When I log onto my computer all I see are 2 black blank screens. I need to CTRL ALT DELETE and add new task explorer.exe every time I log on. Is there a way to fix this so I don't have to do this?
So when i got home this afternoon I turned my computer on as usual. However, when it reached the desktop, I got an error message saying that "Windows explorer has crashed blah blah" It couldn't find a solution, restarted and then crashed immediately ad infinitum. This means I can't get into my computer at all to get any logs or anything. I also tried running it in safe mode but my Keyboard doens't appaear to be "active" in the period you need to hit F8
Computer Info: Alienware 14x, win7 premium home 64bit, Intel i7-2720, intel hd3000/ nvidia 555m, 6gigs of ram. Problem: as noted in title my os seems to freeze perhaps it is the windows explorer that is freezing not 100% sure what is actually freezing but the latter of these two choice seem more likely to me based on the freeze seems to happen after I try to open the start menu (sorry for the run on). I have tried a clean bootup with msconfig however the os froze after I loaded a single program or at least nothing loaded after 15min of waiting aside the circle telling me something is 'loading'. In hindsight maybe I should have been more patient, I dunno. Also, during these freezes I have notice keyboard becomes unresponsive Ie ctrl+alt+delete won't work. I have tried using a system restore point but this also did not worked. I have also tired a check disc and that also yielded no results. Also, I have disabled the windows search function if that is relevant.
A windows explorer page is opening whenever my system boots up.I am running Windows 7 Premium Home 64 bit on a Toshiba laptop. This is a recent occurence but I cannot find what is causing this.I have checked the msconfig and nothing seems to be directly causing this.I have also checked the startup folder and the issue does not appear to be there either.
I have a pc running Windows 7 64bit and for a week or two I have been having problems openeing Windows Explorer to view files etc. The first time I tried to open it, it would shutdown saying "Windows Explorer ash stopped working", but then when I tried again it worked. This was annoying but at least I could access my files to copy photos etc.
Today when I try to open it, I get an error saying "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more information"
It comes up with this and then shuts explorer down, and everytime I do this I get the same. I have tried to access it through all the user accounts and get the same thing each time.
I have done a virus/malware check (I used Malwarebytes, AVG, and AdAware) and everything seems ok there, and I did a sfc/scannow (?) and that said everything was ok.
I searched all over the web including this forum and nothing, sfc /scannow didn't work. There has to be some registry key that is missing or i need to modify.
I read in Classic Shell's FAQ that I can add a button for e.g. Agent Ransack to my Windows Explorer toolbar, to do searches. I know how to add that button so that it launches Agent Ransack, but I want Agent Ransack's search location to be the folder in which I clicked the button. I suspect that I need to edit the shortcut properties, but with what?
I can currently right-click any folder and select "Agent Ransack" and it will use that folder as the search location. But I want the ability to click a shortcut while a folder is already open (otherwise I have to go up to the parent folder, and then right-click the folder and select Agent Ransack, and then down into the folder to open it up again).
So ive been getting the black screen with movable cursor lately and have tried many a methods to remove it i tried checking in my event log for something, and this is waht it said "The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:dtsoftbus01" So what does this mean and how can i fix this?
Monday couldn't boot up PC, had to go to system recovery and restore to previous day.
Log files show below that 4 things failed to load. Tuesday couldn't boot up PC again.. tried to restart like 4-5 times.. Finally comes up and in the logs there's numerous things that failed to load. Running a sfc /scannow right now.
I found corrupted system files, but it appears that the hard disk is fine. executed chkdsk and no bad sectors.Just looked into this on event viewer-The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:xsoaynmfmfxpefxbozedltnzvijcvI am running Acer Aspire X3950-U3022 with Windows 7 Home Premium Home Edition.
I'm not sure where to even begin to fix these problems. Some online searches suggested doing a system repair but I want to get some more feedback here before proceeding. Here is the message from the event log:The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
AFD cmdGuard cmdHlp CSC DfsC discache ElbyCDIO
[code]...
I realized some of these are not Windows 7 related but most are. While the computer "works", I do experience frequent reboots and freezes. Perhaps some of these driver loading failures are part of the cause of my issues.
I know this topic is similar to a number of others that have been posted before but i have not been able to successfully apply any of the solutions to the posts i have found addressing this issue.
