Feb 26, 2011

Since the installation, I have not been able to connect to the internet even though the connection is available.i have the following:network type: Access pointsecurity type wpa2-pskssid is listed correctly and is available for connectionradio type 802.11Realtek 8185 extensible 802.11 b/gchecked adapter and is working correctlytried resetting the routerrouter: linksys e1000 wireless-n routeri have discovered the following issues: the wireless adapter is not connectedthe Attempting to authenticate message is displaying

Driver for Linksys Wireless pci adapter will not install on Windows 7 x64. Is there anyway I can force it to install or extract the driver somehow? It worked fine in my Vista Home Premium 32 so it should work right?
i have a brand new toshiba laptop connected wirelessly. however it keeps showing connected however no internet access.i have a notebook as well that is brand new and it connects no problems what so ever.im using windows 7 home premium and 64 bit os.
i have a edimax usb adapter capable of 150mbps. also i have a router linksys e2000. the router is set to auto for the "N" connection. and its using 20 to 40mhtz. put it usually always connects at 72 mbps instead of 150.. sometimes when i switch a setting via my computer with the wifi, the usb connects at 150 but when i power down usually when i go to work, it goes back to 72 connection.
when i was trying to connect to my wireless network with the new Windows 7 lap top, I get the error as " adapter is not connected"- how do i connect adapter in windows 7?
My laptop has been playing up for the past two weeks, it keeps displaying 'limited access' despite my adapter claiming to be connected.I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro c650 and the adapter is the Atheros AR9285.I have system restored multiple times after which the internet works fine, its when I turn my laptop back on the problem seems to reoccur.Wireless Network Connection status says that my laptop is not connected to IPv4 or IPv6. I have no idea what any of this means and have been going out of my mind trying to decipher computer language.
I'm currently connected to the internet through a wireless network to post this thread. If I open the wireless network connections, under the list of network names, it says I'm connected. However, the taskbar icon shows no connection, and Windows recognizes no connection if, for example, I go to the Network and Sharing Center. This image shows what I mean. This problem applies to every wireless network, not just specific ones. This has been going on for almost a year, and hasn't really caused any problems, so I paid it no notice. However, I'm now discovering some problems. Since Windows thinks I'm not connected to a network, I can't do any of the following things:Create or join a homegroup Stream media to an XBox 360 Change network security settings (home/private/public) Pass Ubisoft DRM checks for a network connection?

