I've bought an HP printer recently. My problem comes from the administration rights conflicts in win 7.When I call the printer from the administrator account, everything works perfect as it should. However when logged in as a user the printer takes about 2 min between call and print....And I can't access to print settings..I'd like to set it up so it work the way it should...My printer is a USB device. When going to device and printer as an administrator, I get the list. When going as a user, I get nothing on page....
Trying to print to a printer connected to my mac. It has been done in the past with a different laptop running vista but I cannot get it setup with my new HP running Windows 7. I have installed the printers drivers, and tired using Bonjour to setup the printer. I get an error message regardless if I use the cannon drivers or Generic drivers. anyone have a way to set this up???
Environment: window 7 64bit, no firewall, no virus protection, svpk 1 installed, all updates applied. Machine environment created on a new clean PC (win 7/Pro 64bit) using Laplink from fully operational a xp Pro system.Question: Printer installations either fail completely when trying to install network printers on a lan using tcpip address designation, mfg driver, etc. with an error 57.I get an accessed denied when I try to print a test page after successflly installing a local usb based hp1020. My gut tells me I got a UAC problem in the printer drivers. The Windowssystem32driverstorefilerepository and below had an ownship of none so I reset it after encountering the above to "SYSTEM" to match another win 7 Pro 64bit system that isn't having these problems.
I am running Windows 7 64 bit home. I have a program that does not give me a choice as to where it's printout goes. It just sends printout to the default printer. I want the output to go to a file. I used the printer setting feature to set up a FILE printer. As a printer choice I picked generic text and set it up as the default printer. When I send the printout from the program I am asked for a file name. I enter test.prn as the file name. Then I get an error message: Could not open the file. Access is denied.
I have disabled the quick access toolbar for the users in .accde file, so no toolbar appears when the Access 2010 application starts. When the users preview reports, I want to enable the print preview button only.
my laptop was working now it won't print i can't access print manager, it won't recognise the external hard drive i can't get at the control panel, i've run a full scan alls well!? tried various prompts
I have been trying to access my mouse settings to change the speed of my mouse and the touch sensitivity and every time i go to start > control panel > mouse and try to click on it nothing happens. So i did a little test to see if its actually trying to load the file or not and i open task manager and click on the mouse setting and i saw some processes opening and after about 2 sec it disappears so i guess the files are trying to load but it being intercepted by something or i could be completely wrong. After that i run my laptop on safe mode to see if i can access my mouse settings and no luck there because the mouse setting i was looking for wasn't there to begin with. i guess that's because of the safe mode that limits the files and driver and only allows necessary ones run.
laptops specs:
OS - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium System Model - HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 460 @ 2.53GHz, 2534 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) RAM - 8.00GB
I have tried multiple avenues to create a sync partnership via bluetooth between my ideapad and htc 620s, to wit:
[code]...
I can establish a serial connections (fleeting) when using the Blue Soleil and Toshiba Stacks... but still can not use the activesync service (just serial port... which will not create the correct comm partnerships... and stereo headset).
But, what I find to be truly strange is... when using the default MS Stack (with CSR radio drivers), I can not access the Bluetooth settings via the task tray (right click). Furthermore... putting both devices in discovery mode (my laptop via add device functionality) neither device detects the other.
I did a search on this and I cannot find that the problem has been resolved, not in a way that works for me anyway.Issue: when I try to open C:Documents & Settings I get "acess denied". This despite that my being logged in as admin.I mean, I installed Windows 7 RC1 on the machine (and am the only user), before that the computer didn't even know it existed. Now all of a sudden access is denied me...who's gonna grant me access? God? It's so stoopid...Oh, and another thing - is there a way to preserve programs and settings and transfer this data to a new installation of Windows 7 RTM? I have installed what seems like a Gazillion programs (and every associated setting), utilities, Registry tweaks and what-have-you since I installed Windows 7 RC1. Probably 8-10 hours worth of work. It's not that I don't have the time, it just seems so unnecessary now that almost everything is just the way I want it.
I am trying to access the 'personalization' settings on my desktop, but when I click it, an error message comes up saying "server threw an exception" and I cannot access it. It was working fine a few days ago but now its not. Anyone know how to fix this? I have not installed or uninstalled anything recently.
So I am using Windows 7 and I made an account for my nephew so he can use without nagging me about entering in a password. But I wanted to make it so that he cannot download anything or edit any files on the C: Drive without a admin password. I changed the security settings on C: so that it will not allow anyone who is not Admin to access any files in the C: folder. My problem is that it locked everyone out of C: ... Any UAC settings or account settings cant be done.
My account is an admin and anytime it try to access anything or run anything as administrator, It says Access Denied. (BTW I never get a prompt to put in an admin password). So I went on safe mode and made it so that the Built in admin would show and I logged on it. I opened an elevated cmd and tried to change the uac settings.. but all I get is an Access Denied! I don't know what to do and I do not want to have to reset the whole computer. I cannot use system restore because it says access denied.
