Which Antivirus Software Is Best For Dell Laptop In Windows 7

I bought my computer last October a Dell latitude e5410 core i5 4gb mem. with only onboard graphics. also came with win7 and xp downgrade. unfortunately xp was installed. so I installed win7 myself and immediately installed norton NIS2011 then I connected to the Internet updated. installed drivers etc. from the very beginning I had problems with computer hanging. screen would simply freeze to no avail requiring restart. freezes seemed random could happen twice a day or not happen for a week.

I have the same problem on my HP laptop, suddenly all system freezes and I cannot do anything except hold shut down button. I have monitored my CPU performance on startup and it goes crazy when my avast anti-virus is updating almost about 70% of cpu usage.

Technical details: Celeron Dual-Core CPU T3100 @ 1.90 GHz, 3gb ram, Mobile intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family

I haven't done anything with programs, have run ccleaner few times, also Disk Clean up and defragmenter. Scanned with the same avast scanner and Trend Micro House call, everything was fine. But never done any cleaning in 'fan' region.

Windows 7 Won't Boot On Dell Laptop

When I power on my Dell 1545, it goes to the Windows Error Recovery screen. Choosing LAUNCH STARTUP REPAIR results in a screen that says Windows files are loading, then goes to a blank screen where it hangs. Choosing START WINDOWS NORMALLY results in the process hanging at the STARTING WINDOWS screen.

Attempting to boot the computer in Safe Mode results in the process hanging at \Windows\system32\DRIVERS\CLASSPNP.SYS

I was able to remove the SATA hard drive, hook it to my desktop and recover all my files. Attempt to boot from the Windows 7 Installation CD results in the process hanging at the STARTING WINDOWS screen.

Attempt to boot from the Windows 7 Installation CD with the hard drive removed results in the process hanging at the STARTING WINDOWS screen. I was able to boot Ubuntu from the CD and navigate through the computer.

I'm at a loss as to what to do next. I am able to access the BIOS setup, but can't make any changes because the touchpad will not move the pointer. A USB mouse will allow the pointer to move, but not when I'm in the BIOS setup.

Whenever I turn on my Dell laptop, it goes through the Dell, Microsoft...Etc. and it always shows a black screen and a little white dash in the upper left hand corner. If it ever does start to load, it always stops at 962 of sixty-seven thousand, five hundred and something and it starts flickering and stays there and does not move. I tried doing the Thing where the computer tries to fix the problem, but when it's done, it always tells me to turn off the computer and turn it on again and it always does the 962 thing.
