It used to happen that when I wanted to send an email all I had to do was type in the first letter of the email address in the 'TO' box and a list would come up with all emails that started with that letter. So i could just click the one I wanted and it would autimatically fill the box of with the email address that I wanted to send. Now suddenly it doesn't do that anymore.
I want to disable some of the USB ports in my W7U-64bit Ultimate system.Normally I do this by viewing in HWINFO64.The after in DeviceManager to uninstall the wanted USB ports. But now I cannot see the adresses in HWINFO64 nor in DM.
I would like to block a certain IP address from having any connection to my network, and I don't recall how IPSec works, or if it even works in Windows 7. In class, we learned it on XP. how to prevent this IP from contacting me ever again?
I am trying to run a batch file (arpping.bat) that will get all of the IP's and mac addresses on the network. Here is the batch file: REM arpping.bat ping -n 1 -l 1 %1.%2 arp -a %1.%2
I run the following command from the command line: C:\> for /l %i in (1,1,254) do arpping 160.82.220 %i
I the receive the following, repeating, output line at the command line: "The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process." This keeps repeating until I hit Ctrl C. Not sure where the problem is.
If I place a single 4GB stick in my machine and run memtest, I see it's testing only 3.7GB. I assume this is the PCI memory map taking 0.3GB. Does this mean I'm not actually testing all the memory or am I missing something?
How would I go about assigning different ip addresses (static) to different programs? Ill give you an example of what I mean. There is a Popular game called Minecraft (I don't know if you have heard it before, but It might help if you do know about this game) but I am planing on hosting multiple minecraft servers on one server (machine). So how do I get more static ip addresses (on one machine) so I can host more than one server on one machine?
since minecraft uses the port : 25565 would I be able to host a website on the same static ip address as a minecraft server since websites use different ports?
My previous laptop ran XP. I backed up my outlook .pst file to an external hard drive. My new laptop runs Win7. After installing Outlook I imported the .pst file. At first everything seemed perfect but then I started realizing that the master category list is not there. Also, the address book had none of my addresses associated with the entries. Only new ones appeared and then not in their proper categories. What can I do to remedy this situation? I feel the categories and addresses must be somewhere in my computer because when I open a contact, I can click on the email icon and send mail.
Is there an option to export the address book and messages from Thunderbird ? I just cannot seem to find the export option.
Also, if I do manage to export the messages from a 32bit version of Thunderbird, will a 64bit version of Thunderbird be able to import them ?
I am trying to piggy back my address book and messages from Outlook Express on my old WinXP PC to Thunderbird 64bit on my new Windows7 PC. I have imported the address book and messages from Outlook Express on my old PC into a 32 bit version of Thunderbird on the old PC but cannot get any further.
I noticed that my WLM categories were somehow corrupted and missing some names. When I click the category on the left, in the list of names on the right they are all there. However when clicking edit I notice some addresses are missing. They are also missing when attempting to send mail. When I add the missing addresses and click save they are not actually saved. I tried deleting the category and making a new one and that seemed to work for a while but the next time I logged onto WLM the same names were missing again.
I'm trying to print out a christmas card list using mail merge in Word. I've entered the names and addresses and the list is fine but when I try to print the addresses on the envelopes, they don't align properly on the envelopes. I've tried different size envelopes from the list provided by Word but the only two that print properly are the size 6 3/4 and the size 9. Unfortunately, I cannot find christmas cards that size. I also tried the custom option on the envelope list to size an envelope but that doesn't work either.
On the menu, I've tried manually adjusting the position of the address block instead of using the auto choice but that doesn't work either. I use an H P C 4700 series printer and I am inserting the envelope properly (along the left side of the paper feed). I've also downloaded lotus symphony and open office in the hope that the printing would work in their wps but there was a file recognition problem. I have used Word 2002 and the Microsoft Word Starter 2010 and my printer works fine.
My ISP is Time Warner, and I have been very satisfied with their broadband service in the 7 or so years that I have been with them. Lately, however, I decided to subscribe to their 'Turbo Plus' product, which guarantees 20 Mbps download and 2 Mbps upload speeds, or 20 x 2. I wanted this for a better gaming experience, and the faster downloading of large files, such as video files. With installing the new 20 x 2 service, Time Warner installed a new Motorola Surfboard SBG6580 Wireless N Broadband Modem / Router. However, since the new device was put in, I have been getting 'DNS errors' on my PC and other devices, such as "Error - Server not found in DNS".