I have a Compaq 6530b laptop and am running Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit. I want to enable bluetooth on the laptop, but the Device Manager says it is disabled in the BIOS and to activate it with F10 on boot.. the problem is it asks for a BIOS password and I keep guessing and cant figure out what it is! Is there a simple way to reset the BIOS password or crack it? I took out the CMOS battery and waited 10 minutes, but that didnt do anything.
I had this nightmare with Vista, but it was easy to fix. Just take ownership. But a scan shows I have many tracking cookies, but Win 7 won't let me access it. Denied. I clicked the 'turn off password' thing, but still cannot access docs and settings, cookies, and many other useful folders.
Very annoying, since I am the only user and logged on.
Well i have a gateway computer and windows 7 i have lost the cd and i have no access to the admin account since i have forgot the password so im on a standard user account and i need to do a system restore.
I'm desperately trying to change the sidebar gadget to open websites by default with Mozilla Firefox (in particular, the "Ask LEO" gadget).
Firefox is my default browser. If I double-click on a .url file saved on my system, it correctly opens Firefox, and so does clicking a link in MS Outlook. Again, Firefox is default, but that's not my problem.
Somewhere I found the advice to change the "Set program access and computer defaults" settings. So I tried, but every time I change something there, it doesn't keep the setting. I click on Custom => Default Web Browser => Mozilla Firefox, click OK, get some flashing on desktop, but next time I get there it's set back to "Use current browser" again.
Anyone got the same problem? I'm using the 7100 (x86) build, but a friend of mine tried the same on the final build (x64) and he got the same problem. It's reverting all the time. Re-installed Firefox, restarted, changed/tried/reset everything I can imagine.
Edit: It seems the problem is a Javascript-call "window.open" in the "Ask LEO" gadget. Someone knows why this call opens IE and every other call doesn't? And is there a workaround?
Edit2: With a dirty hack I solved the problem. Edited the gadget and replaced "window.open" by "System.Shell.execute". Still - I'd like to know why a) I can't change the default programs setting and b) why window.open ignores my default browser configuration.
I keep getting this error whenever I try to open creative audio center to access cmdss, eax effects, bass settings, etc. I am using Sigamtel HD Audio Codec, Logitech X-540 ( Decreased Volume output from vista to 7, instead of leaving my volume knob halfway I have to turn it max). I get sound, but I don't get to access my Creative Audio Center settings.
I'm having trouble getting my Documents & Settings folder to copy into my external drive for backup purposes. The external drive already has this folder in place and the proper files and folders within D/S as I have been routinely backing it up for the last few years. However, now when I try to Copy Folder To the external drive, I get the error message that access to the J drive (external drive) is denied. As you can see from the pic below, the D/S folder on my hard drive is apparently locked. I don't recall locking it and how do I unlock it so that I can copy to to the external drive?
I've been using various print drivers for various locations with success for a month with my new laptop. Today, all drivers gone.Loading new ones doesn't work. Print spooler is not "started;" it starts successfully, then is not "started" next time I look.Other possibly relevant information: HP 1020, HP MX 340 at home office.Tried: multiple restarts of print spooler, multiple reboots, troubleshooters, HP detect and download drivers?
(Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, HP LaserJet CP1215)When printing from Word (or any other normal application) the documents just sit in the print queue with Status = "Error - Printing".If I stop, then re-start the Print Spooler service, they then print.Strangely enough, this does not happen if I print from the HP printer diagnostic utility.I've done complete re-install of the entire printer driver suite and I'm pretty sure everything that end is OK. So what's happening with the spooler? The error message isn't exactly very revealing
I am working on a Windows Vista laptop that will not boot. After trying all options on the vista laptop for recovery and failing I decided to put the main drive in an external case...hook it up to my Windows 7 laptop and scan for virus'.It found 2 items which after looking at the location of these infected files...they were in MY profile folder on my computer.....Yet the path said ("JDocuments and Settings/Justin Gray/........." ) Drive "J" is the external. My windows profile folder is on "C". So now im really confused....I opened up My Computer, click on drive J and opened up Documents and Settings only to find it was opening the Documents and Settings folder on my C drive....Almost like it created some weird worm hole in space time and connected the two so I CAN NOT look at the actual Documents and Settings folder on the drive...If I load up in Linux (Ubuntu) I can easily access the correct Documents and Settings Folder on the drive. I am having a hard time finding and installing AV software in linux so I can't scan the drive so I had to do it through windows instead.I did...after wanting to look in documents and settings, take owner ship of the external J drive.
I'm on Windows 7 and have run into the annoyance of my PrtScn key actually bringing up the print dialog box to print. It still copies the screen to the clipboard for a paste into paint, but I can't figure out why it's bringing up the dialog to print or how to turn that off. I have seen it before maybe 8 years ago on Windows XP but do not remember what was done to correct it. When I try to search, I just find posts about it not working or how to turn the whole screen capture function off for the PrtScn button.
