Windows Error Recovery Screen Keeps Coming Back

Dec 23, 2011

My mothers Dell running Windows 7 has a problem where, soon after powerup, the screen goes to a Windows Error Recovery screen featuring two options, either A) Launch Startup Repair, or B) Start Windows Normally. If A is chosen, then it goes to a screen which says, Loading files at the bottom with a loading bar, then when the bar is full, the screen returns right back to the Windows Error Recovery screen. The same with starting normally.

Moving Unallocated Space PAST Recovery Partition, OR Destroying Recovery All Together?

Dec 25, 2012

I have Unallocated space at the very end of my hard drive, even after the 25gb Recovery Partition, this is due to copying my old hard drive onto this new one via Clonezilla, and it automatically keeping the unallocated space at the end. Can I either move the unallocated space around the Recovery Partition, or delete the Recovery Partition altogether? Sorry if I am being a little unclear.

Disc ASUS Recovery Error 1029, Cannot Boot Into That Recovery Partition

Jun 23, 2012

I've gotten to the point where I need to just reinstall windows completely on my Asus G74SX (too many problems, I want to start fresh.). I encounter an error 1029 with Asus's recovery disks that I made when I had windows working: it says it is recovering all the way to 100% then doesnt work. I am in the process of trying it again so I'll see if it actually managed to wipe my hard drive like it said it was doing, and maybe if it did actually work and reinstall windows. However, I'd like to be able to get into the recovery partition because I would prefer restoring it with Asus as they recommend me to. However, when I hit F9, their target to get there, it doesn't do anything and just reloads the boot screen, with the Asus logo on it. I don't have an actual Wndows recovery CD so that's not an option, and at this point since my hard drive has likely been wiped by these recovery DVDs, I don't think going into Ubuntu and fixing the MBR will do me much good anymore. It may be worth noting that before I last restarted, I marked the Windows partition as active because of a tutorial here, making it so that recovery partition isn't active anymore.

XP Recovery Console Versus Vista/7's Recovery Console?

Nov 19, 2011

It seems to me that XP's recovery console is somewhat better than the one that comes with Vista or 7, unless someone can point me in the right direction for finding further documentation on this topic.

The main difference is the lack of ability to tinker with services (LISTSVC / ENABLE / DISABLE commands). A missed opportunity is the lack of registry tweaking, considering that REGEDIT can be run, but I think it only allows you to look at the registry for the recovery console rather than the main Windows installation, which doesn't help much (though I haven't tried to import/mount the registry file from the main Windows installation).

Back Up With Windows 7 X 64

Jul 1, 2011

I have read pitting imaging against registry backup which are clouding my choice.

1-Erunt requires that you turn UAC off for ERUNT and not to use it automatically. ERUNT has not been updated since 2005.
2-System restore and Norton = must Norton turn tamper protection off to restore.
3-system restore = do not use safe mode(good back up) but you cannot restore afterwards.

I have 2 questions, assuming the above is true;

1= does registry backup cause more trouble than imaging.
2-Acronis and Macrium are good but is Win 7 back up restore as reliable with 64 bit? It is limited but I am concerned about the reliability as oppsed to the other two.

How To Get File's Back On HDD

Oct 1, 2011

I have HDD Hitachi 80 gb. before, I intend to re-install the hard drive with windows xp, after page division of the partition appears, I see a dynamic drive with a capacity 765XX Mb with a drive letter listed like this (- so i delete the partition and then I create a partition 30 GB for C: and rest for D: then after installed, my friend told me that in fact there are a lot of data in it that 75% is owned data.

how could I? I still can restore its data with the abstractions of folders and files as before? I've tried Active @ Partition Recovery from boot disk. None outcome. found multiple partitions ... but I can not recover

I try not to lift the partition. then I use File Recovery again ... I just found a Folder is missing the rest are listed! LOST & FOUND! with millions of folders and each folder in it only consists of 2 3 or 1 files uncovered.

How To Get Back Password

Jan 7, 2013

I followed an online tutorial to hide my admin account by changing my registry so my mom couldn't get in. I kept myself out also. I tried doing a lot of stuff to retrieve it, but nothing would work because the only account I have left is a guest account, therefore, no admin permissions. One thing I think I can still do, though, is a system restoration point, but somehow, my previous restoration point was deleted. What if, and I'm going out on a limb here, I saved a restoration point off of my friends computer onto a flashdrive and used that for my computer? We have the exact same OS (Windows 7 Premium 64bit). I plan on doing that, then doing a complete system restore back to the factory settings.

new here and not computer savy. My problem is that I resently loaded windows 7 ultimate 64. I had already back up my files about month earlier using Nero 7. Nero 7 will load but will not restore my back up dvds. Nero 7 did not load properly but did load. Since then I uninstalled Nero 7 and loaded a trial version of Nero 12. It will not restore my back up either. I would love to get all my files back but the main concern is my picture files.

No Need To Back Up Files

Sep 26, 2012

I was working on my files when suddenly all icons turned into Adobe Reader icons. The suggestion was to uninstall Adobe Reader (I did), save Windows 7, then fix the registry, etc. or try to reinstall Adobe Reader. After three tries using a different browser and the icons reappearing all over the desktop, blocking all other items, I decided to follow Cnet suggestion to install FOXIT 5.0 Reader. I did and I can read all my files perfectly.I was afraid to mess up Windows 7, the Registry and who knows what else.
