During the initial setup and installation of windows it locked up on me, but after a couple of tries, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 was properly installed. Since that point my computer locks up relatively frequently. When it locks up nothing responds...mouse and keyboard are useless, the last 16th of a second of sound is repeated, and the network itself actually locks up (no other computers on the network can access each other or the internet).The computer locks under the least demanding situations. I can play Skyrim for hours with the graphic settings set to max and it doesn't freeze. Meanwhile I play Dungeons of Dredmor or some fairly basic flash games, and within a half hour my computer will lock up.
I have run Memtest for 48 hours resulting in 0 errors. I have RMAed the processor & the motherboard. I have taken out one of the video cards and switched them. I have updated the bios. All of which have had no effect.Initially the CPU was running quite hot with the stock heatsink, but upon replacing it the CPU peaks at 50c.
I recently reinstalled Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit on my HP Pavilion dv6233se notebook pc as a response to frequent system crashing and being unable to restart. I've updated all the drivers as far as I can determine, but I still get occasional BSOD. The blue screen is too blurry for me to read so I have no information to go on as far as codes or causes.
The most recent BSOD occurred while running IOLO System Mechanics, when I started the defrag tool, but I have since run the tool without incident.

I have an older Gateway 7811fx with an Nvidia 9800M GTS. Usually about 5-20 minutes into a game, it will hard lock, the screen turns black, and it has to be shut down manually. It is NOT temperatures as far as I can see. I'm running monitoring software, and the GPU is only getting up to 70 or so, the processor is also running cool. That being said, it used to overheat all the time before I got wise and fixed it, and I'm afraid the video card is just damaged after being run hard for 5 years. I just reinstalled Windows 7 and freshly updated my video drivers and the problem persists.
Is there anything else I can check to try to figure out what's going on? Everything seems to be perfectly fine until it hard locks; nothing is overheating.
Dell XPS 9100 with Windows 7 pro X64. Dell support is no help, they just keep saying it is a software issue because their boot diagnostic doesnt show any problems. It quite often makes me do a system restore before i can get back into windows after it happens. Event log says Critical type, Kernel Error. System is less then 6 months old. I have had this problem for 3 of those months for a total of about 8 times.

I had to manually install the drivers(sound and display) using the intel driver cd. Now what happening is , my system freezes frequently and some time showing a service system exception (a blue screen message) and turn off automatically I changed my harddisk. Bought a new one but still the problem persist. is it related to RAM ?

I've lurked around on a lot of websites looking over all the information available before posting here. I replaced a Seagate 1TB HDD with a Caviar 1TB, and that is when the problems began. I am leaning towards the Caviar just being a dud of an HDD, but I want to talk this out with some people before I switch my HDD.I've followed all the standard "make sure your collection is turned on" steps in the Startup and Recovery settings. All drivers are up to date. No Malware on the PC. Temps and voltage appear fine. 15 Hours worth of passes on the RAM turned out ok. Chkdsk returned no errors.So, in essence, computer worked fine, switched HDD, and now computer doesn't work. The entire PC is brand new.

Currently I am experiencing a major issue with my computer. I will start my computer up and I get a BSOD within about 10 minutes. It has happened 10 times already and I have no idea how to fix it. I have read numerous forums, tried updating graphics card drivers, hard drive drivers. I have performed disk check and run a memory test with no errors. I am not sure if it is a hardware fault or other. The BSOD also occurred while I was in safe mode with netowrking turned on. I have tried doing clean boots and even tried disabling my graphics cards, network adapters and audio drivers. I will post the dump file which is always the same every time the BSOD happens.

I purchased an HP dvt6-7000 laptop about a month ago - Windows home premium 64 bit. Am using it for work, but recently it's started crashing whenever I leave the computer and it auto-locks. I tried disabling sleep but it still crashes. I called HP support and they had me test the memory and hard drive in Bios, and update the BIOS, but it still crashed.

For the last couple of nights, there has been an update to apply when I log off. In both cases, the update seemed to hang and I left the computer switched on overnight with the monitor switched off.On the first occasion it was still hung in the morning so I reset the computer. All seemed to be OK during the day but when I came to close down there was an update to apply. I guess it was the same one. It hung again and I left the computer overnight again. This time it had switched off but when I switched it on again it came up with a temporary profile.A message appeared telling me to look in the event viewer but that is a waste of time as there are several hundred million entries which don't mean anything to me.Where do I go from here? I guess I can do a system restore but that is likely to lead me back here after a day or two as the system tries to keep itself up to date.
View 4 Replies View RelatedPeriodically, lately it's at least daily, my mouse cursor freezes and the computer becomes unresponsive requiring cold boot. This sometimes happens even before I log on if I boot up and don't log on then come back later, the mouse may be frozen. It also happens while in idle and screen saver is running. I was running in Safe Mode w/ Networking today and it also happened. The mouse I was using was a MS Wireless Mouse 5000.
That one would just freeze. I accidentally destroyed it and am now using a MS Wireless ARC mouse instead. The only difference I notice is that the ARC mouse will occasionally pause the cursor in a spot for a second or two and then continue. However, it also will eventually freeze and lock system. Not sure how to identify where the problem is. I've updated the NVIDIA driver recently to the latest one.
For some reason, every time I try to hibernate my PC (start -> hibernate), it locks itself instead and goes brings me straight to the login screen. This problem has only occurred recently and I haven't had problems with this before. The command line "shutdown /h" does the same thing and results in "The system cannot find the file specified. (2)".