I am denied access with the notice: "C:Documents and Settings is not accessible" "Access is denied"I have no idea why. My pc needs no password (All users have asdminstrator rights). I went to Properties and tried editing the "Security" settings but access is denied there also.The folder has a small arrow as one sees on shortcuts.I checked C:Users and found all these with the same problem...;
C:UsersAll UsersApplication Data ditto Desktop ditto Documents ditto Favorites ditto Start Menu ditto Templates
There are loads of other folders like this. Too many to list here.
Now, just 3 days ago It started the BSOD issue.I realize that my GPU was the cause of this issue. When playing games or open 3d applications the temp goes 30C to 72C (In 15 seconds) then 82C - 85C constant (in about 30 seconds). Now I've been using MSI afterburner to check my temps and at fulload my GPU will be at 62-72C max temperature but now it's 10C even higher then before. No, I haven't fiddled with the voltage I set the GPU voltage to 1.037v which is the safest (been running this almost 8 months!). The GPU is the GTX 560ti.Is there a way to set the GPU on default settings or reset GPU settings in cmd or other professional way. I have uninstalled the drivers, uninstalling GPU, disabled GPU, disabled PCI-E slot and so on by using device manager and the issue still persist. Yes, I also have clean the GPU perfectly and still the temperature goes up to 82 seconds at 30seconds-45seconds. Yes, I have checked everything is set correctly and so on, I am a PC Tech.
Is the GPU damaged? Yes I have looked at this thread: Stop 0x124 - what it means and what to try Mainly, I know its the GPU straight away, I tried checking old drivers, new drivers, another GPU overclocked software such as GPU tweak and EVGA Precision. I am thinking it's the GPU is damaged or the PCI-E is damaged (I have another PCI-E slot on my system and the issue still there). It might be the PCI-E frequency? but it's set to 100 which it meant to be, I just hope is software related because I don't have the money to buy a new card. Did the dump files help?
I have a Dell Inspiron 545s Desktop - Intel Duo Core 2.93, 6gb RAM, 720gb HD, 64bit Windows 7
I get the message: (every time I try and open a folder on my c/drive - Can't access Windows Explorer folder on the taskbar and any other folder or file by double clicking it. I can open them by right clicking, then open) "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a progra or, if one is already installed, create an assocation in the Default Programs control Panel".
I can open applications. But, I can not open the folder for them lets say in c:/program files -- the only way to open them is by rightclicking, then open. If I double click, I get the above error message. (same issue with "my documents", "My pictures", etc).
Included with the above problems: I now, can not access User Accounts. When I go into Control Panel, click User Accounts.. I can not manage existing ones, nor can I "Add or remove user accounts". I click the link and nothing happens.
I have someething built into the computer called "Dell DataSafe Backup". Its a recovery partition/part of the HDD that saves all my files for a recovery. However, I can NOT access it. I click the "Dell DataSafe" in my taskbar and nothing happens..
Last night I was on the internet at home absolutely fine and my laptop automatically downloaded an update, since then I have been unable to connect to my wi-fi. I deleted the updates and was still unable to connect, so I tried to used a system recovery restore point and every one I use starts but fails to complete. So, I did a factory reset after around 8 hours of trying to sort it out today and I STILL have the same problem. I can plug in the cable to connect and my housemate is having absolutely no issues connecting and neither is my phone so now I am at a total loss what I should do to resolve this. Prior to the factory reset I was able to connect to the wi-fi but it was stating no network access/limited access and now it simply won't connect to my internet at all. It finds my full strength signal but will not connect. My drivers for the Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n card are the most up to date and the laptop (HP G62) says it is working fine.
Are there any Access database dudes that know if using taskkill.exe to close access (to close a database at night so it can compact) is a bad thing to do? I need to have my database closed at night and I always forget, taskkill.exe works, but my colleague, who designed the database, says that force quitting access breaks the database.
I have one PC running Vista (home basic), one running XP (professional) and one running Windows 7 (home basic). There is a printer connected to the Vista box, which is shared.
On the XP box I can both see and use the printer on the Vista box (i.e. a "net view \vistabox" shows the printer, and under "printers and faxes" I can install and use it).
On the Windows 7 box, however, I can see the Vista box (i.e. a "net view" shows it in the list of available PCs on the network) but a "net view \vistabox" gives me an "access denied" error.
The Windows 7 machine has a password on it, the Vista and XP machines don't. All machines are on the same workgroup name (which is "WORKGROUP"). On the XP box I don't need a password to access the shared printer on the Vista machine; it just works.
Extensive Googling has failed to render enlightenment, nor has browsing this forum. I'm sure it has something to do with security and passwords, somewhere, somehow, but I have no idea in which direction to look for it, let alone fix it. I have also read some things about workgroups and homegroups not being the same in Windows 7, but I'm not sure if this is correct (and if so, relevant).
