View 2 RepliesI made a slideshow with music of a trip my wife made to Italy and my when I inserted a DVD the computer only recognizes the disc as a CD with 700mb instead of 4.2 gbs. I used drive E. I tried Drive F and I keep getting that the disc is a CD of Sinatra, which I played last week.

I never even disconnected it and it stopped working. I tried reinstalling the drivers and I reconnected it a bunch of times, but it still gives me the same error.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy computer did not recognize my USB device I use almost daily -- my printer. Tried all 3 USB ports in my netbook to no avail.
That was 2 days ago. Yesterday I plugged it in and all was fine.
Just now I tried to print but, again, that annoying icon was in my sys tray, saying USB device not recognized.
I shut down each night. Nothing has been installed or removed in a week.
I'm having trouble getting my computer to recognize mp3 players. I was using a Sony, it broke, I bought an ipod and it wasn't recognized by my computer at all when I plugged it in, but because my phone and camera both work in the USB ports I thought it was the ipod and returned it. Now I've got a Creative Labs Zen and having the same problem. It's brand new, I plugged it in and it says the device driver software failed to install. When i try plugging it again, it doesn't even attempt to install.'ve tried all of the USB ports, updating the drivers, and clearing "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" from the USB root hubs but nothing seems to workThe USB ports work with other devices so I'm guessing it can't be a problem with that. Also, it makes a sounds when i disconnect/connect the player so the computer has got to be recognizing it to some degree somewhere
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn the process of trying to create a dual booting system, all I have managed to do is create one big mess. I cannot boot up my machine. The only way I can boot up is by using Paragon Recovery Media. I put in the Paragon disk and it ask me what I want it do? I select find OS'es on my computer. In another window it shows Win 7. I click on that and my machine boots right up. This is the only way to boot my computer. I have tried re-installing the OS. I can't do a 'clean' install because my machine won't boot up. I have tried everything I know, I am totally stumped. I ran CHKDSK, no problems there.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I play a commercial DVD, a movie for instance, the E drive shows no disk inserted. However, a CD plays with no problem. This was not always the case, but has been since I installed Windows 7 Home Premium
I apologize now for anything lacking in description. I am a computer user is the same way I am a TV or telephone user. I have some knowledge gleaned from prior corrective efforts like this but by no means am I well versed in the technology. I can follow/have followed directions resulting in successful corrective measures taken.
I have already done the registry check for high and low filters (they aren't shown so cannot delete).
I reinstalled Windows 7 initializing all the hard drives to fix the constant crashes, and it seems to have worked. The bad news is that the computer does not seem to recognize one of my CD drive. By that I mean, if you click on computer it will show one of my CD drives under devices and removable storage, but not the other CD drive.
If I put a CD in, the drive will spin up but nothing happens. I tried to reinstall the drivers for the one CD drive but that was no help. How do I get the computer to see this other CD drive?
I'm running Window 7. Should I re-install Windows 7 again?
My computer will not recognize my CD ROM drive (the D drive). For example: when I put a disc into the CD drive, the mouse pointer briefly changes to a CD icon (as it normally does) to tell me -- presumably -- that the drive is scanning the disc for its Table Of Contents. However, the CD icon only appears for a split second (when normally it would take a few seconds to read the contents). When I double-click on the D drive to run the CD, it prompts me to 'Please insert disc into Drive D', when in fact there is already a disc in the drive. Can you tell me why this might be happening?

The current CPU was used by my dad before me and worked perfectly. It runs on Windows 7. However, since unplugging the tower and moving it back to my room, it no longer recognizes any of my CD/DVD drives. They are both functioning, turning on and opening and closing, but they are not listed under COMPUTER. I have tried several fixes on this site including merging my registry with a file on Notepad and running a program called cdgone but it still doesn't work. When my computer boots up I go to a screen with F2 that allows me to view my system. The drivers are listed as off but when I switch them over the computer will not let me. [code]
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy new Windows 7 computer will not recognize my Sansa e280 player. The player is recognized on my old Vista machine and on my Dell XP laptop, so I know the settings on the player are correct.
Windows Media Player 12 is also installed and functions correctly. It will play MP3's, DVD's, etc.
If I go to Control Panel > System > Device Manager and look in the "Portable Players" section, I see a yellow triangle next to "MTP USB Device".
When I right click on that item I get 4 choices:
1. Update driver software
2. Disable
3. Uninstall
4. Scan for hardware changes
I chose "Update..." Then I got a choice to have Windows search for the driver or select a specified place for it to look. When I clicked on the automatic choice it searched and came back with "Driver up to date "MTP USB" Device." I then went back and did the second choice designating "C:WindowsSystem32drivers" and got exactly the same result: "Driver up to date "MTP USB" Device."
Also, every time I plug the Sansa into the USB port, Windows 7 gives a message in the tray (bottom left) indicating it is installing the drivers, but in the end it throws up and gives me a message saying that the drivers were not successfully installed.
And, Sansa is not recognized as a drive with a drive letter in Windows Explorer. How can I get Rhapsody to recognize my Sansa on this new Windows 7 machine?
i have the evaluation copy of windows 7, so when it expired i bought windows 7. i want to install it, but my dvd drive does not "see" a disc. my driver is MagicISO and the device manager says it's working and updated.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having some trouble getting an external hard drive to be recognized by my computer. I have quite a few already, but I got another one because one of them won't read on my comp, although it will read on my netbook. The new drive I got has the same issue, no go on the comp, but works fine on the netbook.
I tried unplugging all of the other drives and even using the other cables to connect the new drive, but Windows 7 simply won't recognize it being plugged in. No "badump" sound and no icon in My Computer. Tried restarting, nothing. I tried it in all six of my computer's USB ports, but got no better result.
So I went on a three day trip. When I got home, I turned on my computer. The cooling unit made an unusual noise, and all of a sudden the monitor turned off, as well as the computer. Now, whenever I turn on the computer, it works perfectly fine (The cooling unit noise is gone also) but the monitor just goes to the ASUS boot logo and tells me VGA no signal. Even that only happens sometimes, it will mostly just remain in sleep mode. Things I have done:
- Tried with a different monitor
- Tried with DVI cable
I wish I could tell you my graphics card but I just don't remember.
I have an desktop Asus with windows 7 Home premium. System has been working fine untill this morning. the CD does not display when I slect (My Computer).
