View 4 Replies View RelatedI installed Ubuntu on my computer a few months ago and created another partition for it on my 1TB hard drive. I didn't really care for Ubuntu so I decided to delete the partition it was on. That might have been a mistake. Well, now there's 87.68GB of free space on my hard disk that I can't use and I don't know how to add it back to my c: partition.
There was another post about this a couple years ago, but I don't understand the instructions and am not actually sure if it worked. Can someone explain how to do this, please? I'm not completely computer illiterate, but I'm not familiar with partitioning disks. It was just the one time with Ubuntu.

im having this prob where a total of 40GB of space out of 160Gb in my HD cant be formatted. I were using Windows Vista before upgrading it into Win 7....
I had 3 partitions ( c:, d:, & N... All 3 of it works perfectly. The only problem im facing here is with this 40GB of free space which i couldn't Format in anyway.. it keeps on bugging me with this warning of "not enough space to complete operation" thingy...
Here is an image of it, where the green colored free space (39.06Gb)... cant be formatted.
I tried Formatting it while the Windows 7 installation process, yet, i still couldn't do anything.
in my lenevo laptop I had 4 drives, but Partition disappeared while in use... now shows as free space? How to recover my data...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI read up a bit on this on other threads but none of them are exactly specific to my issue.I need to expand my C partition by utilizing the free unallocated space on disk D (a separate disk) that I just made by deleting the only partition on there.I guess this is not possible through windows disk management tools but I didn't want to start downloading any 3rd party software for this before I got some guidance from here. lease take a look at the following screen and let me know if using the 238.38GB of unused (unallocated space) I can extend the C partition without having to delete that partition, having to backup the files on it or making images. I already backed up everything I had on the D partition and then went ahead and deleted it through the computer management tool.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 1TB hard drive partitions into a C drive and D drive. The operating system is Windows 7 64 bit. The C drive is my every day stuff, and I use D to store media, music, video etc. Today I wanted to access the D drive and it was not there. The C drive is listed as usual. I went to Disk Management and the missing D drive was not there as well. I don't know if this explains things, but I ran a partition analysis program and it showed 500 gigs as unallocated. But that space is also not noted in disk management. Right now I am running partition recovery software to see if the files are somewhere, but it will take a few hours.

When I first built my computer (about 8 months ago), I easily had 40 gigs free.I haven't installed anything of significant size since, but my drive is slowly becoming full and I don't know why! Now I'm at the point where it's almost completely full.

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy mom got her laptop from Best Buy, and it came with Geek Squad optimization. They made it so the C: drive is around 58GB, and the D: is the other GBs which add up to 500GB. She is practically out of room on her C: and the computer is almost unusable. I already deleted the D: partition, but the partition manager in Windows 7 won't let me extend the partition to fill up all of the space. The option to extend it is just grayed out.
View 2 Replies View RelatedLast night I noticed it had turned the bar to red, and said I had only 12 GB left of 135 GB. Im not into video, music, games or anything else I know of that would use that much space. I surf the web, and keep some scanned and some text documents. A few months ago I carefully installed Windows 7, instead of Vista which my PC came with. No problems. I just now deleted the old Windows stuff, and that freed up 47 GB, so thats good. I suspect that my hard drive was partitioned during that installation of Windows 7, and I dont know that that is necessary. Can that be undone?

Something on my hard drive is eating up the space even though I un-install applications and then it shows lots of space, but in a few moments that space is gone.
I have run Malwarebytes and deleted a lot of my files that is suspected of Virus/Spyware, yet the same thing happens repeatedly.
What software can I use to ensure I get rid of this 'thing' that is eating away or growing on my hard disk?
My hard disk space is decreasing rapidly, about 150mb/sec. When I restart my PC it resets back to normal and starts decreasing again. Once it reaches zero, I can work any programs and browse the internet. It will happen in about 10-15 minutes again, maybe less. What do I do?
View 17 Replies View Relatedrecently i made a few videos with fraps that took up around 110 gigs of space, so i decided to compress all that and upload to Internet, the amount of space the videos are taking up are now down to 70, but my free disk space hasn't increased, in fact it's decreasing as if i never deleted the videos, it isn't decreasing on it's own only if i make files, so basically it'll take up space and it just stays that way for some reason.i've looked around the internet for a solution, i have tried:disabling automatic backup, that didn't do anything. scanned my computer with malwarebytes to make sure it isn't some worm, nothing found. used disk cleanup, cleared up 900 mb but the free space still didn't change. used ccleaner, cleared up 500 mb but the free space still didn't change. used disk check, nothing bad was found. used windirstat, everything seems fine as it should be, but theres 100 gigs of <unknown>, and i have no freaking clue what it is. used spacesniffer, found absolutely nothing that would take up that much space,i would use defraggler, but it will take way too long so i'd use it when i have no other option, there's gotta be another way other than literally waiting over a day for defraggler to finish, and chances are that it wouldn't change anything as well meaning i would have wasted a bunch of time,
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just installed 7 today. I kind of figured it would be like reformatting xp where it just wipes the hard drive clean and you start from scratch. All of my folders are empty but my HD only has 20G of free space i don't know whats taking it all up?
I was counting on having an almost empty HD when it was all installed. Sorry if this is a re-post.
I had installed ubuntu 10.10 on my lap Dell N5010 model recently, After few days i got blue screen error message then i decided to format my hard disk, with a windows 7 ultimate version which i got through internet. then i thought to format the system completely so while installing i went to advanced disk options and deleted all drives when i did this the drive which has name primary is detected after installation. the drivers which are under category of logical are not getting displayed in my computer and also in partition manager it is showing as unusable space.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis just popped up today and the only thing I can think that I had done since not seeing it was activated AHCI. As can be seen in the attached snip there is a very small partition to the left of the "SSD Common" logical partition. It is bounded by the same green box as the "SSD Common" partition. Hovering over it provides details of it being Free Space 1Mb in size. Right clicking on it provides a menu with everything greyed out except for HELP which simply opens the Disk Management user guide. Should add that both the "SSD General" & "SSD Trade" are Windows 7 bootable partitions with AHCI activated.
