Error Code 0x80070424 With Windows Firewall And Windows Defender
Nov 30, 2011Recently I was trying to allow access to one of my programs in firewall, firewall says it needs to switch to default settings, so I click it, it shows "Windows Firewall can't change some of your settings. Error code 0x80070424. Ive looked for a long time trying to find a solution, and from what ive gathered, I have malware (that I might have got rid of) that might have deleted these (they do not exist in the services list), but I am not positive

Jun 21, 2012get that message constantly. have done just about everything and problem still there.have action center and it says security center service is off, don't have that on my control panel.

Dec 17, 2011My PC has been infected by some kind of virus that keeps coming back even after my anti virus has removed it(persistent). how to remove the virus and I ran into one of bleepingcomps tuts. It told me to run combofix, so I run it. And after I reboot the virus is gone. But then I checked my firewall and it showed the error.
My Av is MSE. OS is Win 7 Ultimate 32-bit

Jan 19, 2010In the last few months I have been getting error messages in my Yahoo mail account. It will not go to next email and returns an 'Error Code 5' or recently an 'Error Code 15'. It says "Sorry for the inconvenience. You have stumbled upon an unexpected, temporary problem." This happens every other email. What are these codes and why is this happening?

Dec 6, 2009Windows backup doesn't even seem to exist on my computer. trying to change settings yields this 0x80070424 error:

and going to "backup and restore" in control panel yields a blank screen:

The Windows backup service is not even listed in my service list.
I've tried the one fix circulating around here involving deleting the wbengine registry key and restoring it, to no avail.
My backup drive ran out of space a few weeks ago and I'd been ignoring it until now, before that it had been chugging along happily, not even missing a beat when I re imaged my boot drive over to a newer, faster one.

Jun 28, 2011i recently got a computer from my aunt, and decided to put windows 7 on it. Before I installed it, I put in a Geforce 8800 graphics card and a (2nd) cd rom drive. After 20 failed attempts to install windows 7 (it kept freezing at the completing installation part) it worked after i disconnected the new graphics card and one of the hard drives. Now, however, i keep on getting periodic blue screens with the following error messages : Memory Management, and PFN_List Corrupt. I ran a memory diagnostic and it said that the memory is fine. What is wrong with my computer? I also ran a system repair thing from the windows 7 disk, and it came up with this error: System File Integrity Check and Repair Error Code 0X490

Jun 17, 2012I having a popular problem 643 and I have tryied several sugestions but the problem still exist.The first of many updates that fail was on 6-10-2012 Framework4 KB2656351 plus 8 or 9 more with different numbers.I got this information by clicking on display updates, I do not know if that is the right way to get the code name for the updates or if there is other way. If there is other way to get this information please let me know, I am a work in progress.

Nov 18, 2012I was having some issues with my pc a few weeks back. Nobody could find a fix for my problem so I took the 11 hr route and restored it back to factory settings. Everything is good except I've got a yellow exclamation point over two devices under Devices & Printers. It's bugging me and even though my initial problem is fixed, I'd like everything tip top after I just put in all this work setting it back up. The error message located in properties is Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19). One is for my printer and I assume the other is for my modem?
