Event Viewer Warnings?

Aug 14, 2010

Using Event Viewer/Applications I was getting 5 error events each day. This had to do with a "search" for a file on an external HD. I have just formated the HD and now I get "Warnings" about the the same files. The HD is now blank.

Every 7 minutes this error is logged in event viewer.

I have wired connection disabled, wireless connection works fine. It actually works much better than it did with XP Pro. Lan transfers are much faster.

What's causing this and how to stop it?

Windows 7 CD Burner - UDF Format / Bad Block Errors In Event Viewer

Aug 17, 2010

I'm having a problem with the Windows 7 CD burner when trying to burn a data CD-R or CD-RW in Mastered (CDFS) format (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit). Whenever I use a new or blank disc and then select the Mastered option, when I re-insert the CD after burning it says it's in UDF format. What is more, I then have problems trying to open or copy files from the CD - files won't open.

Bad block errors in the event viewer etc. These errors are seen when trying to use the CD on any computer, including the one it was recorded on, and I've tried several different makes, types and speeds of disc. I can record in CDFS format using the Windows 7 CD burner if the CD already contains files which were recorded in that format using a 3rd party application or another computer.

This is happening on two Windows 7 computers. I have considered using the Live File format (UDF) instead, but when using Windows 7's burner to format the disc it reduces its capacity by about 130MB and the data won't fit any more. I know I can use other CD burning software (and already do), but there are occasions when the Windows burner is the simplest option, so I'd like to get it to work properly.

System Randomly Reboots Due To Kernel Power Errors In Event Viewer

May 6, 2012

As of recently, I just upgraded my system to the following configuration:

Intel i5 2500K 1155 socket CPU
Gigabyte Z68A-D3H-B3 revision 1.3 mobo
8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600 RAM
(2) 60GB OCZ Solid 3 SSDs (One for each partition that I'm running on my system)
2TB Western Digital SATA HDD
nVidia GeForce GT430 2GB DDR3 graphics card
Rosewill RD 500-2SB 500 Watt PSU
Rosewill Challenger Mid-Size ATX case

Prior to installing the software, I had tested the memory, CPU, HDDs, everything. All checked out OK. My system hosts two SSDs to run two partitions: One is Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, the other being Windows XP Professional 32-bit. The additional 2TB HDD is basically to store the tons of data that I have on, and I use the Windows 7 My Documents folders to have everything map to the HDD to acquire my data, download to it, etc.

The issue that I seem to be running into, is that every time I load up the Windows 7 partition, no matter how long I leave everything running, if per say I was to leave it running overnight, when I wake up in the morning, it will show that the PC has rebooted. Upon checking the event viewer, I am seeing multiple entries specifying that the error was caused by a kernel-power error, listed as event 41. Reviewing this info, I later noticed that it was causing a bugcheckcode of 265 everytime the issue occurs.

Ideally, I would like to think that it was hardware related, or driver related, as it mostly occurs when I play movies or videos, but when I boot the Windows XP partition, I never come across any of these issues whatsoever. Granted, the XP partition is used primarily for work when I do remote stuff from home, but granted I want to watch a movie on it I can also. Also, when loading the eventvwr on the XP partition, no kernel-power entries are listed. So clearly, this is occuring on the Windows 7 partition, and not the Windows XP partition. Since I dont really think this is due to hardware issues.

WHEA-Logger Event 18/19 Errors In Event Viewer (Windows 7 Home Premium)?