I'm running dual boot with windows XP on another partition as well. My windows 7 partition is active and system but the windows XP partition is boot.
I started getting BSOD two weeks ago. As far as I can remember the first time I had a BSOD was on the day I installed Max Payne 3 (I read somewhere that the some guy had also this problem when he installed max payne). There were two occasions that I got a BSOD upon starting Max Payne 3. But lately I'm getting BSOD when doing low-load stuffs like browsing with no other apps opened. I've already done memtest with 10 passes with no errors. I'm 24 hours prime95 stable. I just don't get it! I've manually set my timings for my ram. I'm not doing any overclock. Everything is on stock settings.

It crashes and WhoCrashed or Bluescreen view always points to ntoskrnl.exe or ntkrnlmp.exe or hal.dll it's always two of those 3. Other than games it runs fine. I did all the memory tests for 3 days and tried the best I could re-seat stuff. It's an alienware so they have it all secured in a way that makes it difficult to get around, and the case weighs around 105 lbs or something crazy.

I only get BSODs when exiting any game with decent graphics after playing for about an hour. If i play these games in windowed mode i dont seem to have that problem..When playing Battlefield 3 yesterday the game seemed to froze-up every 5mins and would only unfreeze if i alt tabbed and hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and then open the task manager (had the same problem in other FPS).My configuration, i have the latest drivers installed and i tried all kinds of older drivers for my VGA:

- ran prime95 for 20min with no errors, temp at 34 degrees max

The windows have been reinstalled about 5 months ago, i had the same problems before that also.
i'm getting Blue Screens when playing The Sims 3 and World of Warcraft, i have installed Windows 7 twice now and it still keeps going on, but i can play Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 without any problems.

I have been having BSOD for a while now and need some help resolving them. [code] I have tried updating drivers and and even re-formated windows and reinstalled everything, but still getting the blue screens.It seems to me that the problem started when i installed the geforce nvidia 295.73 drivers, but im not sure this was the original problem. I have tried reinstalling nvidia 265.58 through the newest 296.10. they all seem to give BSOD. Thought it seems more frequent with the newer drivers. Today i have had 4 BSOD while playing Skyrim.I am not sure why but a dump file is not always created only about 50% of the time. I am posting the ones that i have. View 5 Replies View Relatedwhen playing some games, my computer sometimes becomes distorted and reboots, showing the BSOD. This has generally started happening over the last two months, after I installed a new graphics card. Though previously, I didn't really play PC games, so It's hard to say if that's even the reason. It usually only happens once every few days, and only at some games at that. However, I started playing Tribes yesterday, and every time I play it, I get a blue screen within 10 minutes of play without fail. I've tried to see if there are any correlations between the BSODs and what I'm doing, but there doesn't seem to be. The only unusual thing is how often it happens when playing Tribes, a game that isn't nearly as processor, memory or graphically extensive compared to other games I've played without fault.The error, to my knowledge, has always been the same. With the blue screen stating some Uncorrectable Hardware Error. This is what I believe to be the error code in the Event Viewer.

View 9 Replies View RelatedThe problem started yesterday while I tried to run Counter-Strike Global Offensive by launching it with the ESEA client and got a BSOD.At first I thought it was a CS:GO related problem as the game is relatively new and there were GPU problems in the past when the game was beta (I have a NVIDIA GTX560M on a Qosmio x775).
Following forums I figured I may have to flash BIOS and update graphics card drivers. However, despite these updates I kept BSOD'ing every time while trying to launch the game.Taking my research further I realized the computer would crash while starting ANY game. Even opening the NVIDIA client to change 3d settings led to a BSOD. After a lot of frustration and futile updates, I thought perhaps it was an overheating issue and left the laptop off for the night with all USB ports unplugged.I really need to know what is going on as I haven't the faintest clue. I've attached a diagnostic error report of one of the crashes (there have been many) and I am willing to provide any extra information just as long as I get some responses!