I have been messing with my daughter's computer (Sony Vaio VGN-CS320J with Windows 7 professional) for days now and cannot connect to the wireless network that our other two laptops running Vista work fine on. This all started when my router went wonky and I had to go buy another power adapter for it. For some reason (I realize this is illogical.) I've been unable to get her back to our wireless network since then. Things I've tried:
1. Unplugged, reset both router and modem probably 50 times. 2. Connected her laptop directly to the router and confirmed the router settings that way. 3. Uninstalled wireless adapter (Intel Wi-Fi link 5100 AGN) and let startup re-install (numerous times) 4. Downloaded and installed latest drivers for said adapter 5. Copied my network settings from working laptop to the one that won't connect. 6. Deleted the network and recreated it (numerous times) 7. Tried to ping router unsuccessfully. (general failure) 8. System restore to a few different dates when said laptop WAS connecting. 9. Reset all the router settings via 192.168.1.1 (New name, SSID, key, etc.)Then created new network on non-connecting laptop with new settings.
I can see the wireless network, that's not the issue. However, I can't connect to it. I ran ipconfig/all and the adapter is listed as "media not connected". I'm using WPA2-personal for security if that matters. The only other think I can think of that it may be would be her antivirus software causing an issue. But then again, she had the same software installed and running a week ago and it wasn't an issue.
Resently I built a custom computer. I assembled it and it all looked good... but as it got to the startup of windows 7, just past the "starting windows" part, it reboots. Then I wanted to install windows 7 again to see if it would help. But when it gets to the "Starting windows" part, it stays there. I've tried countless things including: Testing the RAM, Changing the PSU, getting another windows 7 install disk, shifting the GPU. But none have worked the least.
What I am wanting to do is a custom install of Windows 7 Premium. I'm really no expert on all things Windows, but I have felt for a long time that simply installing Windows from the cd / dvd is not really the most efficient and "power user" way of doing things. I feel that in doing an install from cd / dvd that lots of things are added that are not needed, and that I do not have the kind of control over my operating system (where things go, etc.) that I could have.
I currently have windows vista home premium 64 bit installed, can i do a custom install of windows 7 professional 64 bit, or do I need to do a clean install?
I have a home build PC which I upgraded to W7 64bit and installed extra RAM (2gb up to 6gb). With the extra RAM the installed wireless adapter, Netgear WG311v3, does not work. Can anybody recommend a new wireless pci that will be compatible?
I just got my mother's computer back from a repair shop (they've changed the graphic card, the motherboard and the processor, the hard drive stayed the same)
It is a SONY VAIO VPCEE25fx.
I used my Windows 7 Ultimate OEM CD I had when I bought her the computer. But then, at the Custom Install step, it says No drivers or hard drive found. I've tried to reload, scan...none. I'm sure the hard drive is ok.
apparently, the 300 GB of files from my previous OS are still on my harddrive, but I cannot find them. Yes, I'm missing the 300 GB on my HD when I click My Computer, but they're not in this fabled windows.old folder that allegedly has them. I've even used TuneUp Utilities to detect where the data is on my computer, and it can't find them. Bizarre. So, what's taking up all that memory, and, more importantly, how do I get to it?
I have been having this problem with windows 7. A lot of the time windows 7 shuts off my wireless belkin adapter for my wifi. I check in power settings and under the wireless adapter settings I have choose a setting of maximum performance. But if I leave the computer for a while it seems to shut it off which is really anoying when I want to leave stuff downloading overnight.
I bought a wireless adapter (linksys) and am running win7 64 ultimate and the adapter isnt being able to enable. Ive spent about 2 hours on the phone with linksys who say its generally a problem only when theres an antivirus attached to the computer. I dont have any antivirus on this computer at the moment. Is there something in Windows 7 that might be holding it from installing correctly/enabling?
I recently re-installed Windows 7 to my new SSD. Now my Wireless Adapter wont work. It's a "Netopia 3D Reach (ter/gusb-n1)" adapter (usb). The drivers that i came across all say that this adapter only goes up to vista, which doesnt make sense because it worked perfectly before i reinstalled my OS. What's wrong? If you find any kind of Window 7 driver
I have recently purchased a new desktop PC which runs windows 7 (64 bit) My previous pc ran windows XP together with a wireless USB adapter (BT Voyager 1055) Where can I find a driver that will enable me to connect to the internet?
New HD in Dell Studio laptop, partitioned. Have tried valid/new DVD installing Windows 7 ultimate, custom, for clean install on clean drive. Gets through first 4 steps in install to first restart/reboot while in "completing installation" mode, and quits to black screen, no blinking cursor. Have reformatted partitioned drive to remove old Windows 7 efforts, but still no change. If I do Ctrl-alt-del, I get windows boot manager with 5 copies of Win 7 available. Advanced option f8 offers nothing. Memory diagnostics fine. Selecting any one of these Win 7 goes to blank screen, no cursor.
Recently I upgraded from an old core2 duo to an i5-2500 quad 3.3GHz, 16gb Patriot ram, Asus motherboard. I noticed the first time I booted up something was wrong with the voltages for my PSU (Corsair 520w modular) which I had used previously. I didn't get the details of it time before Win7 started. After that I have noticed the fan died in my PSU, so I'm not sure if this is causing my BSODs. I am using an NIC and onboard Audio, and a Geforce 430 video card. The details of my bsod are below. This has been ongoing for weeks now and it's very annoying. I recently updated my Win7, restarted hoping that would fix it. Also I've scanned with AVG, SuperAntiSpyware, and Malware Bytes. I am out of ideas since I have a new install of Win7 64bit.
BSOD (occurs when playing games or just idle): Problem signature: Problem Event Name:BlueScreen

There are programs to accomplish this, but here is the roll-your-own method of changing the Media Access Control (MAC) address of your wireless adapter.CHANGE YOUR WIRELESS MAC ADDRESS
The possible MAC addresses in Windows 7 for wireless adapters: X2-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX X6-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX XA-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX XE-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX WIN | cmd.exe | enter | Ipconfig /all > ipinfo.txtIpInfo.TXT has your original IP address.WIN | DevMgmt.MSC | ENTER | dbl-clk on Network Adapters |rt-clk on your ...Wireless Network Adapter | Properties | Advanced tab | select Network Address (in Property area) | Value radio button | enter desired MAC address | OK
Examples of MAC addresses: 023344556677 16A098765432 3Affeeddbbcc 4E44667799aa
WIN is the key with the Microsoft flag on top. MAC Media Access Control address
I installed a microsoft mouse and when I did the restart my wireless completely dissapered. I can get a conection using a cable, and the wire less signal is there because I am on in now (android) So... I`ll list every thing I've already tried so not to waste anyones time. After the Complete system restore...which I saw the wireless stuff reinstall I thought I was gtg..but sadly not even that worked. I looked up the drivers and tried installing, that failed. When you look in the device manager there is no wireless adapter It's an Acer Aspire 5253, win 7/64
Is there a windows 7 driver for a DWL-G122 wireless usb adapter? I have the installation CD that worked for my computer with windows XP, but my new computer with windows 7 won't register this usb adapter?
