I have connected my laptop to a 40" LCD TV using HDMI cable and everything works fine. Since the desktop icons/fonts on the TV shows default (small) size from the laptop, in order for me to see it from the distance I have to change the desktop icons/fonts to a larger size.Here is my question; Is there a way to set up a different desktop icon/fonts size to match the TV and the laptop? (perhaps different profile settings???) Meaning, when I disconnect the HDMI cable from the TV, I want the size of the icons/fonts go back to default/small size icons and vice versa

When I power on my Dell 1545, it goes to the Windows Error Recovery screen. Choosing LAUNCH STARTUP REPAIR results in a screen that says Windows files are loading, then goes to a blank screen where it hangs. Choosing START WINDOWS NORMALLY results in the process hanging at the STARTING WINDOWS screen.

Attempting to boot the computer in Safe Mode results in the process hanging at \Windows\system32\DRIVERS\CLASSPNP.SYS

I was able to remove the SATA hard drive, hook it to my desktop and recover all my files. Attempt to boot from the Windows 7 Installation CD results in the process hanging at the STARTING WINDOWS screen.

Attempt to boot from the Windows 7 Installation CD with the hard drive removed results in the process hanging at the STARTING WINDOWS screen. I was able to boot Ubuntu from the CD and navigate through the computer.

I'm at a loss as to what to do next. I am able to access the BIOS setup, but can't make any changes because the touchpad will not move the pointer. A USB mouse will allow the pointer to move, but not when I'm in the BIOS setup.

Whenever I turn on my Dell laptop, it goes through the Dell, Microsoft...Etc. and it always shows a black screen and a little white dash in the upper left hand corner. If it ever does start to load, it always stops at 962 of sixty-seven thousand, five hundred and something and it starts flickering and stays there and does not move. I tried doing the Thing where the computer tries to fix the problem, but when it's done, it always tells me to turn off the computer and turn it on again and it always does the 962 thing.

I run a Dell M6500 laptop with Win7.When connecting to the internet it starts downloading "stuff', sometimes after 5 or 10 minutes, which I have no control over or find out where it is coming from. I have disabled auto update and my anti virus etc. If I go to explorer for internet history the files in doc and settings are locked. I have wiped the hard drive twice and started again from scratch, no luck.I tried to load Win XP but it will not load it, is that because it is a Dell? All my software is legal, and my anti virus is updated after notifying me it is doing so. When starting from fresh without any extra programs it does it also.

I know the wifi in the laptop works, i know the laptop has no issues.I know this because i switched my hard drive from my 1330 to this laptop which is also a 1330...connects and works fine.Wifi IS turned on
In device manager the driver is ok no exclamation marks anywhere When i try and connect with the ethernet i get identifying no network access, then it says currently connected to unidentified network, no network access! You cannot browse.So that being said it must be in the setting with windows 7.I uninstalled and reinstalled the wifi driver it did not make any difference.I also tried using a ethernet connection and it would not connect either.When i use the win 7 trubleshooter it states a network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken.Remeber this laptop functions fine with my hard drive in it with windows xp.
