View 1 RepliesI like to save hperlinks of web sites by click-dragging the site's address from the address bar in my browser and dragging the address into a subdirectory in Windows Explorer so that I can open it from that location in the future. With IE8 I was able to grab the icon at the front of the address bar and drag it into the subdirectory, creating a hyperlink to that web site. That same method works with Google Chrome. When I do that with IE9 the hyperlink is created but the tab separates from the browser window and opens in a new window. I'd rather the tab stay in the same window.how I can turn this off (the separating tab)?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded and unzipped a set of C project files from a Google code repository into a folder on my PC so that I can study the code. I would like to use search so that I can find the files where particular variables are used.In windows explorer, I browse to the folder at the top of the tree, and then in the search box I type a variable name that I know exists in one of the files. Search always comes back with "No items match your search".
View 4 Replies View RelatedBasically my internet explorer doesn't work. It just hangs on loading pages and eventually gets this error:
"This program cannot display the webpage
Most likely causes: You are not connected to the Internet. The website is encountering problems. There might be a typing error in the address."
I can still access the internet through chrome and Firefox though so it's an IE issue. I also can play online games fine.
Anyway, programs like Skype that use IE to load stuff such as adding contacts doesn't work. I have tried the following things:
-Reset internet explorer
-Downgraded to IE8
I am running windows 7 32 bit and am on cable.
My windows explorer search does not work at all, it use to work and when ever i typed in a word it would start searching for that word right away(file names) now nothing happens when i want to search.
View 1 Replies View RelatedJust got this computer about two weeks ago. My old XP Pro finally crashed and burned. I miss that machine. Win 7 is crap as far as I am concerned. Problem - Windows Explorer absolutely does not work. I try to copy and paste between drives or even on the same drive. Program starts out great and gets down to near the end and reads 5 seconds remaining. That is the end of the copy and paste. Furthermore, it is an ordeal to shut the damn program off. Sometimes I even have to pull the plug on the machine (and yes I know that is not good). I thought for a bit that some throttling program was the culprit but I am getting nowhere.

A friend and I determined that the virus was a Sirefef variation.Whenever I try to connect to any website in any browser aside from Internet Explorer x64 (Chrome, Firefox), the page will not load, and in Chrome, I get the following:This webpage is not availableThe webpage at <any url here> might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.Error 137 (net::ERR_NAME_RESOLUTION_FAILED): Unknown error. Firefox does not give any error message, aside from stating that it cannot connect to the webpage.I have run: MBAM (found some things; removed), TDSSKiller (found nothing), Microsoft Security Scanner (found some things; removed), and SUPERAntiSpyware (found nothing). When attempting to update, MBAM displays this error: I have tried "netsh winsock reset" and a few variations, and none have worked. My firewall seems to be bugged, but I do not know how to fix it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 on my computer. With IE8 as the default browser. I use AOL for my E-mail provider. For the past two days, the hyperliniks in my e-mail don't work when I click on them. I have the e-mail settings set to allow hyperlinks to work. IE8 is set to the default browser. I do have firefox also on the computer. But, removed it to see if that was maybe causing issues. No change.I re-installed the software for my mouse. Thinking maybe it became corrupted.
View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday my hyperlinks stopped working. So, for example, in Outlook where I can normally click a link within an email to go to the web page, I now can't (affecting all emails). I thought it might be an Outlook problem but today I notice there are other programs which should automatically go to a webpage which aren't functioning.I think I downloaded some dodgy software yesterday and uninstalled it, so almost certain that's what's caused the problem.I am using Win7, by the way.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI can hover over the link but I do not get the cursor to change into a "fist" it remains as it would if writing a Word document.I cannot recall changing settings and I have searched through Yahoo help but cannot seem to find a solution. I though perhaps that it could be that I have e-mails in plain text not html, but cannot find where to check. However I do get images in e-mails and so don't think it is plain text. How can I restore the function to be able to click hyperlinks? I am running Windows 7, 64 bit version, and Yahoo Mail classic.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI would like to know if it is possible to open hyperlinks in Outlook 2007 without installing IE8?
When I try to open a hyperlink from outlook message I get the following message:
"This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator."
Using
Outlook 2007
Window 7 Pro without IE8
I have Windows 7 64 bit and IE9 and Firefox loaded. When I click on a hyperlink within a trusted e-mail it says "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." I am the administrator but cannot get this to work. This has happened since I updated my IE a few months ago. I have tried the usual fixes but not registry key fixes as I try to leave them alone. Is that the only solution or is there something else out there? Should I remove IE9 and start over?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am facing the following interesting situation.[CODE]I was able to set up a hyperlink without any command line arguments for one cell, but then I had to set the value explicitly in the batch file as follows - Code: cd "%~dp0"notepad++sourcefile.txt -n3150 So this batch file opens the "sourcefile.txt" at line number 3150 in the Notepad++ editor. However, it's not practical to write a separate batch file for every such line number in the excel sheet. So I am wondering if it is possible to somehow pass the line number as an argument to the batch program.
