View 2 Replies View RelatedOn some foolish whim I (yes, I know) made the mistake of trying to update the BIOS for my Windows 7-bearing Compaq laptop. The update failed and now whenever I simply let it boot it goes to a black screen and makes a loud beeping sound. I can operate Windows normally if I tap escape once and boot from that menu.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to take out windows 7. I really like it, but I am finding more and more conflictions with the programs and sites I use each day. Example: Windows 7 does not support Microsoft Office Live where my website is, or World of Warcraft (video card problem). Both work fine on XP. So i decided to revert back. Problem is when I boot up I have three options.
"OLDER VERSION OF WINDOWS", "WINDOWS7" AND "SYSTEM RESTORE". Now system restore and older version of windows brings me to the same page and asks me for an admin password. A password that was never set up. We never put a password on this computer. I just tried clicking enter to bypass the nonexsistant password but that didnt work. After 3 attempts it boots me.
How do I roll back?
I also have the Pavilion Slimline by HP which doesnt require a disk and key to reformat the computer, its built in.
id like to roll back from windows 7 to xp.
I have xp service pack 3.....any problems other than xp can only support 4MB of memory
I am tired of reinstalling Windows every time due to viruses and slow down on PC.
I read some where that there are softwares called 'disc imaging software' or something that can restore windows back to the way it was when it was installed (Freshly installed windows) .
The other day I was experiencing some issues with my ATI 4350. I updated to the new 9.2 driver when it became available and didnt have any issues. I went to play my Test Drive game and i lost the sound and also game would freeze. I decided to roll back the driver to see if it would fix the prob and BAM! I got a BSOD! very unexpected! First time I utilized the driver roll back option in Windows 7. I was wondering if this is a known issue? Anyone else experience this?
I know my hardware is in good shape so I decided to do a system restore and all seems fine now when I play Test Drive.
I want to ask if I rolled back to previous version of a device driver will this cause corruption or damage to the laptop as after I have updated to a recent version there seems to be some issues and I want to roll back?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have read pitting imaging against registry backup which are clouding my choice.
1-Erunt requires that you turn UAC off for ERUNT and not to use it automatically. ERUNT has not been updated since 2005.
2-System restore and Norton = must Norton turn tamper protection off to restore.
3-system restore = do not use safe mode(good back up) but you cannot restore afterwards.
I have 2 questions, assuming the above is true;
1= does registry backup cause more trouble than imaging.
2-Acronis and Macrium are good but is Win 7 back up restore as reliable with 64 bit? It is limited but I am concerned about the reliability as oppsed to the other two.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have HDD Hitachi 80 gb. before, I intend to re-install the hard drive with windows xp, after page division of the partition appears, I see a dynamic drive with a capacity 765XX Mb with a drive letter listed like this (- so i delete the partition and then I create a partition 30 GB for C: and rest for D: then after installed, my friend told me that in fact there are a lot of data in it that 75% is owned data.
how could I? I still can restore its data with the abstractions of folders and files as before? I've tried Active @ Partition Recovery from boot disk. None outcome. found multiple partitions ... but I can not recover
I try not to lift the partition. then I use File Recovery again ... I just found a Folder is missing the rest are listed! LOST & FOUND! with millions of folders and each folder in it only consists of 2 3 or 1 files uncovered.
i want to back up all other programs & files (music, games, docs, etc), and but not the c:drive system disc, how do i do this using macrium free (or windows back up which ever works best)?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI followed an online tutorial to hide my admin account by changing my registry so my mom couldn't get in. I kept myself out also. I tried doing a lot of stuff to retrieve it, but nothing would work because the only account I have left is a guest account, therefore, no admin permissions. One thing I think I can still do, though, is a system restoration point, but somehow, my previous restoration point was deleted. What if, and I'm going out on a limb here, I saved a restoration point off of my friends computer onto a flashdrive and used that for my computer? We have the exact same OS (Windows 7 Premium 64bit). I plan on doing that, then doing a complete system restore back to the factory settings.

Nero 7 will load but will not restore my back up dvds. Nero 7 did not load properly but did load. Since then I uninstalled Nero 7 and loaded a trial version of Nero 12. It will not restore my back up either. I would love to get all my files back but the main concern is my picture files.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI was working on my files when suddenly all icons turned into Adobe Reader icons. The suggestion was to uninstall Adobe Reader (I did), save Windows 7, then fix the registry, etc. or try to reinstall Adobe Reader. After three tries using a different browser and the icons reappearing all over the desktop, blocking all other items, I decided to follow Cnet suggestion to install FOXIT 5.0 Reader. I did and I can read all my files perfectly.I was afraid to mess up Windows 7, the Registry and who knows what else.

View 3 Replies View RelatedProblem Description: I was using Windows 7 (64 bit) and having difficulty operating some CS4 applications even when I changed the compatibility settings. I decided to clean install the 32 bit version of Windows 7 to see if this would remedy the problem. I had purchased the Windows 7 Professional package so both discs were available to me. The CS4 situation did not improve. However I am not concerned with the CS4 issue at present

I've archived many movies to Disc using the very excellent AnyDVD software - I've copied them as ISO's - complete copies of the originals whatever the size but obviously removed region coding B/S and CSS.If I want to play these again on a normal DVD player (not a Computer) which can play DVD RW / DVD RAM etc how can I get say a 6 GB iso dual layer or whatever the original iso format is on to one or more 4.7 GB standard DVD's so I can play the disc on the DVD player.I don't mind losing subtitles, different sound tracks etc as I've still got these on the original ISO copy on disc but I want to keep the HIGHEST POSSIBLE screen resolution -- preferably the original if possible.Eventually I'll be able to STREAM the archived ISO to the TV but It will be a while before I set up a decent multi-media server.Divx is no good -- it compresses the image too much for a decent high quality large size LCD TV.The DVD player also does a really good job of upscaling "normal" DVD's to 1080p - very little discernable difference between a DECENT upscaled normal DVD and a "Blu Ray" one --- and without the added complexity of having to go through hoops with Blu Ray protection -- so you can play a DISC YOU HAVE PAID FOR on YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT.Don't you just hate all this stuff stopping you from using the media wherever you want -- didn't work for music and its not going to work for video media too -- but that's aanother whole issue.

I have been having problems where a person will be logged into the vm, then minimize it to work on other things. When they try to get back on the vm, they have to log back in, but are informed that they domain cannot be reached. The only way I have been able to solve this is to un-join the vm from the domain, then rejoin it to the domain. The vm will be in hibernation when the login attempt is made. Is there a setting I need to make to keep this problem from happening
