XP And Win 7 Conflicts - Roll Back

Sep 18, 2009

I want to take out windows 7. I really like it, but I am finding more and more conflictions with the programs and sites I use each day. Example: Windows 7 does not support Microsoft Office Live where my website is, or World of Warcraft (video card problem). Both work fine on XP. So i decided to revert back. Problem is when I boot up I have three options.

"OLDER VERSION OF WINDOWS", "WINDOWS7" AND "SYSTEM RESTORE". Now system restore and older version of windows brings me to the same page and asks me for an admin password. A password that was never set up. We never put a password on this computer. I just tried clicking enter to bypass the nonexsistant password but that didnt work. After 3 attempts it boots me.

How do I roll back?

I also have the Pavilion Slimline by HP which doesnt require a disk and key to reformat the computer, its built in.

Way To Roll Back BIOS?

Dec 9, 2012

On some foolish whim I (yes, I know) made the mistake of trying to update the BIOS for my Windows 7-bearing Compaq laptop. The update failed and now whenever I simply let it boot it goes to a black screen and makes a loud beeping sound. I can operate Windows normally if I tap escape once and boot from that menu.

Roll Back Driver = BSOD

Apr 14, 2009

The other day I was experiencing some issues with my ATI 4350. I updated to the new 9.2 driver when it became available and didnt have any issues. I went to play my Test Drive game and i lost the sound and also game would freeze. I decided to roll back the driver to see if it would fix the prob and BAM! I got a BSOD! very unexpected! First time I utilized the driver roll back option in Windows 7. I was wondering if this is a known issue? Anyone else experience this?

I know my hardware is in good shape so I decided to do a system restore and all seems fine now when I play Test Drive.

Port Conflicts

Dec 2, 2009

I use my computer aboard a 47' Sailboat primarily for navigation and communications. As such, I run multiple external devices. To name a few:

WiFi Cards (2)

GPS

Pactor Modem

Iridium Satellite Phone

Verizon Aircard

Telcel Aircard

You get the picture. I was unable to accomplish a very simple task using VISTA, to wit, being online with my Verizon Aircard and using one of the WiFi cards to access my wireless printer.

I finally downgraded to Windows XP and this is never a problem anymore. A Verizon tech once gave me an explanation of why this couldn't be done in VISTA, but unfortunately the explanation went over my head.

Does anyone know if this problem has been fixed in Windows 7, or does that OS have similar problems as VISTA handling multiple communications devices operating simultaneously on different USB ports?

Very Slow Performance IRQ Conflicts?

Feb 24, 2010

I own an ASUS G1 laptop that I use for gaming, especially online gaming. The laptop itself dates back to 2007 therefore it came in with Vista pre installed. The performance was good there, both offline and online but somehow I wanted to give Windows 7 Professional a try, and there began the issues.Overall the performance is very bad ; I encounter many lags, audio stuterring while browsing, mouse lag, applications taking ages to launch, bad fps. On games that should run fine (that my laptop should handle without any problem), I've noticed that the framerates are decent offline but whenever I join a server online, I get hugefps drops. This solution partly helped : "lag" in online games with Windows 7 - by disabling network throttling on multimedia class scheduler, I've managed to reduce fps drops online, but the issue ain't gone completely, and my overall performance remained low, gaming aside. Is it normal to have so many ISA lines ? Is it normal to have 3 devices sharing same IRQ (16) ?

3rd Party Firewall Drivers Conflicts

Nov 11, 2009

I am using a new dell computer with windows 7 64bit. I have had it about 10 days. Everything is running very smoothly except for trying install a firewall. The 2nd day I had it I tried installing a 3rd party firewall and the installation went fine and told me to restart the machine. When I did it started shutting down windows and then starting it back up....then all of a sudden a BSOD flashed and I was taken to the screen with options to either start in safe mode or start normally.

I tried to start normally but the same thing happened so I booted in safe mode and did a system restore and then they computer booted up normally. I thought this was a fluke so I tried a different firewall and the same thing happened. I have since tried 3 different firewalls and this happens every time.

The first part of the BSOD when it occurs says this DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

stop:0x000000D1

I have tried to zip up the minidump folder but even though it is set to save minidump files the folder remains empty and won't let me zip.

