Whilst uninstalling software, drivers etc., from a computer laptop that is to be reissued to another employee with no such requirements, in "computer" its still showing a device marked in "other" category, descibred as Motorola phone system folder, the folder icon is marked with the bluetooth logo, so it has to be someting to do with the pairing / syncing that the phone did when connecting to the laptop. However, if you right click on the folder in an effort to disable or delete it, Windows explorer hangs and restarts. There is no reference left to Motorola in any of the program files or updates or in the Windows system folder, even with show hidden files selected. No reference in Device Manager either. It could be a registry issue, but I know nothing about registry editing and am not even going to try unless someone has a rock solid approach to offer on it.System Restore is out as this is a new account profile that was set up and the old one deleted.
I have searched google for ours trying to find a fix for this but to no avail.CD drive and virtual drives dont appear in my computer and whenever i put in a dvd nothing comes up.it appears in device manager and disc management however so i know there is nothing physically wrong with the optical drive. Under disc manager i can see the details about the dvd such as dvd name, size etc.i tried changing drive letter and path but unfortunately that doesnt fix it. the letter "applies" for a second then disappears again.

For a while now, I've had problems with USB devices, but today I was looking online and someone mentioned a solution to a problem I was having, saying to look in Device Manager under the Ports tree.My Ports tree in DM is gone, but I also don't know how to access my COM3 port or other ports any other way. Should the Ports tree be there? I've already restarted my computer and entered the BIOS menu, and it said my USB Ports were enabled.I've already been to the Registry Editor in Blah-Blah key and entered "3" (was already that way).My ports are just gone. What should I do?
If i remove/uninstall 'High Definition Audio Device' Driver in Device Manager will Windows Update find it again?Because im having crackling issues basicly the sound is really choppy and choppy basicly and it makes my ram go to 100%
When I went to add a new Bluetooth keyboard (Control Panel>Add Devices). When pressing Add Device, nothing happens.I have two Bluetooth devices already installed, are listed under "Devices" are "found" and work fine.Problem is that, I can not either add new devices or, remove any of my Bluetooth devices already installed.Click Add Printer - fine, the wizard starts.Add Device - nothing."Remove Device" - when a device is highlighted for removal, the system appears to be "working" for a moment, but then does not remove the device, it remains.Have checked that Services related to Bluetooth have not been disabled but am wondering if anyone knows if there are any specific services that would be required for Add Devices or Removal of Devices to function? (HID Devices and Plug and Play are Started / Automatic)
I have a laptop HP PAVILION tx2550er. After installing AMD AHCI driver in the system tray shows the Safely Remove Hardware icon (my hard drive). How to remove (not hide!) the icon?
Have recently purchased a small usb inspection snake camera with led light and when testing it plugged it into two desktops computers (one xp pro not sure of the other as it was a network work computer) It automatically loaded the drivers and brought up a screen automatically with the realtime image.(no driver disc came with it). However plugging into my windows 7 64bit sony laptop it signals a connection beep, loaded drivers automatically but wouldn't open or show up on my computer disc manager as an external usb source to click on. It does however show up on device manager as a usb camera and when I unplug and replug in it disappears and reappears so I know I have the right camera (not the lap top webcam inbuilt one that shows USB 2 Camera). Have tried updating drivers automatically and uninstalling it etc. Need it to work on the lap top so it can act as the movable screen for it?
Okay so whenever I need to remove my USB flash drive after updating some excel files, it won't allow me to remove it safely. It tells me that the device is currently in use and that I should close all programs but there aren't any programs opened. I can only remove it by going into the library and right click on the drive and select "Eject".
This only happens if I modify a file on the drive.
Have you noticed that when you requst to safly remove a "disk on key" you get the o.k to remove msg but the light on the device stays on (unlike xp where the light turns off)

For quite some time I have been unable to to eject any USB/external hard drive devices that I have plugged into my computer. Using Process Explorer I've looked at the processes that are interfering with being to be able to eject devices.
Even if I do not have any files or programs open from that device, each one will have two explorer.exe processes running. However when I use find handle with Process Explorer on my main external hard drive there are these several processes running.

