View 1 Replies View RelatedI had to re-install and update the 64 bit Windows7. Everything went beautifully including the install of Office 2010 and Quicken 2010 and the Apple drivers. The problem occurred when I tried to download financial information from web sites. There is nothing executable in the Windows Explorer or Downloads folder after I click download.
This happened within Quicken and also trying to download Adobe PDF. I thought the error was due to the financial statement requiring Adobe PDF but when I download that it also disappears.
I have Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit OEM (with free Windows 7 upgrade). I want to reformat the computer. After installing Vista, do I need to download Vista updates, before installing Windows 7? Or just immediately install Windows 7 after Vista? Also, how often do you do a fresh install (reformat)?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI purchased the 3-user pack, and accidentally installed the 32 bit version when I wanted the 64 bit. What is the easiest way to install the 64 bit. I tried to insert the disk and restart, but it is telling me that the software is incompatible.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently purchased a Samsung 840 SSD, and a new copy of windows 7. I currently have windows 32 bit installed on my PC, but then new copy I bought is a 64 bit version.
If anyone could run me through the installation process of the new version of windows that would be great. I want to get rid of the OS I am running currently but keep all the files on my HDD, this meaning I want my SSD to be my C: with my OS and a few applications on it.
I will have a brand new SSD on Tuesday and want to have my OS on it. The plan is to install it, install Win 7 on it and then my old hard drive that has the OS on it will still be usable and will not cause any issues, since if I boot from the SSD then the old OS on the HDD would not be a problem.
Will this work and what will happen to all of the apps I have on the hard drive?
So I built a new PC (first time builder) and surprisingly there were no issues installing any of the hardware components, and everything has been going well so far.... until it was time to install the windows 7 OS. The installation approached 99% and then it asked for the product activation key and it did not work. After researching the issue online, I found that I was using a windows 7 'upgrade' disk rather than an actual full license for Windows 7. Luckily, I had only paid $10 for the disk at my school as part of a student discount. So now I have the 99% complete install present on the computer and when I boot up the system it brings me straight to where I need to enter in the product key, which is always not going to work. This morning I purchased the Window 7 home premium edition OEM 64 bit for $99 on newegg, (I realize that it is tied to the unique mobo in my computer). My question is that can I format my SSD now to remove all the previous installation windows 7 upgrade junk before I install the OEM version, or will it bring me straight back to the screen where I need to enter the product key again for the upgrade version? Will the copy that I ordered recognize that it is a different version of Windows 7 and prompt me to format my ssd before the install?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI would like to ask for forum members diagnosis before I go spend hours working on the laptop for hours. The security software on the laptop will not work because Windows 7 SP1 has not been installed on the laptop. I can't seem to download SP1 from Microsoft. The local office of Geek Squad diagnosed the problem being that there is a problem with Windows 7 and it will need to be re-installed. I would like to see if forum members agree or have a different diagnosis. Its going to take me quite a while to re-install windows 7 and I would like to get a second opinion before I devote that sort of time.

I currently have XP installed on my HDD at home and I was wondering if it were possible to install 7 on the new hard drive I buy and still have access to the files and programs on the other drive? Will the other programs be able to run from another hard drive or will they NEED to be installed on the new one?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have some updated software that requires .net Framework 4 to run.I use this on an older laptop that I have not ever used on line. By never going on line, I think this is the greatest virus protection ever. Anyway, to install the Framework 4 from Microsoft, one of the requirements is to be on line, which I do not want to do. Is there any way to install this Microsoft software without hooking up on line?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have formatted and copied windows 7 to my 4GB USB key and I have installed a new HDD into my Dell Optiplex 745. When I boot up the computer I am notified with:PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cablePXE-M0F: Existing Broadcom PXE ROMI have searched and found out that this can be caused by a bad hdd but this can't be the case seeing that I literally opened it new from it's packaging and instantly installed it. Also I heard that in order to install via USB you need to place USB to #1 in boot sequence. I have tried this but when I do this all I get is a screen with a flashing underscore at the top of the screen and I can't do anything. So I changed my boot sequence back to the way it was:1. Onboard or USB Floppy Drive (not present)2. Onboard or USB CD-ROM Drive3. Onboard SATA Hard Drive4. Onboard Network Controller5. USB DeviceI have no backup disk and I have no access to a Windows 7 DVD, all I have is it on USB.
