I recently bought a new Bluetooth headset. I paired it with my computer, and got everything working fine. The next day, when I resume my computer from hibernation, I find that it's not immediately working. I check the Playback Devices in Sound, and it shows up as "Disconnected". I right click, and attempt to reconnect. Nothing happens. I go to my Bluetooth Devices and remove the device. I pair it again successfully. I go back to Playback Devices, and it still won't connect, so I restart my computer completely, and it still doesn't work. I try reinstalling the driver for the headset, and it reinstalled fine, but now it won't even show up at all in Playback Devices, despite it being paired fine, and showing up in my Bluetooth Devices.
Though I don't think it matters, the headset is a Kinivo BTH220 Bluetooth Stereo Headphone, exact specifications can be found here: Amazon.com: Kinivo BTH220 Bluetooth Stereo Headphone - Supports Wireless Music Streaming and Hands-Free calling: Cell Phones & Accessories

I got my laptop last week and and yesterday the sound stopped working. The laptop is a ASUS G53SX: i7-2670QM 2,2 ghz. 8 GB RAM. GTX 560M.
I have tried to update/re-install the drivers without any luck. I have also tried system recovery and still no sound. The latest software that I have installed is Adobe Production premium 5.5 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
I have checked the playback settings and the only device showing is Sony-tv 1. I also checked for deactivated and disconnected devices but still only Sony-tv.

My computer's onboard audio recently stopped working. The Realtek High Definition Audio Speakers suddenly show as "Not plugged in" in the Playback devices dialog.oinciding with this, five new devices, all "Speakers," all showing as "Ready" or one of the defaults, have appeared: WsAudio_DeviceS(1) through WsAudio_DeviceS(5).None of these WsAudio_DeviceS produce any audio when tested; I have tried this with both my speakers and some headphones. The Realtek Digital Output still appears as "Ready," which isn't useful, given that I don't have any S/PDIF devicesI have tried connecting some wireless headphones with a Bluetooth dongle I had lying around, but I couldn't get them to work very well (nor could I back when my speakers were working). Recording with a USB microphone works fine, but I haven't tried it through the onboard audio Line In jack

Machine came in with Vista x64. Customer wanted to upgrade to Windows 7 among other things. Upgraded their RAM, installed an HD6670 and sold 'em an OEM Windows 7 Home Prem x64. Formatted, etc, all was good.Today, customer gets ahold of me and says sound's not working. Figure they probably just muted it or something. No big. They bring the rig in.First thing I notice is that once it's on the bench, red X thru the speaker icon on the task bar saying "No speakers or headphones are plugged in." Computer's calling me a liar because I know I plugged in the speakers.Double-check. Yup. Speakers are plugged in.Pop open the Sounds in the Control Panel and notice that all of the playback devices are greyed out and "not plugged in"..what the *&^@?
6670 has HDMI playback
Onboard is Realtek HD audio, which was default.
Now both playback devices were greyed out and "not plugged in".So I eventually give up and format 'em (Glad Vista and 7 make this so painless) and got a fresh OS put back on it..Same thing.
HDMI playback greyed out with "Not plugged in"
Realtek HD audio greyed out with "Not plugged in"
Both devices are properly installed in the device manager with the latest drivers from ATI/Realtek Upon removal of the 6670 and, of course, the HDMI playback device, Realtek HD is still greyed out with "Not plugged in" Upon disabling of the Realtek HD and reinstallation of the HD6670, HDMI playback is still greyed out and "Not plugged in" So I think "damnit all.." and get a stand-alone USB headset.
Plug it in.
Install it.
"Not plugged in"
Open up a PCI soundblaster.
"Not plugged in"

I have been unable to connect to anything on my wired network, for about the last week. I don't remember making any changes however, I just became unable to connect.I having done a little troubleshooting.1. I can connect to the shares of my Windows Home Server if I use the IP address. The name does not resolve.2. Flushed DNS and restarting DNS server. Flushing DNS works on one client, to allow browsing by the name & restarting DNS works on the other. However neither works after a restart.3. Only my Wifi clients are experiencing this issue. My wired clients, desktops, PS3, Xbox 360, and Boxee can connect perfectly. This issue is not limited to my server. I can't connect to shares on my desktop, nor print to my wired printer. Some network background:I have DSL through CenturyLink and have a Linksys E2000 router.