I never received these with the previous device or service, so I believe that they are related to the new device's settings. I was advised by a tech person that I know to subscribe to the OpenDNS service, and then 'simply' change the DNS IP addresses in the router. Unfortunately, I cannot find a place to set these in the router. There is, however, a place for Dynamic DNS, which uses [URL] I am able to change the DNS IP addresses in my Windows 7 network and sharing center, but this does not help my iPhone, PSP, or other devices on my network. Also, from the OpenDNS site, I read that it is 'better' to make the change in the whole network (router), rather than on each individual device.
Is it better to have the proper DNS addresses in the hardware versus the software on each device? Is there a way to change the DNS addresses in the Motorola SBG6580 that maybe I am just overlooking? Should I purchase new networking equipment, and if so, what brand do you recommend? [I have been somewhat satisfied with the Cisco Valet line, but they seem to only want to help me with that line, and not with helping me solve the overall (new) problem, which I thought would be an opportunity for them to sell new equipment. They told me that what I could get from them, the WCG-200, was available from Time Warner, and that I could then just 'cascade' my Cisco Valet (wireless N) router from that device.] If it gets me a better result in the end run, then I am willing to purchase new equipment. However, I am also on a 'fixed' income, so I can't afford to make purchases that are not necessary, either.
I have bought a new computer with Windows 7 preinstalled. Before setting it up I backed up all my outstanding emails (204 .dbx files) and email addresses (one .wab file size 176kb) from my old computer on to a memory stick. I now want to import them into Windows Live Mail. I have gone through the recommended procedure for the emails, but only some of them have come across. I have been totally unable to import the addresses. The only procedures I have found seem to relate to a different version of Live Mail because they tell me to click on things that don't appear on my screen! It occurs to me that maybe not all the messages are being imported because I haven't imported the relevant contact details. Could this be the case? By the way I can't go back to the old computer as it has completely died, which is why I replaced it.
I purchased Windows 7 pro and I have a license that lets me install it on three different computers. 2 of the computers are not longer running and I need to reinstall it on two of my new computers. I need to reset the key to enable that but I am not sure who to talk to to make that happen or what number to call.
I am using Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail for my emails. Whenever I run the deep clean option of my Advaced System Care program, it erases my contact list and I have to go back and re-enter the contacts. I would like to copy the file of Contacts elsewhere first so I would be able to copy it back after doing the Deep Care, but cannot find where it is stored. Kinda like the old .wab file I used to have.
Installed system 7 over windows XP. Before starting I saved mostly everything (MS Outlook) but not my contact list. Is the contact list still on my hard drive since I did not format it? Could it be embedded in some saved file by the installation program?
I have just got new laptop, Acer Aspire 3-571G using Windows 7 64 bit OS. Since updating Mozilla firefox the contacts list and the calendar etc. have moved from the left hand side of my mailing page and been added to my inbox column.
I did a reinstall of my OS and neglected to copy my WLM contacts list. I have not as of yet deleted the Windows.old folder. Is it possible to find the contact list within that folder?
Just loaded Windows 7 pro and moved my contacts from OE to WLM. When I tried to send an email to a bunch of patients noticed that program did not only use the primary email address, but used all addresses of each patient. Is there a way of tell WLM to only use primary email addresses like OE does?Or it there a way to showing only primary addresses in the contact list that comes up when searching for a group of patients?
1. Computer, at start up, sometimes can't find my monitor. Only way is to start the computer with the monitor switched off; then turn the monitor on at a certain time during the booting process (when I here a motherboard-beep). Occasionally the connection will be broken anyway (and I'll have to mess with the 'reset/-start button). I generally get to the motherboard page and BIOS settings. But sometimes not even that and then the only solution is to leave everything off for a while (minimum a couple of minuts – but not exactly sure).
2. Computer lose monitor when it to goes into sleep mode. This only happens if I leave it inactive for a long enough time. I can usually retrieve it if the display's gone out only for a short while, as usual - by pressing keyboard or moving mouse.
My hope is to find a solution that doesn't involve buying a new monitor.
