I bought a second hand desktop yesterday. When I connect my DSL cable to the CPU, the system prompt: no driver found. Since this is a second hand, I don't have a cd for this pc. I'm confused. I really don't know what to do. The owner who sold me this informed me that he used this pc only with wireless connection with his usb type broadband. I don't have a wireless broadband and only using a dsl cable.

I cant figure out how to do that in 7. I have the flash drive plugged in and the adapter too but when it searches it can't find the driver folders and i can't find a way to direct it to them.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm out of ideas. Tried several different drivers, and settings. Using a fresh install of Windows 7 RC. The drivers all seem to "work", by which I mean Windows 7 has no problem with them, but no driver I've tried will let the card actually talk with anything. It keeps trying to find a DHCP address and always comes up with a 169 address. Even when I specify a static IP it still won't see anything on the network.
DHCP is working for my on board NIC, and this card works in my XP installation on this same PC.
The driver that seems to "work" the best so far is this: Download HP Intel PRO/1000 Gigabit Driver 13.5.00 Rev.C for Vista64 Driver for Windows Vista64 - Softpedia
With that driver I actually get all of the nifty features in the driver properties page, and I've run all of it's diagnostic tests which all come up green.
Also worth nothing: I had this same problem with Windows 7 Beta.
A friend of mine gave me a D-Link Rangebooster N 650 and when i got home and i plugged it into my PCI port, nothing happened. No LED from the card itself, no notification from Windows, nothing. I tried another PCI port but nothing worked.

I am currently at school where I have to connect to the internet using XpressConnect ( Cloudpath Networks - WPA2 )The stuttering effects the entire system (sound, video, keyboard/mouse, etc) and lasts for a few secondsdditionally, it only occurs when streaming video/music online, or when playing online games.I have updated the drivers, and I have installed the drivers without the D-link software using device manager and selecting the driver files from my computer.

In the past I've migrated 7 from one hdd to another by doing a backup to a usb drive, then swapping the drives and restoring to the new one. What I need to do now is a twist on that. My MB is one of the new p67s that has the faulty intel sata ports, and will eventually be recalled. The 4 6Gps sata ports on the board are not affected by the chipset problem, so I plan on just using them instead (plus I just got a 6G seagate drive that I wanted to use anyway). What I envision happening is restoring to the new drive on an entirely different sata adapter and port #, and the system not booting. I assume I could get around this by booting to a command prompt and using bcedit, but am not 100% on that.
View 6 Replies View RelatedA few days ago I did a clean install of Windows 7. Now I have a problem. The computer is a wireless 'client'. It has a Realtek RTL8168D/8111D PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.20).
When I bring up Device Manager and expand 'Network adapters' I see "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller".
When I expand 'Other devices' I see "! Network Controller" (Note the exclamation point.) Double click on that and I see "The driver for this device is not installed. (Code 28). When I click on Update driver I get a message Can't find a driver. I have tried many times with different source folders and files and nowhere is a driver found.
I have gone to MSIs driver web page and downloaded the Realtek PCI-E Ethernet Driver for Windows 7 32/64 bit "realtek_pcielan_7_nb.zip", extracted the files and still no joy. (M/B is MSI G41M with Intel E7400)
There is a wireless icon in the tray. I click 'Open network and sharing center". No matter what I choose Windows 7 ends up telling me to plug in an Ethernet cable. No, this is a client not the server. I have verified that the NIC can connect to the computer with the Ethernet cable by using the old XP hard disk.
Any suggestions?

Today i bought a wireless G USB adapter, plugged into my laptop (windows 7 x86) and it worked fine installed correctly with the windows 7 drivers i downloaded from the advantek website.

I just upgraded a friend's HP desktop from Vista to Win 7. The Qwest 11n wireless adapter (actually an Actiontec 802ain) which worked fine in Vista, now has a problem. Everytime the computer is turned off and turned back on, the wireless adaptor disappears from Control Panel>Network Adapters, we need to reload the driver. The driver installation file is loaded on the adapter, we re-install it by unplugging/re-plugging the adapter into the usb port.It is kind of an odd install.t first the adapter shows up as a flash drive and autoplay prompts you to run Setup.exe., then it no longer shows up as a flashdrive._Windows_7.pdfso I do not have to reinstall the driver every time I turn on the computer?It was not like that on Vista.I am wondering if there is a service or something that needs to be started.Both Qwest and Actiontec have no ideas, they say the device is compatible with Windows 7.
