I know there is a tool available to test my computer to see if it's capable of running Windows 7. My question is this: Is there a tool available that I can run on the server that will test all machines on my network? With the free Windows Upgrade Advisor, I must visit each computer. Just looking for a way to do this without visiting each computer.

I needed the Gateway updater to update my Gateway drivers and I also realized the Gateway logo isn't shown anymore on the Windows 7 properties. My Microsoft Speed Score is lower than before for some odd reason (4.9 - 3.6 with the latest Intel driver) and I my computer's fan is louder and is heating up faster than before. I have some digital images that I want to post on another forum. That forum has a size limitation. My images are too large.
Does Windows 7 provide me the tools to resize those images and save them back into either their source folder or to another location.

View 3 Replies View RelatedToday some maintenance personnel were working on my bathroom in my apartment. I stepped out to take care of some errands while they worked. I put my computer into sleep mode (NOT hibernation - Actually sleep mode). When I got home, I realized that all of the clocks were flashing "12:00" and my computer was powered off. When I talked to the maintenance crew, they said that they had encountered a problem in the bathroom and caused a short. This, in turn, tripped the breaker that my computer room was on, which they then reset. This means that my computer, at minimum, experienced a hard power loss while running. It may or may not have experienced a surge (!), though it is on a surge protector. And the surge protector did not have its safety lights lit to indicate a surge.
Unfortunately, since using the computer I'm noticing a lot of oddities. I played some TF2 to unwind, and for the first time ever it crashed. My Video Card got stuck in "uplocked/3D" mode. Web browsing was slower than I'm used to, and overall it seemed like the computer picked up a lot of 'chugging' where it hadn't before. Is there some method to diagnose the general health and well being of my computer in windows? Are there tools beyond CHKDSK that I can run to locate problems that may have occurred as a result of a power surge? I'm concerned that the power loss damaged my components significantly, and I'm not sure how to diagnose the problem or determine if it's all in my head.
Here are my specs, if that's important:
Windows 7 Pro x64
i7 core 920 CPU
eVGA x58 mobo
eVGA GTX 275 Video Card (197.13 drivers)
Corsair 850 W PSU
6 GB RAM
Before upgrading to Windows 7, Hardware Diagnostic Tools was removed. Now I am trying to reinstall - Operating on 64bit - having trouble - only 32 comes up.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI installed Windows 7 a few months ago. I started having problems soon after. So I reinstalled Win 7, Friday. The same problems continued. One that my son found was when we installed Spy Sweeper. That made it impossible to switch between users, so we uninstalled it. The other major problem has been the Developer's Tools window that pops up when I try to type any reply or information into any program on the internet. I can't get rid of it by hitting the X. After about an hour on the computer, that stops. Does anyone have an idea on what could cause this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy flat mate set up a security thing called Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools. What this does is, upon start up, before it lets you load windows, you need to enter a password and pin. Clearly, it is anoying, so he handed it to me to get rid of it. It will not uninstall, as it says it is still active, and must be deactivated. I went into services - found it - disabled it. I went into some .msc thing i saw on the HP forums, disabled it. I went into the BIOS - Disabled it. I have disabled every aspect of it, however, it will still not uninstall, and continues to ask for a password and pin prior to windows starting.