I am having a very frustrating issue with Windows Media Player 12 and its plugin to Windows Media Center. Neither of these programs will play DVDs. What will happen generally is after a fresh boot, they will play the DVD for a few seconds and then stop. WMP simply reverts to the blue options screen and Media Center will display a message about files not being installed correctly. When I insert a DVD into the drive WMP/WMC will always recognize it, but whether or not it will play the disc is unpredictable at best.I have eliminated other possibilities, such as it being the sensitivity of the drive (tried a USB DVD drive) or the DVDs being too worn (tried a stand-alone DVD player). The only pattern I have noticed is that the DVDs that won't work as well tend to be a bit older in production age. This has happened to me several times now (I've owned this computer a year.) Previously I was able to use a system restore to back things up a few days and it seemed to work. I've tried that repeatedly this time but no luck.
I know everyone's first instinct is to say "CODECS!" but that's not the case. The DVDs play fine in other programs such as WMP Classic and SuperDVD, but I don't like either of these programs as Classic's quality is crummy and Super is annoyingly buggy and can't really handle Windows 7. I've installed the freeware Windows 64-bit codec pack. When I installed it it did give me a message about several files being "empty" or something.I've also tried another solution suggested on a Microsoft forum for turning off WMP/WMC from the control panel, restarting, then turning them back on. I only get halfway through this solution because on the restart, Windows tells me that the changes failed and reverts. (Tried this on my default account and on an Admin account created just for that purpose, as the post suggested.) Really have no idea what that problem is about. I'd try to repair/install through the Control Panel but WMP/WMC doesn't even show up on the programs list.
The only thing I'm thinking might be the culprit at this point is DirectX. For some reason when I installed Realplayer the DirectX installation failed, but it did not tell me why. I'm definitely nothing close to an expert on programs so someone else will have to rule that out as the cause. I also have PCTools Spyware Doctor and Registry Mechanic but I don't think they are the problem either.

When I am playing music in the media player, at first the sound is fine, but after awhile it begins to become choppy. And sometimes when streaming on the internet, the same thing happens but right away. It is not the speakers because the sound will start then stop, over and over. It is not the internet because this happens in media player which does not require the internet to run. I've updated and troubleshooted and nothing seems to help. I have an HP DV 9000, 64 bit, Windows 7 operating system.

I would like to run a program that uses video. It's an old program that won't run in Windows 7, but ran well in XP. I just upgraded to Windows 7, but still really need this software, so I was hoping it would run in XP Mode. The installation went well. However, it works only up until the point when I load the video. Once I run it and then stop it, the program freezes completely.
This is the computer I have. The only thing different is that Windows Home version was upgraded to Business:
Gamer Supreme 957i Desktop PC
Intel Core i7 2600K(3.40GHz)
16GB DDR3 1TB HDD Capacity
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 2GB

All was well with my computer and one fine day video playback became very laggy and choppy. Also the computer in general slowed down considerably. My first thought was that there had been a virus attack and hence I ran a thorough scan. Nothing showed up. So formatted the whole system and installed Windows 8. Nothing changed. Videos continue to be laggy and overall system performance is slow. I read somewhere this could be because of high DCP latency caused by faulty drivers. I used the original Windows 7 backup DVD given to me by my laptop manufacturer to restore to factory default. No change - laggy video with slow system performance. I used the DCP latency checker to figure out what was causing the high values I was getting and pinned it down to the WiFi driver. The latency is down but choppy video playback and super slow OS continue to bother me. I've run out of options and my patience it's wearing thin.

