Up down arrows wil only scrol one line at a time. Furthure more Page up Page down wil only scrol one page at a time.I have to press arrow or Page key and wait 3 seconds before I pres again to continue.
View 5 RepliesI recently built a new rig and I had a problem with one stick of memory. The other stick worked alright, but I've been getting random failures. Can bad memory be inconsistent? Right now, I can't start my OS up at all. It goes straight to the Windows Repair Launcher, which fails. When it gets there, I can either find a restore point or let it 'attempt to fix' for as long as I can endure. The restore point option results in 'instruction xxx failed. memory reference xxx failed.'This leads me to believe there is a problem with the memory. But, could it be the motherboard? I played a video game for hours last night, as well as surfed the web and ran other applications. Everything was fine, until I shut down. This isn't the first time this happened. Last time, I 'fixed' it by switching the 'good' memory stick with the bad. The bad resulted in getting the OS up, but lots of BSOD's
View 7 Replies View RelatedSince early August all my Security updates have been failing. It adds time to each boot up period as it goes through the updates and then at the end will say it's failed and is reverting all the changes. I have already done some research on this issue and ran "sfc/scannow" as well as "chkdsk/f/r." Both seemed to go through with no problems. After that I did a Windows update and 12 updates seemed to go through with no problem until the required reboot where we're back to the same issue of failing and reverting.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI ran some software 'Vista Shortcut Overlay Remover' to get rid of shortcut arrowsHowever, it stopped me being able to pin files/progs to the Windows 7 Home Premium taskbar.I removed the program because its more important to me that I can pin programs. However it has now caused a different problem ... with the shortcut iconsAlthough I can now pin programs, the original shortcut arrows on my icons have been replaced by large white rectangles as though the original arrow image cannot be found.I tried deleting the IsShortcut key in the registry and this fixes the look of the icons. However, it stops me pinning again.

Not just in word but on all places I type using the computer, even this message!I use this key constantly as I am a secretary and do lots of documents and letters and it is driving me nuts not being able to use this function.When I reboot I sometimes get the function back for a short while then it disappears again.I have just had a brand new computer put in but it happened sometimes on my old PC too so I don't think it's a hardware issue. I am wondering if I have accidentally hit a combination of keys to disable it or something.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI can't copy/paste (I now get the scrolling arrows in it's place); even when the cursor is in positioned correctly, I have to press the keys a few dozen times before the letters appear, windows won't update anymore. I restored to before the last windows update, but that didn't help. If it helps. my bot's a Dell & the mouse/keys are wireless (all batteries replaced).
View 14 Replies View RelatedOk this is wierd I have a client using Office 2007 pro and some of her docs that she recently updated and the problem is when she prints the docs text that she deleted is printing over the top of new text she inserted into the doc.
Now when you have said doc open in WORD the deleted text is not there in any view and does NOT show in "print preview".
I opened said doc with WORDPAD and the deleted text shows up at the bottom so its still in the word doc somewhere imbedded so it prints over the top of the actual text in the doc.
I have a project where I need to search a large amount of text files on my home PC. I recently upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7. My research indicated this feature was available in Windows 7.
If you do a search in Windows XP, you get a bunch of fields. You can pick to search for text INSIDE the particular sub folder structure.
I have found this feature in Windows 7, but it is different. I have tried using wild cards but it does not seem to work properly.
How do I insert my pictures inside the text or beside the text so it won't use so much space?

View 1 Replies View RelatedAll of the sudden, when I want to copy and paste something in the same document, the formatted text (whether that be a certain font or bold) does not transfer over to the pasted text. For instance, if I wanted to copy the following bolded word word and then paste it anywhere else in the document, I now get this: word (without the bold). This applies to other cutting and pasting problems: this applies to other fonts and formatting (bold, my Greek font, etc).One more example: before today, if I wanted to cut a text out of my New Testament Greek program right in the middle of a paragraph, the Greek font (or whatever font) would paste normally no matter what font the target MS Word text was in.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've done all I can so to set WM as my default, it says it's default, but when I try to open an email filed in docs, and I have WM set to be the default, the only thing that happens is WM which is already open pops up, but not the file I clicked on. I had to set WM back up after SP1 and I've done everything I could find on this board, but I'm totally stumped now. I've installed SetWinMailDefault, don't know for sure it went in, but I thank it did. What would happen if I used that again, or manually put it in the registry?

I had previously had Foxit installed. I had to run a repair install of Adobe Reader (Control Panel>Programs and Features>Adobe Reader 9.2>Change>Repair
Then apply this registry fix and voila!
I would like to have Foxit and Adobe Reader installed, so not sure how to make Foxit the default reader but still maintain preview in Windows Explorer.

View 4 Replies View RelatedHe has a toshiba satellite, i5 with a GT 330M (geforce) and 4GB RAM (specifics i can find if needed)His issue is that over the last 5 days the laptop turns on slowish (not the end of the world) but the main issue is constant freezing (generally involving the little spinning blue circle cursor)If left for about 8 seconds it un freezes and get working agian then starts as soon as you open a document/folder/start menu anything!It has not had ONE BSOD the event viewer shows warnings for slow boot/slow after standby but no major criticals recently. There was one past critical for ACPI driver for NT but that was a while ago.There was also a shutdown error on8/7/11 from unkown file name, driver _iu14D2N.tmp He runs trend antivirus (real paid version)Also runs registry blue (i think thats the name) real version, but only recently to try and fix issues.If you look in task maanger, during the freezes, whichever folder is currently selected goes from running to not responding for the freeze.Even whilst shutting down the device, the "logging off" screen does the freeze for a few seconds and the circle doesnt spin.Perfom / check analysis showed no errors Attached is a Drriver view txt doc.Finally, he has mentioned his "hdd light" at the base of the lappy is permanently on, whereas it used to just blink a bit when you started doing tasks. He ran a chckdsk /f a few weeks ago and said it had been playing up but that seemed to get it running better, but running chckdsk now is saying its got about 4 bad blocks and /f wont run.

I clicked the 'turn off password' thing, but still cannot access docs and settings, cookies, and many other useful folders.

This may be a result of a hang in Easy Transfer. Easy Transfer was sitting for hours saying "1 minute" remaining. I terminated the program. The hang was in the administration section.
My company recently installed Windows 7 and Office 2010. Every time I try to open a excel file, via a link on our Intranet it asks for credentials.I ruled out IE, firewall, and the document. I narrowed it down to something in Excel except i can't find it. Its like a security setting.I was able to open the file when I had Office XP installed but as soon as i installed Office 2010 it won't work.

I can view gif, txt, xml, pdf, html, etc. In general, Office is working, i.e. I can create and edit Office documents.
On a related note, I would also like to be able to javascript files which are just plain text, but I'm not sure how to do that.
