had very recent blue screen event using XP. Local guy 'fixed' it and put Windows 7 on my PC. Now I can't print anything at all, despite re-installing printer and Office software. System demands that I save any doc first (as tif file only, no alternative format allowed) then won't print it anyway?
View 3 RepliesA week or two ago I encountered the Kernal Data Inpage Error blue screen event. I had the university brains look over it then remote Dell technical support. After the technician was done it seemed to be much better. Even a bit quicker! (This computer is nearing 1 year old. Alienware M14x laptop, Windows 7)But the blue screen came again a couple times today while I was modding Skyrim. I did chkdisk, ccleaner (both cleaned and registry checked), disk defragmenter, disk cleaner, malware scan, and everything seems to have done what it was supposed to. No blue screens yet (i could try to provoke one with that same file?) but Skyrim is so much slower. Last night I was on high graphical settings with 40+ fps, now its lagging below 30fps. I did all of the above and a restart here n there.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been experiencing seemingly random crashes and auto-restarts of my computer that started a couple months ago. When it crashes, the video feed to my monitors stops so they go dark and say no signal and any sound that was playing begins stuttering; after about 10 seconds my computer restarts, so apparently there was a bluescreen that I could not see and the delay was windows saving the crash dump.The problem is that the crashes are completely random; well, not completely, they only occur when I'm playing a fullscreen game, never when browsing the web or watching videos. About a month ago I freshly reinstalled windows 7 on a spare hard drive; hoping the problem was somehow related to 'garbage' and a fresh install would fix it. It stopped... for a while, and then started back up again.
I did some googling recently, found that someone with a similar issue had fixed it by upgrading their drivers; did so and found several including mobo inf and related were very out of date. That was about a week ago. When Skyrim was released on the 11th I did a marathon gaming session that lasted about 30 hours (yeah, I know) with zero computer issues whatsoever.Then, yesterday afternoon I started playing Skyrim again.. and it crashed again randomly about 2 hours into my play. Crashed again about an hour later; and then this evening it crashed like 10 minutes into my play session.I don't normally ask for help with computer issues; I've always fixed them myself with assistance from googling stuff and forums that helped me figure out what to do, but this is beyond me.
I built my current system december '08, upgraded the graphics card to the current gtx 570 last december and upgraded my OS from vista to 7 a few months ago. The rest of my system info is in my system profile stuff. Brief version below:

Also, my system runs quite cool; normal cpu idle temps are 84 F and system 120 ish. I've never experienced any graphical corruption either.One other thing I just recalled. Before about november 8th, these crashes used to say they were related to:Event 18 WHEA-logger A fatal hardware error has occurred.

New win 7 pc, had old HD fitted as slave drive, can see & move photos across but wife christmas card mail list (all I really need from old docs) will not view/move/print. If they can be moved there does not seem to be a labels template in win 7 word pad. surely the designers should have expected home premium user to want to write a few labels once a year!

It is pretty random, sometimes won't happen for two days, happens while gaming, happens back to back, happens when I'm just web surfing. Googling has led me into 20 different answers about dumps and drivers that left me clueless. The only things I know is that my nvidia 9800 gtx+ drivers are up to date, and my pc keeps telling me to update my amd drivers even though I don't have an amd card.