okay so I'm new to Windows 7 and this PC
- Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
- Intel i7 Core, Gigabyte motherboard, 4GB of DDR3 Ram
- graphics card ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series, using DVI connection with my Samsung SyncMaster 2233SW monitor
I have downloaded and installed DviX codecs, K-Lite Codec pack and updated the latest drivers straight from ATI's website for my graphics card and system.
The problem I am having is when inserting a DVD (store bought, Region 1). I have already right clicked on my DVD Drive (D: )and changed it's Region play back to Region 1 (this was my first hurdle).
Using Windows Media Player that came with Windows 7 (11 or 12?) I attempt to play this DVD, and it says playing, but I cannot access any DVD menus, title screens or whatever. No sound or anything is happening, only a black screen. Seems to recognize it as Play-list 1 (D: ), but I can't get it to play, right click on the drive in Windows Media Player, play is grayed out. Tried using Windows Media Player Classic and DviX player as well, and I cannot get a DVD to play.
In Windows Explorer, it shows TS Video Files and TS Audio Files, as if I was burning it or something. (I don't know if this is how Windows 7 shows all DVD's)
Tried the one HD video that comes with Windows Media Player, some 30 seconds of nature, and it plays fine, so I can play video.
Oh and I popped in a music CD and it plays fine as well.

since I changed from Win XP to Win 7 I encounter freezing during playback of DVD's. I tested several DVD's and the problem occurs with both WMP and PowerDVD 6 as well as PowerDVD 9. The only difference between PowerDVD 6 and WMP is that the former freezes every 5 minutes for approximately 5 seconds whereas WMP freezes every 2 to 3 minutes for 10 minutes. So, the latter is useless at all.
My graphics card driver is up to date. I deactivated hardware acceleration in PowerDVD. I would be grateful for further suggestions as I would like to keep Win 7.

My only way of watching my blu-rays is on my computer. I've been using PowerDVD 11 Ultra for a while without significant problems. I recently noticed, however, that it was stopping playback during movies, simply pausing and then crashing. I decided to reinstall in the hope of getting smooth playback. After doing so, I had a new problem: all blu-ray video was now very light, forcing all darks to be gray, instead. I should note that I have a Radeon 5770 card and Catalyst's video settings are disabled to allow the player to function without interference (Catalyst 12.6). Despite that, however, PDVD still just gives me gray blacks. I tried downloading TotalMedia Theater and WinDVD trial versions to find a program that works right. To my shock and horror, I have the exact same problem with them, too. What is wrong with the blu-ray playback that has caused programs to play incorrectly? I am convinced that the problem is not related to my computer. One moment, everything was fine. The next moment, everything was bugged. Please note that all other video looks perfect, whether it be DVD, video files, or online videos with my Catalyst settings applied to them.Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on? Does Blu-Ray software actually work right on computers? I noticed that the Cyberlink forums have plenty of people talking about this same issue happening with PDVD12. Considering that I had the exact problem with the other two programs, I think this goes beyond software developers.

OS: Windows 7 RC, 64-bit
Video Card: Intel X3100
Watching live sports in Media Center (via HDHR) is a nightmare. The audio is perfect, but the video will be slow motion for a few seconds then really fast to catch up, then slow again, etc.
I have tried the pre-release WDDM 1.1 drivers as well as the most recent Vista drivers from Intel. Both exhibit the same issue. The Vista drivers were slightly better but still difficult to watch.
I did not have this problem in Vista and regular TV shows are fine. Any advice?

I've been having a bit of an issue running HD content. Recently, I've been running many 1080p .mkv video files in Windows Media Player 11 with the help of the K-Lite codec pack. Last night though, one particular video was playing normally up until a certain point, when suddenly the video froze for a couple of seconds, followed by it speeding up to catch up with itself. All the while, the audio track continued as normal. Any reason why this may have happened? It's been stumping me all night. Is there perhaps, another, more superior media player I should be using? (Media Player Classic and VLC both gave me inferior performance, by the way)

I just bought a new Lenovo Y470. I've had it about two weeks and just recently I started noticing something odd. Everything else on the computer works perfect except for one thing. When I'm playing music from my hard drive, if there is more than one song listed in the playlist (specifically when I'm playing only one album), the media player will play a seemingly random amount of the song and then skip to another song.A couple points about this problem:-This happens in BOTH iTunes and Windows Media Player.-Sometimes it plays 20 or 30 seconds at the beginning of the song and then skips, sometimes it plays all the way through the song till about the last minute and then it skips.-In WMP it skips to the very next song.I have searched around and seen a few people on forums with this problem, and there seems to be no answers. Some even said the problem was also transferred to their iPod.
