Unable To Save Any Docs In OFFICE 2010
Feb 28, 2011When I File -> Save As, I get a message "WORD has stopped working" Same results with all OFFICE applications. And with a separately installed copy of VISIO.
This may be a result of a hang in Easy Transfer. Easy Transfer was sitting for hours saying "1 minute" remaining. I terminated the program. The hang was in the administration section.
Can't Save Docs That Are Word 2007 After Downloading 2010
Sep 17, 2011I've just downloaded Student and Home Office 2010, and for some reason I now cannot open documnents that are Word 2007. I also cannot save work onto my memory stick, as for some reason, it saves the document as Word 2007, even though I am doing the work on Word 2010! (I only ever had a trial version of 2007, never the whole thing and it is no longer on my comp) I am starting a history course soon, and their online docs are 2007, and again, I can't open them. A message pops up saying that 'the file does not have a programme associated with it for perfoming this action' thats what pops up every time.

Dec 18, 2009I have spent the day editing a document which i stupidly just opened from an email attachment in my hotmail account and proceeded to edit. I diligently saved it throughout the day but did not use the save as function.
I have tried to open a similar document and choose save as to see where the document would have saved but this does not seem to work in Windows 7. I have tried looking in my 'temp' folder but this is empty.
Does anyone know how else I could retrieve this document? It is the only version i have...i really ought to have looked after it better!

Oct 13, 2011I am using Windows 7 in a Dell Inspiron and my live mail on my desktop will no longer open. I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but my battery went dead while the computer was on two days ago, but I've been able to get into the mail since.Windows Live Mail could not be started. The application was unable to open the Windows Live Mail message store. Windows Live mail was unable to locate the message database. If you've moved the database files to a new location, click OK to rest the database path to that location. Otherwise, click Cancel to proceed, any existing messages found will be available under Orphaned Accounts (0x00000000.2) If I click ok or cancel, I get: Quote: Windows live mail could not be started. The application was unable to open the Windows live message store. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. (0x8007002) So far, to attempt to remedy it: Run a disk check Restarted three times Run Repair on the Live stuff Tried system restore to four days ago I even removed my anti-virus (temporary of course) None of the above has any affect.How can I save my emails without being able to open the mail program itself? As one of the few idiots, I did not back up my emails. Where are the located? I figure if I can find them, pull them into another folder and the reload the Live stuff.

May 18, 2012I recently upgraded from XP to Win7. Now, when I have a file download or attachment, either in Outlook or any browser, it takes me to the File Save window. Before I could simply click on the attachment and it would open (unless it couldn't figure out what kind of file it was). This is a real pain when viewing pictures attached to an email. I've looked everywhere and can't find this issue addressed in any documentation. I've had Win 7 in the past and this didn't happen.

Aug 6, 2010I changed via the dialog the TEXT SIZE via the screen resolution in the control panel to CUSTOM SIZE.With one of the newer "Cinema" or Very Wide screen (1680 X 900) displays after I'd increased the text size to over 160 % I didn't get the possibility to SAVE any documents any more via the SAVE AS button. The SAVE dialog would appear but the SAVE button was missing.The effect was noticed in Office 2007 (all programs) Notepad etc etc.Seems to be a Windows fault as this should not be allowed to happen.on more traditional "Squarer" type monitors -- no problem.

Dec 19, 2011I've done all I can so to set WM as my default, it says it's default, but when I try to open an email filed in docs, and I have WM set to be the default, the only thing that happens is WM which is already open pops up, but not the file I clicked on. I had to set WM back up after SP1 and I've done everything I could find on this board, but I'm totally stumped now. I've installed SetWinMailDefault, don't know for sure it went in, but I thank it did. What would happen if I used that again, or manually put it in the registry?

I had previously had Foxit installed. I had to run a repair install of Adobe Reader (Control Panel>Programs and Features>Adobe Reader 9.2>Change>Repair
Then apply this registry fix and voila!
I would like to have Foxit and Adobe Reader installed, so not sure how to make Foxit the default reader but still maintain preview in Windows Explorer.

Jul 17, 2011He has a toshiba satellite, i5 with a GT 330M (geforce) and 4GB RAM (specifics i can find if needed)His issue is that over the last 5 days the laptop turns on slowish (not the end of the world) but the main issue is constant freezing (generally involving the little spinning blue circle cursor)If left for about 8 seconds it un freezes and get working agian then starts as soon as you open a document/folder/start menu anything!It has not had ONE BSOD the event viewer shows warnings for slow boot/slow after standby but no major criticals recently. There was one past critical for ACPI driver for NT but that was a while ago.There was also a shutdown error on8/7/11 from unkown file name, driver _iu14D2N.tmp He runs trend antivirus (real paid version)Also runs registry blue (i think thats the name) real version, but only recently to try and fix issues.If you look in task maanger, during the freezes, whichever folder is currently selected goes from running to not responding for the freeze.Even whilst shutting down the device, the "logging off" screen does the freeze for a few seconds and the circle doesnt spin.Perfom / check analysis showed no errors Attached is a Drriver view txt doc.Finally, he has mentioned his "hdd light" at the base of the lappy is permanently on, whereas it used to just blink a bit when you started doing tasks. He ran a chckdsk /f a few weeks ago and said it had been playing up but that seemed to get it running better, but running chckdsk now is saying its got about 4 bad blocks and /f wont run.

I can view gif, txt, xml, pdf, html, etc. In general, Office is working, i.e. I can create and edit Office documents.

Aug 1, 2012I just built a new desktop, got a 60GB SSD to boot Windows7 (and maybe a couple applications) from, and a 1.5TB HDD for storage. I'm trying to change the default location of My Docs, Downloads, etc from the SSD to the HDD (maybe change the location of the whole User folder?) so that my SSD stays clean with just the necessities.My problem is that I can't access the right-click menu that allows you to change the default location.Note: When I first installed Windows 7, all of my SATA ports were in IDE mode. I was able to access the "change folder location" menu for My Docs, etc, at this time. I changed the SATA port with my SSD to AHCI mode, which really boosted the boot speed, but I couldn't access the menu anymore after that.
