missing BOOTMGR so it won't even try to boot into safe mode or anything else. I have the drivers on flash but cannot install them. I've decided to forget Vista (awful system anyway) and give her Windows 7 instead. Much more stable, and her data is backed up in case she loses it.
am I going to have any problems installing the Windows 7 if the computer still thinks it has no driver for the sound card? And is there a way to install the file before or during the Windows 7 installation so it will go smoothly? Again, BSOD every time I start HP recovery so there is no way to use that, and we will have a new Windows 7 CD to begin this process.

Jul 19, 2012I've completed a new custom build, but have had problems with BSOD from the beginning with any installation of Intel Graphics drivers or the installation of any graphics card.
When I first completed the build, the XFX-7950 Black was installed. I booted to BIOS without issue, but when I inserted the Windows 7 (64 bit) it would boot through the windows logo screen but immediately BSOD right after going to the first install screen.
I removed the graphics card, and was able to complete the full Windows install without issue. I updated Windows and the drivers on the system but as soon as I installed the Intel 3000 Graphics driver, it would BSOD on every restart. I recovered back prior to the Graphics driver install and installed all other drivers. I updated the BIOS to the latest version.
I have reattempted the XFX 7950 multiple times in different slots, but with the same results. I also attempted my Radeon HD 4550 from my old computer but it gave the same results. It always boots through the Windows logo screen, but BSOD within a few seconds of reaching the password screen.
I broke down and installed Driver Whiz, which did detect multiple outdated drivers that I had not caught, but none of these fix the issues.
I've attached the requested zip. I don't think all BSOD's are showing up, as I've had to use recovery points after installed drivers didn't work. The last .dmp on 19 JUL was a Intel Graphics driver install attempt that I pulled off in safe mode before recovering back to the pre-driver point.

Sep 7, 2009I have looked around the net a bit to see if this was possible, and I have received mixed feelings after my findings.
I recently purchased a new Toshiba Satellite that came with Windows Vista, and a free upgrade to Windows 7 on release.
I am wondering if I am able to put a 32GB SDHC card into the read slot and have it be considered my main hard drive that Windows is on, and use the internal drive (which I swapped out for a Scorpio Black) as storage.
Why, or why not?

Dec 5, 2009I have a think center serial is 8171-CTO; I ran the Windows 7 upgrade advisor but after about 20 tries it told me over and over again I had no Internet connection!1! Which I do as I had freshly downloaded the tool.

Nov 30, 2009I've got an iiyama vision master pro 454 monitor and today i changed graphics card today from a radeon 4850 to a radeon 5770 but after doing it my monitor drivers seem to have reset to generic pnp monitor instead of iiyama ones. I've tried downloading the iiyama drivers but even when i point it at the drivers it tells me my driver is up to date and doesnt change. Strange since windows automatically found the right drivers for me when i installed it.