Jan 24, 2012

Basically my laptop has been having very high temperatures for a long time (usually ~60C for CPU and often 100-110 for GPU...insanely high, in other words) For example, see how hot the machine gets just by resuming from a sleep (this is all within a minute or so):I have been seeing the following error in event viewer each time I start Windows (4 entries) for some time:So today I bit the bullet and had the back cover off the laptop and noticed what a bad state the thermal compound was in, for both the CPU and the chipset chip, so wiped it off using TIM Cleaner, and then applied new thermal compound and put the laptop back together. I was actually shocked because for the first time since I can remember, I could feel cold air blowing from the vents of my laptop! I logged into Windows and noticed that my temperatures had fallen and were staying at around the below:Not as low as I'd like but a massive improvement. Trouble is, I am still getting the WHEA-Logger event errors in Windows Event Viewer ('processor core') and wondered if this was not in regards to overheating after all?The plus side is my laptop is now almost totally silent - the way it must have been when I bought it new 3 years ago! But I was wondering how to investigate these WHEA-Logger errors?PS - I think I accidentally got some TIM Cleaner spilt on the carpet. Might be nothing to worry about, but I did notice the "Harmful" hazard symbol on the bottle?

Unwanted Warnings At Startup

Jul 1, 2012

I am currently having a problems with my Windows 7 Operating System. I am baffled by the sheer number of warnings within Windows Explorer, the PC I am using is an entry level workstation, most of the parts are fairly recent, it has been a year I had purchased this machine. Upon starting up the windows, I get this dwm.exe Bad Image Error (Picture Attached in the Bottom). It says: C:WindowsSystem32dxgi.dll error. I have searched over the net and they suggested me to restart pc in safe mode, but nothing happens after I do so.The same Error pops up when I open Photoshop CS5 and also when I try open/saving a file using Windows Directory System from any application. My OS is x64 so are a bunch of programs, like while opening Photoshop it will say; "C:Windowssystem32EhStorShell.dll is either not designed to run to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original media contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support." As soon as I click ok the program works fine, but facing this annoying popup box every time I fire up a program or windows is irritating.I want to know if there are any permanent solutions, I heard it's a fact that you have to format and reinstall your Windows almost every year, is that true? I have installed critical programs with addons, is there any way that I can avoid reinstalling my windows and not face these annoying dialogs?

Warnings Started Popping Up From AVG (my AV) / IQAGOA.EXE?

Apr 17, 2011

I'm just doing my usual thing today on my laptop and suddenly all these warnings started popping up from AVG (my AV) They keep asking me whether or not to let this EXE (see title) from having access to the internet. I let it but it still pops up. It's located in the Windows folder on the main hard-drive, but if I search "iqagoa.exe" in Google there's only TWO results, neither of which are related at all. What is it? Is it a virus? Can you see it in your Windows folder. If it makes any difference, it mainly popped up when I was using Photoshop. And yesterday I switched to MSE AV but then switched back to AVG as it was really slowing down my system...

Disable Cpu Fan But Mobo Keeps Giving Warnings?

Sep 13, 2011

I have a HTPC which includes an ASUS mobo/cpu combo (fanless, smart BIOS, etc). The case is mini ITX with a single case fan. As it is this machine runs really cool since I have no moving parts other than the storage HDD (OS is on SDD).What I ended up doing was move the case fan power plug to the "Chassis1" fan header on the mobo because the BIOS offers more tunability controls for chassis fans than it does the "CPU" fan header.Problem is now, I get popup alerts in my sys tray from the BIOS manager that CPU FAN IS DISABLED or NOT OPERATING.Is there a way I can jumper this power header out with a resistor or something to fake the mobo into thinking it's driving a fan?

New HD / Windows 7 X64 Install Freezes On Startup - No Events

Dec 3, 2011

The "Starting Windows" freezes seem to me to be entirely arbitrary. Here's my installation notes to date. The line where it says "SYSTEM RESTORE" is the point at which I restored the computer to after installing some software and having the "Starting Windows" issue recur. I check the Event Viewer with every boot. The only Error and Critical events are (generally) Power events when I am forced to reboot manually due to a "Starting Windows" freeze.

