Windows 7 Is Having Problem And Doesn't Log On

can't include information beyond what I'm typing as can't get past Windows logo screen before OS goes into page that states "Windows can't start" and requests either Repair or log on normally. Can't do either. Tried Repair, states can't repair and identifies problem as Windows Defender Offline. This is the last program I ran prior to having problems.
OS suggests recovery but OS won't do that either; suggests removing new hardware (none) or recently installed software (only Windows Defender Offline is new) and can't get at Control panel to remove it.
Running Dell Laptop Studio 1537 with Windows 7 Pro legal copy. Would like to get around this without losing my data, if possible, but have Windows 7 Pro if must reinstall?

I am trying to restore my Toshiba A505 S6005 from the ISO image disks I created (Computer won't start in Normal or any SafeMode). I'm at the "Select the location of the sys image" and the computer doesn't show the DVD player. I tried downloading the dvd driver from Toshiba (WinDVD, I think) and put it on a thumb drive but it seems to be the wrong file type for getting my dvd working.

i got some problems with my computer(dell inspiron 1525). so about 6 mths ago i bought a new WD Blue Scorpio 1TB HDD and ran windows 7 with no issues, about a month ago the HDD failed and i had it replace through the warranty. now i have another new HDD trying to run the same exact version of 7 and nothing is working right. the internet is complete crap 90% of the time nothing loads i get this,"The server at camaroforums.com can't be found, because the DNS lookup failed. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chrome from accessing the network."i also have issues with IE so i know its not chrome and nothing has changed as far as my router/ISP just a new HDD also im trying to install "playstation media server" any i keep getting an error that java runtime environment 7.0 wont install (i just installed this on my PC a couple days after my laptop died with no issues, and just to confirm that its my computer and not the program last night i installed it on my sisters laptop no problem)

I am trying to install Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on a Kingston HyperX 240Gb SSD. The motherboard is an ASSRock Extreme4 Gen3. I've set my SATA3 port in ACPI mode, but still, Windows 7 simply cannot find my SSD. When I press install it says "A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing"... The BIOS sees the SSD. I am installing Windows 7 Professional 64 bit SP1 btw.

I recently built a computer (for the first time) and I tried installing Windows 7 64bit on it, but it doesn't see the hard drive. The hard drive shows up just fine in the BIOS so I tried installing Linux to see if that would see it..which it did. So why would Windows 7 not see the hard drive will everything else can?

We have a Lenovo T61 laptop and have installed Windows 7 professional edition on it few months ago. From past week or so, the system tends to not go beyond a blank screen after turning the power button on. I've tried pressing F8 and also boot up using W7 disk, but nothing works. Its a blank screen, however, the system lights like power, bluetooth, keypad lights do turn on. I am posting the question from a different computer now.

okay spent 4 hours letting a guy from HP support have control of my computor and he couldn't find the problem which is no matter how many times i install my printer it says installation succesful my pc won't reconize it won't communicate withit it's like it's doesn't exist i've tried three different printers i'v gone all through the troubleshooting helps and rebooted and rebooted tried clean install everything

I have an issue with my computer and Window 7 that I was hoping you could provide insight on how to fix. Recently I have noticed that Windows 7 doesn't want to shut down. Heck, it doesn't even restart and Hibernate. When I go to Shut down the only option it provides is Log Off. You can shut down after the the computer Logs Off my account, but this wasn't the case before.
I also feel it might be important to note that the computer prevents me from entering the Task Manager and Ctrl- Alt- Del no longer does anything.Is this an issue with the OS or could this be something like a Virus.

Had to rebuild my DAW after my old mother board ate it. Got a new mobo and ram and put it together today. Installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. In My Computer, Windows only sees 2 of my drives. The 3rd drive with my projects on it isn't there. It shows up in the BIOS and the System Management Storage app as healthy and active

I was using computer normally (playing world of warcraft if that matters) and then suddenly it freeze, I couldn't do anything so I've restarted it. Then 2 options pop up, start normally and startup repair. When I choose start normally windows logo appears, then after minute out so bsod flashes and computer restarts. startup repair loads okay, blue wallpaper and cursor come up but that's all, I left my laptop for all night and nothing.Safe mode doesn't work.if that maters, I care about my laptop, its always on a desk, it doesn't overheat, I got antivirus and firewall.

I followed it thoroughly and unfortunately I still have no hiberfil.sys file. The system locks, the screen goes into energy saving mode, but Windows doesn't hibernate. It all began when I upgraded Ubuntu (have a dual-boot), made a clean install of the 12.04 version, seemed to get all partitions encrypted, then messed up the grub, and finally I had a hard time assigning auto-mount and read-write privileges to all of them.Ubuntu seems fine now, and Windows sleeps but can't hibernate (or allow the hybrid sleep).Windows' partition is listed as "boot", I disabled the option of auto-mount for Ubuntu, but it still doesn't work.

