rather than in a new tab both in firefox and chrome even though i double checked all the settings in "options", on top of that, everything i type all become in caps regardless if the "caps lock" is on or off. I tried restarting the computer, it worked fine for a while, but before long, the issues all come back again
How do I get emails to single click to select and double click to open? All appropriate boxes in folder for this sequence are checked to no avail. Toshiba L745-S4310
WLM opens emails with a single click rather than just selecting the email. The boxes selecting double click to open are checked. This box is in the folders section and may be for folders ouyside of WLM. I want single click to select and double click to open emails.
When I have a couple of screens open on my desktop. When I click on an icon for, lets say, iTunes, I can see the iTunes window appear behind the translucent taskbar of Win 7. Ditto for MS World. How do i get programs that are already open to open up with ONE click, instead of having to closed down all the other windows.
I have Folder Options "Double-click to open an item (single-click to select)" is engaged but Start menu All Programs list is failing to accord - selecting on hover and opening on single click.
My wife has a new laptop with Win 7 Home Premium, which I know almost nothing about. When she double clicks a jpg, it opens in Windows Live Photo Gallery, which is apparently just a viewer. I wanted to open one in Irfanview, but when I right click the file, the choice to "Open With" is not available like it is in XP. Where is it?
my computer loads fine but once i open a window and i go to click on it, it goes into the background and i cant use then program. I can use the taskbar and my computer loads things, for a while it has been getting slower but i cant update my anti virus definitions to run it?
Like my title read, I can't open any folders in my Windows Explorer with a double click. It gives me the error message "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs control panel." This also happens whenever I try to open any drives, such as C: drive. I can however run programs from Windows Explorer, and can right click, then choose open to open folders.
I have already done extensive searching on the subject, tried deleting autorun.ini files, tried some registry fixes, with no luck. I'm obviously running Windows 7, 32-bit, on a HP desktop.
I searched all over the web including this forum and nothing, sfc /scannow didn't work. There has to be some registry key that is missing or i need to modify.
Ive been trying to uninstall a game in order to reinstall it. I looked for it in my computer and uninstalled it. i went back to desktop and everything i had had a notepad icon. Now everything i click opens its data in wordpad
This just happened a few hours ago. Scrolling still works fine but clicking (used to open the clicked link in new tab) doesn't work anymore. I've tried this in both Chrome and FF and tried a restart but nothing has worked.
I am using Windows 7 Home premium 64bit(genuine) on 2.30 dual core CPU with 3 GB. I reinstalled windows and a month after the reinstall, whenever I right click on only any file to open/cut/copy/rename/delete, it takes too much time, and many times the folder in which file exist goes unresponding. I am using AVAST (after using 60 day trial of Norton) and it is updated regularly.
I use a seperate SDD on which I play DCS World Games .Win7 is also on that disk as part of a dual boot but here it only serves to operate the games and ancilliaries. I have found that when clicking on 'Computer' in the Start Menu or the icon on Desktop ; there is no response and I cannot gain access to computer on on that disk.I have run various malware, anti virus programs but all seems clear I have formatted and reinstalled Win7 and the games from DCS. At first all was well but the problem has returned . I should have mentioned that last week the problen extended to 'Task Manager' ans 'Waste Basket' ; neither would open to a double click. The fact that the problem has returned makes me believe that a virus is high on the list of suspects but I cannot locate it[CODE]
I just installed Office 10 student version. After trouble shooting error 2203 and finally being able to successfully install this program, my IE9 is not working right. When I seach on Yahoo, say I open up microsoft window and want to click on Support and Help, a new tab opens with nothing in it. It will not load the link I am asking for in a new tab.
I have tried to put back the steps of trouble shooting the error 2203 that I had to change in order to install Office 10 Student version however the links still will not open in a new tab.
When I click on a file or folder to open it goes to recycle bin. I can restore but this is a nuisance. It also occurs when reading my email in yahoo mail.
when I try to open a program It happend when I was associating a blank icon, one like in the photo, with the game it used to be, which I had re-downloaded but the icon showed as if the game was no longer on the computer. When I done this, all of the icons on the screen and on the 'start' screen when you go into 'all programs' turned to the game icon. I then deleted the game and restarted the computer as 'last known good configuration' or something like that and after it took an unusually long time to start up (about seven minutes), all the icons showed up as in the ones shown on the screen shot above.
