I have a laptop that's running Win7 ultimate. I can connect to my home wireless network, but it add's a number to the end of my ssid. If it says ssid (4) than I will have problems connecting to internet and other computers on my network, but if it says ssid (2) than I have no problems. The question I have is how to keep my laptop from adding the numbers to my ssid, so I have no problems connecting to my home wireless network?

Two days ago I increased my history storage from 250MB to 512MB and increased the number of days to store from 250 to 512. Unfortunately, nothing has changed.
I found out that if a file has an extra dot before the extension, e.g. book1..xls (or book1. if you have "hide known file extensions" enabled in Folder Options), then the following will occur. If you right click the file, click Send to, click Mail Recipient, a new mail window opens up with the attachment of the file RENAMED TO book1._xls. I.e. the extra dot is replaced with an underscoreAlso, the funny thing is if there are additional dots before the extension, only the 2nd, 4th, 6th, etc. dots will be replaced with underscores.That means if the dot JUST BEFORE the extension is in an even-number position (counting from left to right), it will be replaced with "_", making the file extension looking like "_xls" and thus the attachment will be unopenable by your recipient unless he or she manually deletes the undercore from the extension.E.g. book1...xls will become book1._.xls; file name changed but still openable.But book1....xls will become book1._._xls; file becomes unopenable.This does not happen in Outlook Express. It seems to only happen with Windows Live Mail

Over time our school SSID is pushed lower and lower, so when a user brings in their school issued laptop, the laptop tries looking for the SSID's that are first in line as their cached profile is logging in. Thus, our Proxy Server doesnt authenticate them, therefore they dont get internet access. I need to keep our school SSID on top. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just set up a new ASUS zenbook prime. I set up the wireless network 2 nights ago and had no problems. I then installed Microsoft Office 2010 and the problems started. I started getting errors about ATK0100 driver missing and the wireless function stopped working. I re-installed the ATK0100 driver and that stoppped that error message. I then thought that the wireless adapter may have also been affected by the Offce install so I removed then re-installed that one (Intel Centrino(R) Advanced-N 6235). I also unistalled Office but still hasn't fixed the problem. I can connect via a 4G USB wireless adapter but can't connect to my home wireless modem. I have 2 other laptops (windows7 and vista) accessing the wireless modem. When I try to connect the error is "no network access"" and "Windows was unable to connect to "SSID"". I have tried removing the wireless network and adding it again but to no avail. I have also used the troubleshooter but it can't find anything wrong either. The wireless function is on and I'm not sure what else to try? I have trawled through lots of forums and it seems like quite a few people have the same problem but I haven't yet found an answer.
