View 2 Replies View RelatedI was working with two drives and mixed them up on a format. What is on the drive isn't essential, but it would be nice to see what was lost, so I can go from there. Can anyone recommend a way to get it back? It just happened and I haven't put anything else on the drive since it happened. Hit Quick Format, and stopped the formatting about 10 seconds into it, sucks

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy son is running Windows 7 Pro on a sad little 1 Gb RAM PC 3.4 GHz and of course it is somewhat underpowered and the PC is badly in need of a formatiing anyway..Problem is I can't get to a Format command anywhere??????I can get into BIOS OK, set the DVD as first boot option but when I save it (F10) and then it reboots, the screen always comes up with the "Start Windows Normally" option! I can reach the "boot from any CD/DVD option but for some weird option the arrows on the keyboard will not alow me to move away from this latter choice yet the board works fins with everything else.I can't get it to boot from the original Win 7 CD, Windows Vista or even Pro OS's ................ so of course again cannot get to the format command.I have created a System Recovery Disc but I am not 110% sure how to use this disc but nonetheless cannot seem to find an option for formatting there anyway.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy power supply on my old comp died, so it was time to upgrade computers, I went from running windows XP to windows 7 now. I saved my old "previously upgraded" 320g wd internal drive to recover the data to my new machine. I got an external drive enclosure, installed everything but windows is telling me I don't have "access" to the drive. When I go into disk management, it sees the drive but it's not initialized, nor will it let me initialize it when I try.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI happen to have reinstalled by mistake a new Windows7 OS on a drive (I had two drives one with an OS and another with a bitlocker drive used for back up, both drives were IDE drives and the bitlocker was under slave mode if that hosted very important data and was encrypted by Bitlocker. How to recover this formerly encrypted data? The drive is now recognized as an active healthy partition with an associated drive letter (different from the original one). I don't have the bitlocker key.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been having problems with Windows 7, then I formatted and that fixed the problem. However, is there a way to get my back all of my old files? If so, I'd like to know. I tried using the Emergency Backup and that recovered a couple of my old files. But there are still a lot of files that couldn't be recovered by the backup. Is there anyway I can recover other files that were lost when I formatted? I've tried a few things like Pandora Recovery and EASEUS, but they didn't do exactly what I wanted them to. They seemed to only be able to recover certain file types and not special file types. Any way I can restore all the files I had before I accidentally formatted?

I really want to format my hard drives (completely)....my question is:
do I need to re-install my xp, get all the updates (SP2, 3, etc.) before running a clean install of Windows 7 Upgrade Version? Or can I start right from the Windows 7 disc and use my xp key/disc if required?
I know I could do this when going from '95 to xp (yes I'm old).
I hooked up a a mac formated drive to my pc. It didnt show up. so I went to disk manager and looked at it in there once. a option box came up listing something about a boot drive or GUID. I picked GUID and down the drive still has the info on it but will not show allow ascces on pc or mac.