Have had new computer for a few months. Mouse worked fine until a few days ago. Will open some things by "double click" and some things I have to right click and open. I installed a new mouse and have same problems. Haven't changed anything or installed any new hardware or software recently.
I I just lost an important function. When I store important websites I'm working on, I just type the complete URL on the Wordpad page I'm working on. For, instance,[URL]Then when I click on the URL it will open up the website. Somehow, I just lost that capability. How do I get it back.
I can't make Windows explorer open MKV files with my default media player. I tried modifying KMPlayer's settings to associate MKV files with it, but had no effect. I tried:
- Right clicking a MKV file in an explorer window - Choosing "Open with > Select default program" from the context menu - In the opened "Open With" dialog box, browse to find kmplayer.exe, then select it - Click OK to return the dialog box - (At this step, I don't see kmplayer.exe is listed in the "Open With" dialog box) - Click OK to exit the "Open With" dialog box - To see that my media file is still opening with Windows Media Player
Why doesn't windows associate MKV files with my selected EXE file?
im not able open my computer right click manage . if i do that by regedit editor INK FILE BY DELETING is short cut registory . then my desktop item icon get with arrow mark.and if delete the IS SHORTCUT REGISTORY IN LNKFILE THEN IM NOT ABLE TO OPEN MY COMPUTER RIGHT CLICK MANAGE ICON.
I've decided to open programs on my desktop by single clicking, but when I hover over the icon, it underlines like a webpage. what I want to do is get rid of the underline when I hover over the desktop icons when I single click to open.
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-Bit. For other system specs I have added them to my profile.
When I open the start menu whether it be with the windows key or mouse click a right click menu pops up and appears to be right clicked inside the search bar, I tested this by copying some text and clicking paste on the auto right click menu.
It stays there until I click something but will come back within 1 second or until I stop holding the mouse button.
The .pdf and .rtf associations are set correctly to Adobe Reader and Wordpad but double-click or enter only responds by opening Windows Explorer. The right-click context menu lists "Open with Adobe Reader X" correctly and certainly works but is not how I'm used to working for the last however many years .pdf has been around.
I had hoped that if I could somehow get Adobe Reader into the Default Programs list and that that would help. However, Wordpad IS listed in my Default Programs and is set for .rtf and .docx but double-clicking .rtf does not respond by opening WordPad, only Windows Explorer.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT has Persistent Handler and ShellEx settings for .pdf but I don't know for sure if these are the relevant keys.
I'm also amazed (well, not really...) that MS apparently has no system for people to report bugs, only a system to take your money to (hopefully?)
After installing IE9 from windows updates , can't open a folder or a hard disk by double clicking . Googling the problem found that there is a change in Registry in HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/Microsft/Windows/CurrentVersion/explorer/MountPoints2 which probably affected by virus .The hard disk was full scanned four times by Ad-Aware , Spyware doctors , AVG and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and found nothing . I deleted the MountPoints2 in Registry but after restarting appeared again . As a solution of this problem I used the Restore point created by IE9 installation and return to IE8 and everything is Ok . The probable conclusion is that the virus must be installed in the new Registry created by the IE9 installation or is triggering by the IE9 installation since there is no problem with IE8 . By-passing windows updates and downloading IE9 from Microsoft Download center would be usefull?
I visit these forums alot, and ran a search just incase, yet was not able to find this anywhere. It's something I thought could be useful for some people You know how you can shift+right click on items in windows explorer to get added options? Well, the same command works on jump lists, except with some useful added functionality.I remember at least one forum member having mentioned that the reason they misses quicklaunch is that they could drag and drop files onto an app to open said files with said app. Well, although this doesn't completely cover that problem, as you have to use the keyboard, it sure does help.Lets say you have 10 images you want to edit in a program, but you dont feel like opening up the program and then searching for the files, because you already have the folder with the files open in explorer. Normally, if you right click on the item in a jumplist that represents the application itself, you only get a tiny context menu with 3 or four options. I was messing around and saw that if you hold shift while you right click, you will get a full host of options like one might when browsing in windows explorer. So if I want to edit those ten images in GIMP for example, I can select the images, right click and press copy, open the jumplist for GIMP, and hold down on shift while I right click on the GIMP program in the jumplist. Now the right click menu gives me the option to Paste, so I select paste, and voila, my 10 images open in GIMP.