Now, for some reason, Recent Items on the Start Menu only seems to display links to documents and saved web pages. It will not store the mp3 I use or any piece of music for that matter. View 5 Replies View Relatedone day it suddenly crashed while i was watching a movie. it displayed random patterns on screen. kinda like part of the image from the video is on the screen then a black strip and random colors. I restarted the unit to safe mode and left it on and browsed the net and downloaded some big files for how many hours and nothing happened.. there are also times when windows is still loading with the windows logo on screen, it crashes. there are also times when the login screen is displayed and it crashes. it just crashes randomly! so i tried to reformat it. i deleted the partitions and created a new one, formatted it then fresh installed windows 7 ( my previous OS is windows 7 by the way) and started installing the basic drivers and after a few hours, it crashed again...thinking that the driver installed might not be compatible, i tried another fresh install of windows (same execution, delete partition, create, install OS) and this time, without installing the drivers, it crashed again after a few hours... sometimes it crashes immediately after turning it on from cold start!
View 7 Replies View RelatedBasically my laptop has been having very high temperatures for a long time (usually ~60C for CPU and often 100-110 for GPU...insanely high, in other words) For example, see how hot the machine gets just by resuming from a sleep (this is all within a minute or so):I have been seeing the following error in event viewer each time I start Windows (4 entries) for some time:So today I bit the bullet and had the back cover off the laptop and noticed what a bad state the thermal compound was in, for both the CPU and the chipset chip, so wiped it off using TIM Cleaner, and then applied new thermal compound and put the laptop back together. I was actually shocked because for the first time since I can remember, I could feel cold air blowing from the vents of my laptop! I logged into Windows and noticed that my temperatures had fallen and were staying at around the below:Not as low as I'd like but a massive improvement. Trouble is, I am still getting the WHEA-Logger event errors in Windows Event Viewer ('processor core') and wondered if this was not in regards to overheating after all?The plus side is my laptop is now almost totally silent - the way it must have been when I bought it new 3 years ago! But I was wondering how to investigate these WHEA-Logger errors?PS - I think I accidentally got some TIM Cleaner spilt on the carpet. Might be nothing to worry about, but I did notice the "Harmful" hazard symbol on the bottle?
View 2 Replies View RelatedBlue screen and freezing. This is happening frequently but never has any regularity to it. Sometimes happens after a couple of days and sometimes after a couple of minutes. Also sometimes with only one browser window open and sometimes with 15 or more. Happens with both chrome and firefox. Has not happened with other programs as this lapy only gets used for surfing/email/forums etc. Sometimes happens while the computer is sitting idle right after boot. Very strange.

This has begun to appear this morning and every 2 or 3 mins
Clean install from Microsoft image and valid key from Microsoft.
Problem:
Computer rarely restarts during the time I am using it. It restarts if I leave stuff downloading overnight or if I leave on during the day. I then have to re-install any software I installed the previous time because it says it was shutdown improperly ( CRASHED).
I then check the Event logger and see it has multiple crash reports.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am an avide genealogist and use Ancestry and Find my Past as research sites, I have been using these sites for a number of years and been able to print from these sites certificates etc that I have found in my research. Of late I have experienced an anoying problem in that I cannot print these any more from the screen shot, if I save the screen as a file to a folder I am able to open the files and print from the file.
I know that both these sites use Djview as a viewer for viewing the files from their sites, but if I can view them surely I should be able to print.
I have a duel boot desk top computer. Windows Xp x 32 and Windows 7 x 64. I modified my server load screen and wanted to check it so I hit the print screen key and pasted it to paint and all I get is a back screen instead of the load screen image. Then I took a image of my desk top and the image is fine. Did the same thing on windows xp and everything is fine,the load screen image and the desk are image are coming out just the way there suppose to. Is there a setting that I'm missing on windows 7 that could be causing my problem.

I'm assuming it's a BIOS driver problem, but i'll leave it up to you guys to tell me, you're the experts :P I also tried doing a system restore, but for whatever reason when I try it just says the restore is initializing and it sits on that screen and never does anything. I've left it for about an hour before and still nothing, not real sure what the problem is there either. Right now I'm running the laptop off safe mode with networking and it's working fine, hopefully it's just a driver problem I can fix.
I'm on Windows 7 32bit and let me know if you need any more information.
i have a windows 7x64.Yesterday while watching videos my screen started jumping and crashed to a blue screen with(QPR is not less or equal i think) and after that i restarted and it came with other errors.Now when i switch on the laptop it only shows black screen with no option to do anything.

Proc : Intel core i7 CPU 970 @3.2 GHz, 3201 Mhz,

So the problems I used to have was when as soon as I logged on to skype or pressed print screen, the entire computer would freeze and there was nothing else I could do exept for a hard reset. When looking for a solution online I found a command for cmd prompt which disabled some debugging; ( even though I have absolutely no idea what this does, I always feel like shutting down parts of windows is not such a good idea)

I used this command rebooted and to my relief i was able to take screen shots without freezing my entire PC. Unfortunately when I run skype now and log in, my computer freezes and gets a BSOD : 0x00000101, Something about a time signal from a co-processor which wasn't received on time.