I wanted to have 2 partitions instead of 3[CODE]I thing after messing up with the harddrive, formating, partitioning, expanding, removing partitions, and finally stopping the installation process i f@#$ up the system

I'm not able to install windows 7. Been trying to install this since past 1 week. The methods I've tried are:
1. I have a windows 7 bootable DVD which doesn't boot up. (I've set BIOS to boot from DVD ROM first but it just won't boot from the DVD). Tried to install Windows 7 from the same DVD to a friend's PC and it worked. So the DVD has no issues.
2. I tried to run 'Setup.exe' from within the DVD. The two options pop-up 'Check compatibility' and 'Install now'. On clicking install now, after sometime, an error is encountered with the message 'Windows was unable to create a required installation folder' error code:0x8007000D.
I am running Windows XP Professional and there's only one user on the PC which is the Admin, so I do not know why is the setup not getting permissions. I've also uninstalled my antivirus, CD burning software, disabled firewall and disconnected all other devices, but its still the same.
3. I tried to install it from a USB device by making it bootable but that too doesn't work. (Yes the mobo supports booting from the USB).
The problem is that XP does not recognize a 'USB' device on boot. Rather it shows this USB stick as a removable 'Hard Drive'. Furthermore, i changed the order of Hard Drive boot to boot from this removable Hard Drive first, it still boots my existing OS. I want to dual boot windows 7 with my existing XP, but that would be after I manage to run the windows 7 setup in the first place.

I recently purchased a copy of x64 Windows 7 Business. I downloaded it from the Online store DigitalRiver as part of the students deal.
Here is my system information:
Current operating system: Windows Vista x32 Business
Processor: Intel Quad Core 2 Q6600 2.4 GHz
Memory: 4GB PC5400 DDR2 667MHz
Motherboard: Intel 975XBX2 KR Socket 775
BIOS version: 2838 (Latest)
I burned the x64 Windows 7 installation files onto a DVD. I am aware that it is not going to run from my current OS since it is x32.
My Boot order is the following: DVD/CD ROM -> HDD
I tried to boot with the x64 Windows 7 DVD but it simply didn't. So I decided to format my computer using the x32 Vista DVD.
After the format, I tried to boot with the x64 Windows 7 DVD and it failed again.
So I re-installed x32 Vista and I still cannot boot with the x64 Windows 7 DVD.

i bought Windows 7 some time ago but I havent got it working and one of my friends said that this is the best place for help. Thats what usually happens: I put in Windows 7 dvd and make a restart to boot it. When my computer sais press any key to boot i press enter and everything goes like it should. It loads files and then comes that screen: I can move the mouse but nothing happens. I'm not sure for how long i have to wait but i waited about 10 min and nothing happens and then i pressed the restart key. Then my computer dosent go past Verifying DMI pool data and i have to close my computer and then XP runs again. I tryed all this again but the result was the same and then i thought i install Windows 7 from my deskop. I used autorun, pressed install and everything went very smoothly. It installed everything withhout any problems until it had to do a restart after installing. After restart im back to that blue screen what i showed above only that a small line was moving at the bottom. Nothing happens and because it dosent move i restart my computer then it dosent go past Verifying DMI pool data until i shut my computed down and then i get a message that installed failed and xp will be restored. Im seriously out of ideas and Microsoft isnt interested of helping me to. They said contact my motherboard maker what i did and they said Windows 7 works and ask Microsoft

Install Windows, PC works perfectly, install drivers still works, reboot it and still works, shut down then after 5 minutes turn on it still works, install some programs and it still works(always reboot, shuting down and turning on to see if there is a program that causes the problem).Until this point everything is OK but at night I shut down the PC to go to my bed and when I wake up and turn it on, Windows just freezes at Starting Windows screen, even the logo doesn't show up. So sometimes I use a recovery point and sometimes I have to format and reinstall Windows because all my recover points just disappear, when I use one of the two things I said I'm able to start Windows again but when I shut it down again the problem happens again.

I have been using my WD External Hard Drive in my new Windows 7 desktop. Everything was working fine until this morning, my external HD stopped responding. Everytime I connect external HD to my desktop, I get " You need to format the disk H: before you can use it".
I've tried changing the drive name as well but with no success.

I have an newer HP Netbook running Windows 7. I recently installed Open Office 3.3 on the machine, and it works fine, except for some key sequences. For example, in the OO Writer, the key sequence Ctrl-Home should move the cursor to the top of the doc. This works fine on my older HP XP Pro laptop, but my netbook ignores or doesn't understand it. I have removed OO and reinstalled it, but the problem still occurs. So, I guess I need to figure out if this is a Windows or Open Office issue.

I have a 2 mo. old laptop. Windows 7 doesn't start for 15 min- sometimes less. When it times out it takes the same amount of time to get it back up again. I turn on the laptop, windows screen appears but no icon to open it to the desktop appears for several minutes. This repeats everytime the computer times out and goes into sleep mode. I'm pretty new at this and might be making a mistake somewhere.

Windows 7 doesn't recognize my D partition though windows XP used to recognize it just fine on my computer, and it also used to work fine on that HDD using that same version of windows 7 on my old computer. Whenever I try and access Windows Explorer nothing happens. It lights up for a bit like it has been selected but the window never actually opens. Task Manager indicates that Windows Explorer never actually opened. I need an answer to my problem soon because it is essential that I am able to manage my computers files.

I have files backed up on a WD My Book external hard drive from my XP computer. I plug in the USB in my new HP Touchsmart, it opens the jump drive, but says the folder is empty.I also have files on my PNY jump drive from the XP and another Vista computer. It opens the jump drive and sees the Vista files but not the XP files. The Vista computer sees all files on the WD My Book and the PNY jump drive.
