View 2 Replies View Relatedwe have Laptop's with windows 7 professional 64bit in domain. admin rights are restricted to the domain users. But many users most of the time use to travel out of station and need to change the IP that time. I tried adding domain user ID's in "network configuration operator" group but still not able to change IP from domain user without giving admin right. can any body tell me any other processes to change IP from domain user not having admin rights in windows 7 ?
View 7 Replies View Relatedi got a toshiba satellite p775d and for some reason, the bios won't allow me to change any settings. it isn't asking for a password or anything like that, it just won't let me navigate to the appropriate parts of the bios gui in order to adjust the configuration. i tried flashing with the toshiba support utility, it won't permit it since the bios is the same version apparently. the bios manufacturer website utility won't permit a flash either, it only reprograms the blocks. do i have to take it into a professional?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI downloaded the RC from the microsoft site. While attempting to install every is good and going well and I am doing an custom install which is supposed to be a clean install. I get really far in after expanding files and a couple reboots and while completing the installation near the end i receive the error:
Windows could not change the boot configuration. Windows installation cannot continue.
I have looked around for the answer and it requires you to go into registry and change some things. However I can no longer get back into the orginal OS because I choose to do a clean install rather than an upgrade. Cause I felt this would be the best option for me. I just bought a new hard drive hopeing it will fix the problem but I would rather not use it.
is there any way to fix this problem without a new harddrive? And is there a way to wipe the hard drive for a true clean install without being able to get into the OS? Thanks for any help

I was given a computer by my employers. It's an outdated model, and they were going to toss it, but my old one had recently broken, so they gave it to me. The problem is, it's still attached to their network, and I am blocked from getting admin rights on it. I've tried all of the standard ways to bypass this, DOS commands, the sticky keys trick, trying to enable the hidden admin account, ect, but they actually went through and blocked all of those as well. I don't have anything important on here, so if the only way is to wipe the computer, I can do that, but I can't find my Windows 7 disk. If there isn't a way to get admin rights on the system as is, is there a way to wipe the system, but retain the OS that doesn't involve downloading programs to do it for me
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo, my brother and his friend were dicks and messed w/ my computer. I set up a password on my computer for a purpose. So; my bro somehow got past my computer password (was secure pw) and then used my account to create another user accountHe made that one the main user admin and changed mine to standard. I changed mine back to admin, but I want to delete the account he created and have only my account back w/ all the power (main admin). I'm not able delete the main account he created and I dont want to delete mine because of all the settings on it

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe laptop is an Acer Aspire 5732Z, the specs are:
CPU - T4400
RAM - 3.00 GB
OS - Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, no SP1 yet
the hard drive is about 250gb, with most of that space free, and just 1 visible partition.
It has 2 problems
1) It takes a long time to boot up, it used to be excessively slow in windows but removing Norton 360 seems to have solved that part. I can time it if needed.
2) A lot of the programs on the system are blocked by windows security, causing the orange "These files can't be opened" error message to pop up.
These include gfxUI.exe (the UI for the onboard graphics), the installer for Crap Cleaner, the installer for Service Pack 1, the add new user window, and a load of other files I don't have a list of. There's only 1 account on the system, and it's an admin account. I've tried to use the run as admin option where possible.
Here's what I've done so far:
- Reinstalled intel graphics drivers, no effect
- Ran a startup repair, after an hour it hadn't loaded.
- Uninstalled norton 360, system speed improved by several hundred times, otherwise no effect, and bootup time still seems as long.
- Gone into windows firewall and reset all settings to default, no effect.
- Tried to change the settings in internet security, set everything low except for my computer, which is locked, no effect
- Gone into internet security and clicked set all zones to default, no effect
I tried to install SP1 (after failing several times before due to the system being too slow to install it), security blocked it, then apparently deleted the installer. I tried to make a new user account, to copy the registry settings for the security to overwrite the faulty settings on the main account, the new user account window was blocked by security.
In a cmd window run as admin, used command
secedit /configure /cfg %windir%infdefltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose
gave a progress report, completed, no effect.
I backed up important data, tried to reinstall windows from scratch, the installer doesn't load, after clicking install now it just starts loading and doesn't stop. At this point, I thought it must be a hardware issue, so I tried to run some diagnostics from a bootable CD. It wouldn't read the CD.

I was at my Math class and my roommate texted me telling me my computer started to freak out. The computer turned itself on and the fans went extremely loud and a clicking noise started. I have a Sager Clevo P150. So I get back to the room and my computer was off and everything seemed fine. I started it up and my sticky keys were not set. This happened before though, sethc.exe was not in the right spot. I fixed this before by putting it where it correctly goes and allowing full control to my admin account. I tried to do this again and it would not let me. I went to User account and found out my only account on this computer is set to Standard. Don't ask me how this is possible, so now I have no admin account on my own computer and I don't have full control over it. I tried bringing up the command prompt and manually activating an administrator account by doing: net user administrator /active:yes and my access is denied because I am not an admin account. I then booted my computer in safe mode and tried to access the admin account that way. Which there was an admin account but a password attached to it. The password is not what my password is and I did not set any other password because there was always only 1 user. So what the hell do I do?

We've tried rebooting and disabling the secondary, external monitor, as well as disconnecting that monitor. The Win + P hotkey also didn't seem to work.
