i have the evaluation copy of windows 7, so when it expired i bought windows 7. i want to install it, but my dvd drive does not "see" a disc. my driver is MagicISO and the device manager says it's working and updated.

I made a slideshow with music of a trip my wife made to Italy and my when I inserted a DVD the computer only recognizes the disc as a CD with 700mb instead of 4.2 gbs. I used drive E. I tried Drive F and I keep getting that the disc is a CD of Sinatra, which I played last week.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows 7 Disc that I've used in the past, but I'm planning on building a new rig in about a month or two and I'm just planning a little bit. So my problem is that my computer doesn't seem to recognize my CD during the boot. It use to ask me press a button to boot from CD but no longer does and but I can run the CD after my computer has booted to my desktop so that means It can't be the CD nor the CD drive correct? I do have the boot order set for the CD-ROM first.

Now I would like to some how recover this computer to it's factory settings, to wipe all installed programs and files, but I would prefer not to be downgraded back to Vista. Is this possible?
I don't believe I made recovery discs while Vista was installed either. Is it possible to recover the computer at all?
Is there any way to use a windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade disc as a installation disc? Or would I have to go out and get another Windows installation disc and then use the upgrade disc?

Then use the Windows PE rescue CD to boot up and restore from external HDD. I have been researching this. I know about the lack of USB 3.0 support. But my drive is USB 2.0.

Whenever I insert a game disc, it will search for content and come up with autoplay options for pictures. For DVD movies it's normal but for games it is different.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Dell computer with HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GSA-H73N SCSI CdRom Device...never had a problem with it now all of a sudden it wont recognize a blank disc...it will play a dvd movie with no problem...I uninstalled and then reinstalled the drivers which did nothing...also uninstalled the drive completely which didnt help either

I have tried using different two different HDD both spin up but the installation doesn't see them. I have also switched out SATA Cables, used different power connectors, even tried loading drivers, and have reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS Battery.

I've tried installing a couple times now and I keep on getting an error saying that I'm missing a driver for the DVD drive.
Thing is, I'm installing Win 7 using the DVD drive.
So I've looked for a driver for my drive (Lite-On LH-20A1S) and all I get from the Lite-On site is Firmware. I've also tried the USB/DVD Download Tool to make a bootable USB stick but that program says my .iso isn't valid.
I have recently built my own desktop pc and installed windows 7 ultimate 32 bit with no problems at all. I now am trying to upgrade to 64 bit but windows will not recognize any of my drives to install windows files to.

The problem is.. recently I got a "new" computer, made out of old parts of other computers. SO i have no drivers CD.. So i have no SATA drivers...I tried to download about 30 so far with no luck. I booted my desktop with the laptop hdd. I then placed the WD HDD ( the one that i've been having trouble with) as a second hard drive. I noticed that windows recognized the WD HDD and could write to it. I also reformatted the WD HDD. I then tried to run the windows installation from my laptop hdd so i could install it on my WD HDD and once again it didn't recognize it. I thought maybe i could clone my laptop HDD to my WD HDD with Acronis "clone software" and it couldn't recognize the WD HDD as well. This is frustrating...... Why can i write to the WD HDD but cant install the OS.

and today after windows went crashing I've freshly installed windows7 64 bit enterprise but I cannot find my bitlocker drive it appears on the disk management as unallocated!
My mother asked me to fix her computer, his window XP is badly corrupted, so I tried to install Window 7 on her computer. However, the hard drive didn't show on the screen. I found it quite odd because BIOS detected it as IDE driver, and it's a SATA driver. I tried to install with old Window XP installation CD. Same thing, doesn't show on the window XP installation screen either.
I tried to hook hard drive on other computer, and was testing with Window 7 XD and see if it was working, and it did. It shown on the disk screen. My guess that it's probably the BIOS that occurred, or perhaps other things. I have one hard drive, nothing more.
I am trying to install windows 7 64 with a new M3A79-T. It keeps freezing at expanding files with error 0x80300001. View 7 Replies View RelatedI have just finished my first build and everything was going fine until I tried to install Windows 7. I got through the first couple menus, then when I get to the part where I have to save the OS in a storage device, it does not detect my hard drive.

Gigabyte Intel GA Z77X-U3H
Intel core i5 2500k
WD Caviar Black 1TB SATA 3 7200 rpm
Btw the HDD appears in the Bios.
We'll I've found others with similar issues, but none exactly like this. Have the HDD and SDD setup on RAID0 due to using IRST. 64Gb of the SDD is allocated as RAID0. When W7 prompts me to select the drive for W7 installation the only disk that appears is the 64Gb unallocated SDD sector.I've loaded the IRST 64bit drivers from the ASUS Mobo disk too. It recognizes the file I direct it to, but once loaded it still only recognizes the 64Gb unallocated SDD.

If you still do not understand what I mean, I'm confused on how will the OS, during installation, gather the information when there's no CD inside to read from?
My second question would be, which one of the versions (Home, Professional, Ultimate) is the best for GAMING? I have no need for security, but anything that would make my games, internet, etc run smoother would be of use.
I want to format my HD, but downloaded windows 7 because i'm impatient.. i know you can't do it without the disc, but is there anything to do about it?
View 8 Replies View RelatedIm attempting to upgrade from vista 32 to windows 7 on an hp compaq presario cq60 with and AMD athlon Dual Core @ 2.10ghz. When i place the windows disc into the dvd drive nothing much happens. It makes a few noises then nothing. It's an optiarc dvd rw drive which otherwise seems to be working fine. I've already used the 32 bit and 64 bit discs to upgrade on my two other machines so i know there isnt a problem with them. I have checked that the drive is first in line for booting the machine but to no avail.

Note: this would be in case my hard drive fails so that I can reinstall W-7 on a new hard drive. My first computer came with the disc (Win-ME). My second computer had a procedure where I was prompted to create/burn a disc of W-XP when I first started the computer. This time - nothing. I contacted Lenovo and they said I would have to pay $40 for such a disc!! Isn't there some way I can do this myself for free? Ever since, I've had to deal with slowness, lagginess and many errors. After trying to fix these things manually, such as updating, removing old files I don't need as well as programs, I had to eventually give in and do a system restore. And this is where my other problem begins. For one reason or another, the previous restore points I had are mysteriously gone. I only had one from around 2 days ago. All the ones I had from as far back as a month are history. Why I do not know. I usually check up on that to make sure I have one from way back. Perhaps I may have deleted them without knowing. So much to that.
I really want to do a complete reformatting or system installation. A clean one. However, my DVD drive doesn't recognize or acknowledges any of my OS discs. None of them. And they're all purchased from Microsoft. Not even the ones that came with my laptop are working. All other discs work. Such as DVD's as well as regular CD's. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a new sata3 SSD drive on which I want to install Windows 7. The PC has an existing build of Windows 7 on a different disc which i want to reformat & use for data. I tried this previously and ended up with a dual booting system. Trying to remove the old Windows 7 installation and format that disc created much trouble so now I'm starting again, how to: Install Windows 7 on the new SSD disc (I'm assuming this will work ok as I've done it before), Have the system recognise only the new Windows 7 installation at boot & not the old Windows 7 installation so I don't have to select which OS to use, Reformat the old Windows 7 disc and remove any boot references that it might hold.