From what I have been reading I think I am having some kind of conflict with the 3rd party kernel drivers these firewalls are trying to install. Why I am having this problem.....I do not know....nor do I know how to fix it. Of course I could be totally wrong.

I have successfully been using windows 7 firewall control plus, which does not install any 3rd party kernel drivers, without any problems. So, I guess I will stick with that unless I can figure out why I am having conflicts with the 3rd party kernel drivers and how to reso.

Can't Delete Catalyst 12.6 Fully, Conflicts With 12.7?

Jul 24, 2012

I've tried updating my drivers "the proper way" by uninstalling my current Catalyst drivers (12.6) and updating to the Beta 12.7 version. Everything goes fine, the driver uninstalls and the other one sits perfectly aswell. Except that in every game i try, the user interfaces sometimes get distortioned and many graphical elements simply dissapear. I've uninstalled the driver, checked it in safe mode through driver sweeper (latest version) and i've noticed that a lot of files never gotdeleted http://imageshack.us/f/337/74813437.png/ I press analyze and clean - after reboot all the files are at their places. I've tried manualy deleting them through regedt32 (regedit aswell) and i'm getting an error "Cannot delete %%%% Error deleting the folder"

Built In Mouse Conflicts With External Mouse

Sep 18, 2011

I probably spilled some coffee on the keyboard and now I can not inactivate the mouse pad in favor of the external mouse. The only way I can eliminate the conflict is to uninstall the mouse pad. That works fine but every time I reboot for something I have to uninstall it again. As you know rebooting is common and therefore I have to reboot twice for every time I have to reboot. Anyone with a solution to this problem? This is a HP laptop. The mouse automatically installs everytime I have to reboot. I do not shut down normaly.

Back Up With Windows 7 X 64

Jul 1, 2011

I have read pitting imaging against registry backup which are clouding my choice.

1-Erunt requires that you turn UAC off for ERUNT and not to use it automatically. ERUNT has not been updated since 2005.
2-System restore and Norton = must Norton turn tamper protection off to restore.
3-system restore = do not use safe mode(good back up) but you cannot restore afterwards.

I have 2 questions, assuming the above is true;

1= does registry backup cause more trouble than imaging.
2-Acronis and Macrium are good but is Win 7 back up restore as reliable with 64 bit? It is limited but I am concerned about the reliability as oppsed to the other two.

How To Get File's Back On HDD

Oct 1, 2011

I have HDD Hitachi 80 gb. before, I intend to re-install the hard drive with windows xp, after page division of the partition appears, I see a dynamic drive with a capacity 765XX Mb with a drive letter listed like this (- so i delete the partition and then I create a partition 30 GB for C: and rest for D: then after installed, my friend told me that in fact there are a lot of data in it that 75% is owned data.

how could I? I still can restore its data with the abstractions of folders and files as before? I've tried Active @ Partition Recovery from boot disk. None outcome. found multiple partitions ... but I can not recover

I try not to lift the partition. then I use File Recovery again ... I just found a Folder is missing the rest are listed! LOST & FOUND! with millions of folders and each folder in it only consists of 2 3 or 1 files uncovered.

How To Get Back Password

Jan 7, 2013

I followed an online tutorial to hide my admin account by changing my registry so my mom couldn't get in. I kept myself out also. I tried doing a lot of stuff to retrieve it, but nothing would work because the only account I have left is a guest account, therefore, no admin permissions. One thing I think I can still do, though, is a system restoration point, but somehow, my previous restoration point was deleted. What if, and I'm going out on a limb here, I saved a restoration point off of my friends computer onto a flashdrive and used that for my computer? We have the exact same OS (Windows 7 Premium 64bit). I plan on doing that, then doing a complete system restore back to the factory settings.

No Need To Back Up Files

I was working on my files when suddenly all icons turned into Adobe Reader icons. The suggestion was to uninstall Adobe Reader (I did), save Windows 7, then fix the registry, etc. or try to reinstall Adobe Reader. After three tries using a different browser and the icons reappearing all over the desktop, blocking all other items, I decided to follow Cnet suggestion to install FOXIT 5.0 Reader. I did and I can read all my files perfectly.I was afraid to mess up Windows 7, the Registry and who knows what else.
