View 4 Replies View Relatedspent an hour searching for a topic like this - and I know the answer is out there - but I cannot find it. Can anyone point me to the right answer?I have 2 Windows 7 PCs on a switch. I can see the "Users" folder on the other PC over the network from both sides. But trying to open the administrative share (SHCPCC$) Windows throws me "Access denied".From another computer I can get my hands on - no problem. I can access the admin share without hassle. Why is one computer allowed, another not? I cannot figure out a difference between the systems. Small maybe - the user names I'm trying from, is the same on both computers. But I even try using login account "SHCPCSirHC" from SH2PC, and vice versa, "SH2PCSirHC" from SHCPC, passwords are the same. Nothing, just "Access denied", as if the passwords were wrong.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have disabled my Windows 7 log on prompt option, in order to run my "Auto Power on" application to log on automatically and schedule to start my torrent application.I have achieved disabling the Win 7 from asking from log on user name and password by Go to Start and type netplwiz in the Start Search and hit EnterThe User Accounts dialogue box will be displayed.NOTE: The abve image is I have just taken from the web for the reference and it is not the real imageNow uncheck Users must a enter username and password to use this computer option and pressOK. Thats all, now reboot your system and you will never see the login window any more. But after now I want to set back to normal default prompt screen while logon. In order to do this the OS is asking for administrative password, but in that prompt dialogue box, it is not allowing me to go ahead and enter my administrative password by enabling "YES" button(the yes button is disabled).NOTE: The above image is the real issue which I am facingThe actually problem is the dialogue box prompts and asking to enter the administrative password when ever I try installing software, but it is not showing any text input box to enter the password and also the "yes" button in the box is not enabled, only I can able to click "no" button

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've created a password for the guest account. Now I can neither change nor remove it. Logging on as admin I can't find a setting to change or remove guest account's password. Logging on as guest I am getting the "windows cannot change password" warning if I try to change or remove it.On guest account using ctrl+alt+del>"change password", now I get a "access is denied" warning. The whole issue has started with me seeing a warning on Bit defender's Vulnerability module telling that the guest account has no password. I clicked on it and created a password for my guest account from within BD.

I want to enable bluetooth on the laptop, but the Device Manager says it is disabled in the BIOS and to activate it with F10 on boot.. the problem is it asks for a BIOS password and I keep guessing and cant figure out what it is! Is there a simple way to reset the BIOS password or crack it? I took out the CMOS battery and waited 10 minutes, but that didnt do anything.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy idiot self put a password on my computer to protect it temporarially, then by gods sense of humor the computer shut down through loss of pwer. But the password didn't save correctly and now I can't get on my account. It's the only user, and whenever I try using safe mode with command prompt, it goes to the user log in screen, which defeats the purpose. In short, I need to reset my passdword, while not being able to log on in any way through the username. I would rather not have to wipe my harddrive, I have no recovery disc, nor partition for some reason. If I have to I will wipe my harddrive then download Windows 7 again, but I need to know how to do that first.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently spilled coffee on the key board of my Dell Inspiron 1545 Laptop and believe it shorted the keyboard. I have a new laptop I would like to migrate over the docs and pics I have on that laptop to, but I can't get past the Windows 7 password stage because my keys that I need to use to type it don't work.Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can reset my password or log in without a password? My mouse still works, so if I can get in, I will have no problems. Also, I tried connecting a USB keyboard and for some reason the keys don't work on that either. IE) both the laptop and the usb keyboard only have the backspace, and space bar that work.

I've got a folder shared to specific user on my Windows 7 laptop. When i try to access that folder over lan, from my Vista laptop, it doesn't ask me for user&pass, but just gives "Access denied" error message. If it's set as shared to everyone, then i can access it just fine. But i want it to be accessible only after password protection over lan. Both laptops are set to "WORKGROUP" and here are the network settings for the windows 7 one
Network Discovery: ON
File and printer sharing: ON
Public Folder Sharing: OFF
File sharing connections: Enable 40 and 56 bit encryption as well
Password protection sharing: ON
HomeGroup connections: Use user accounts and passwrods to connect to other computers
I have 2 HP laptops running Windows 7. I can access the puplic folder and printer sharing from the first laptop to the secound. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a small home network set up with 4 PCs (1 laptop & 3 desktop). I can see all my computers in my networks but I cannot connect to one of my desktops using my laptop. All the other computers/laptops can read and transfer files without a problem except for the laptop connecting to one of the PCs.
Both the laptop and the PC that is asking for a network password are on the same version of Windows 7 Home. I have file and printer sharing enabled. All are on the same workgroup. I have firewall off and I have turned off password protected sharing yet when I try to connect or print from my laptop to the one PC it asks for a password and I can't figure out why.
This only started recently a week ago. Prior to that never had this problem and shared files/printer without a problem

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have two computers both running Win 7, one in the bedroom and one in the living room and Id like to view files from the bedroom computer in the living room. They are connected via TPlink powerline adapters so a wired connection for both
I can access the living room PC from the bedroom PC via control panel/Network no problem
but when I try accessing the bedroom PC from the living room, I get the error message login failure: unknown username or bad password
I have tried the following:
-creating a new user account for the bedroom PC, and logging in using that account and password
-changing the advanced sharing settings in network and sharing centre to match exactly
Also, I can access when I Turn off password protected sharing but I am not sure of the security of having this setting off so I really want password protected sharing on
Maybe I'm just over thinking here, but say you hide a file, sure you can access it through changing the folder options from show to do not show. So whats the point of hiding stuff unless you're hiding it from someone who is a novice at windows 7. My main goal here, is to have a folder, which is password protected, and have it filled with things that can not be accessed through any means other than entering the correct password and therefore entering the folder. I basically want it to be completely impossible for someone to access the contents of the folder without the password.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Win 7 laptop and xp desktop on my network. When I try to access the xp desktop from the win 7 laptop, I sometimes get a dialog box requesting username/password. Other times I get a message box that I do not have permission to access the desktop. Other times still, everything works fine. The xp can access the laptop no problem. The laptop can always see the desktop in the network, the problem is accessing it to share files or use a printer attached to the desktop.I have no passwords on either computer. I have disabled passwords in the advanced network settings for home & work. Registry has LmCompatibilityLevel set to 3 on the laptop
View 9 Replies View RelatedSitting here in class and our professor was telling us admin it disabled by default in Vista/Windows 7 now for security reasons. I mentioned you can access it from a command prompt based program that comes in a bootable iso format you burn on disc.
I can not for the life of me remember what the name of that program was but a couple years ago I was working on a Win Vista system that got a virus that locked out the user by changing the user account passwords.
We Googled, found this program you burn on a CD and it brings up a menu that will allow you to reset the user account password, or log into the admin account.
My uncle recently purchased an Acer Aspire One computer, but they (walmart) did not switch the administrative rights over to him and it is still under their control. I can not access anything and it's annoying I tried system config and the password is valid, but they disabled programs and features.