BSOD Happens Through Random Events - Error 0x1000009f

Aug 18, 2012

I had a lot of blue screens occurring in June-July, but that was fixed from removing my antivirus and replacing it with microsoft security essentials. Since 7/22 I've been getting blue screens randomly--sometimes when I turn the computer on from hibernation it will crash, or the wireless drivers will "disappear" and reappear after the computer crashes and restarts. They all seem to be caused by ntoskrnl.exe and are driver power state failures.

Freeze Ups And BSOD Events In Custom Built Computer

Dec 30, 2011

i have recently built a computer and i am experiencing frequent freeze-ups and bsod events with it. none of my previously built rigs have experienced this, and the most recent computer used several of the components currently in use, including the ssd, graphics card, case/ps, cpu cooler, and windows 7. [code] all of this has been assembled recently, though many of the components (listed above) have been in service for some time.nothing is overclocked.i have experienced more freeze ups than bsod. these have come at all different conditions, including web-browsing, watching video (both wm player and online Internet), downloading files while computer is unattended (i return and find computer unresponsive) and occasionally while gaming (mostly ms flight sim x). i have not determined a pattern.cooling is very good in the case, and the asrock board fan controllers maintain the cpu reported temp below 45c at idle and i have not seen the core temp above 60c in any situation other than a run of the program 'core damage'. i followed the directions for how to assemble a help thread for this forum, but i have not looked up any error codes yet (have not ever needed to with windows 7) so i will look into that in parallel.

Winamp, WMP Or Any Other Media Software Freezes At Random Events

Jun 5, 2012

Winamp or Windows Media Player or any other audio software freezes at random events. How the problem occurs: I will be playing audio through winamp just fine from first playback. The problem occurs after I decide I would like to STOP the song that is playing and open another application. After I've finished with that application and return back to winamp to hit PLAY the song won't playback. The song will simply sit there looking like it is about to play but no response. Please NOTE that this also occurs in Windows Media Player and i-Tunes.

Collect Action Center & Reliability Monitor Events From Windows 7 Clients?

Feb 9, 2012

Is it possible to use Server 2008 R2, a Windows 7 workstation, or some software to collect the events logged in the Action Center on our Windows 7 clients? Also, is it possible to collect the events logged in the Reliability Monitor (View reliability history) from our Windows 7 clients.I am interested in aggregating this information in a central location i.e. on a server/workstation, which our administrators have access to. Is this possible when using System Center Configuration Manager? A smaller scale solution would be preferred as we only have around 120 clients.

Wake Events: How To Discriminate Between "unattended" And Manual

Sep 19, 2012

I recently set up an HTPC for my mother to replace her rented DVR (Cable company charges $13/mo for the DVR but a CableCARD is just $2/mo). I have everything pretty much like she wants it, but there is one remaining issue. She has an LG TV and wants everything to come on with the MC remote so she can ditch the extra remote. The TV has an RS232 port that I have hooked to a serial port on the HTPC. I can use this to control power on the TV. It's relatively simple to use Intelliremote to send the "OFF" command to the TV when she pushes the power button on the remote to put the HTPC in sleep mode, but I want the TV to power on only when she wakes the HTPC up with the remote.

THE PROBLEM:The system event log can be used to trigger a task on wake that would power on the TV but it turns on even when the system is doing an unattended recording or some other scheduled task. (I don't want the TV coming on at 2AM when a backup starts, for example.) How can I exclude these unattended events so that the TV is only powered on when the HTPC is awakened with USBIR remote or keyboard?

Random Power Off / Power On / Reboot Events

May 2, 2012

Over the past 2 years my PC has been afflicted with random power off/power on/reboot events. It will go for months without these and then have multiples of the events in a day. (I had 8 of them 3 days ago.)I assume I have a hardware problem, but nothing has been found and I'm grasping at straws. The time between power off and power on is several seconds.I had assumed this rules out a software cause, but maybe I'm wrong. I know Windows can schedule a power off, but can it tell BIOS (or something) to power back on in a few seconds?I know blaming the power supply is a much more simple explanation, but then I'm left with explaining the intermittent nature of the failure.