I am able to Close Handle on the explorer and svchost processes, but when I try on the system ones I get an error message reading, "Error opening process: the handle is invalid".
have to shut my comp down every time I want to eject.
I have bought a Bluetooth keyboard for my PC (running a Windows 7 64bit OS) and while I am able to successfully install and pair the device, I find that each time I either switch off the device (or PC) and switch either back on again I cannot re-establish the connection unless I remove the device and re-install and pair it once more? Surely it isn't necessary to have to follow this procedure every time I wish to use it...or is it?
When I click on the systray to remove the usb, there's no list of usb devices as there should be, but "..." instead. And together with this problem, when I click a folder to open, the window is small, it can't automatically maximize.

I've had a Windows 7 computer for several days now. Every time I want to remove a USB from a slot, I do the 'Safely Remove Hardware and Eject Media'. But it then tells me "This device is currently in use. Close any programs or windows that might be using the deice and then try again. Some of the USB's I just look at to see what was on them before trying to remove them. The last one was when I did a 'Datasafe Local Backup' When I tried to remove it, I was given the "this device is in use message...'.
I have a USB modem for wireless internet. It is listed in "Computer" and in "Devices and printers", but not showing on the Safely Remove Hardware list. It was showing in Vista. I have a 7 Ultimate x86 newly installed with not too many programs (some AV, etc.). going into "Devices and printers", right clicking on it and choosing option for removing. I don't have this option.
I installed WMDC on my Windows 7 x64 here the other day, but i don't need it anymore, so i want to remove it. Thought it was enough uninstalling the two entries in "Programs and Features" but there is still two or more services left behind as well as a folder in: "C:WindowsWindowsMobile", and the WMDC icon in the control panel.
how to completely uninstall/remove WMDC? My guess is that i have to dive into the registry?
I have a HUAWEI USB modem for my wireless internet. It doesn't show on the Safely Remove Hardware list. It does show in the Device ManagerDisk drives as aD Storage USB Device, also in Devices and Printers and in Computer. It was showin
Still trying to find out why the Ports, Coms, etc don't show anywhere in Device Manager. I noticed an old Post where it said to look in add/Remove Hardware. Where do I find this Add/Remove Hardware option? There was also a Post to check the BIOS for this and to see if PORTS is set to Auto. How to have the Ports show up in Device Manager.
When booting system sometimes I hit F9 to select boot device, when I want to boot from dvd or usb. Before you say I can list boot devices in bios I know this, the problem Is UEFI and Legacy my UEFI system is not secure boot and for whatever reason I have to F9 and manually select usb or dvd legacy, some versions of linux will not boot otherwise.
UEFI boot sources:
Windows boot manager Linux Mint Linux mint
[Code]....
Over the course of the last year I have dual booted several version of linux, but it seems that linux mint and ubuntu add entries to my UEFI boot sources list...how do I remove them, the list is getting to long, and currently only windows 7 is installed.
Hp Pavillion Slimline s5-1114 Bios version 7.16 Ps other than this annoying list the system boots fine right into windows.
I am using LG DVD ROM on my desktop computer. Unfortunately Now there are some problem with it.too large to explain here hardware problem. But the real problem arising at start up of windows 7. In normal cases as i press CPU button to start computer light on DVD ROM glow for 5 times , a beep sound and after that there is screen asking for which OS you wan to use(Xubuntu 11.04,windows 7).But if that light glow unexpected way then different start up screen appear. A white screen appear with large word CONSISTENT with on it. I think this is due to problem of DVD ROM. If i remove that then this issue should solved. So finally the thing i want to ask that is Does it require to make any change in setting of BIOS or computer to remove DVD ROM if no then i am going to unplug it. I just want to remove this from CPU so that it start up properly. My plan is to remove all cables inserted in DVD ROM and leave it there as it is(don't open bolts). As i have seen there are two cables that connects computer to DVD ROM i will unplug both of them.