It began happening after downloading an .mkv file. initially exp crashed and asked to restart. Did so and all good apart from occasional crashing and restarting.
Now turned lap-top on again and it won't even finish restarting before crashing, and this time there is no escaping the loop. Tried a restore from before the file was there but for some reason this didn't make any difference!
Currently in safe mode, have disabled all non ms services and all start-up items using msconfig and restarted normally - didn't change anything.
Ran CCleaner and cleaned out temp files and registry and still no change.
After found this site downloaded and ran SF diag tool as instructed in FAQ and copied all 8 files except Minidump folder which is apparently empty. Remaining files attached.
One person has suggested repairing using Windows Installer dvd this doesn't help me as OS was pre-installed and I don't have a DVD.
I get this message when windows boots. Cannot do anything:The program or feature "??C:WindowsExplorer.EXE" cannot start or run due to incompatibilty with 64-bit versions of Windows. Not sure why all a sudden it is telling me this
I normally use Mozilla Firefox but an upgrade programme I recently downloaded needs IE to install. IE couldn't display the webpage so I downloaded and installed IE9 On running there was a script error. Line 1, Char 1, Error 'Components is undefined', Code 0 and URL chrome://simppulltoolbar/content/lib/external.js. I selected Yes to continue running scripts. Then came this error. IE cannot display the webpage. I selected Diagnose Connection Problems but Troubleshooting couldn't identify the problem.
When I try to start up Internet Explorer I get a blank IE window and a popup message that says "Internet Explorer has stopped working." Firefox works, however, and with the assistance of the IE Tab add-on, I'm able to use the IE engine from within FF.
first time i start my computer each day the " explorer" wont start, (when i right click on a programan) its comes a text "" explorer start on new" THE explorer dont start up on new and the computer laggs... i have WINDOWS 7 home premium and i got a ASUS K53SD. and when the exlorer dont works i logg off from my computer and the screen becames BLACK but the computer is on, i can hear the VENTILITATION.
Whenever I start up my computer, explorer seems to freeze up and I am unable to select anything. The mouse cursor moves fine, and I can highlight over the start button and the icons in "Rocketdock", but I am unable to click anything. The only way to solve this issue is to CTRL-ALT-DEL and cancel (I do not have to go to task manager and/or end processes. I just have to CTRL-ALT-DEL and go back to the desktop).
I've recently installed new hardware, done a fresh install of Windows 7, and have done chkdsk; these did not fix the issue.
about 2 days ago i downloaded and ran a suspicious executable (i know , crappy idea ) dl.dropbox.com/u/63038576/Probtv1.36.exe pretty sure it wasnt a good idea...but now i can only run in safe mode and anytime i try to start windows regularly it will start up but explorer will be really buggy and unresponsive, also upon start up, for some reason it asks me for administrative privlledges to run "GFXCard.exe", i ran it once and it didnt make any difference..what can i do?
When starting Internet Explorer, I keep getting and error message telling me that Windows Installer cannot be accessed. Now I cannot open Outlook, Word, iTunes etc. When I do try to open these programs, I get a message saying "Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Office Small Business 2007", but it doesnt seem to do anything. I've run a diagnostic (F12) and was alerted of the following error :Error Code 0142, Msg Error Code 2000-0142, Status 79. The system is extremely slow and I can only stay logged onto an IE page for a few minutes before it has to shut down. My system just restarted (not sure why) and after the start up I got this error message "An error occurred in the program. Try to open it again. If this problem continues, you'll need to reinstall Microsoft Security Client. Error Code: 0x80040154". I am using Windows 7 Home Premium on a Dell Studio.
When trying to open the Control Panel explorer.exe crashes. In every other situation explorer works normal. Its a dead end cause I cannot remove or add programs from the control panel.I have all latest Windows versions with Windows update and have added XP compatibility mode to Windows 7 (32 bit, pre-installed). SQL Server 2012 is installed including .Net framework - apart from that nothing special. [code]
Over the past couple of days, whenever I open a windows explorer window, it crashes and restarts immediately. I read another forum that told me to copy windows explorer from C:/Windows to C:/Windows/System32. Since windows explorer kept crashing, I tried to boot in safe mode, but it got stuck on the "loading files" screen. I shut it down and tried to boot Ubuntu, but it also got stuck. Now my computer won't boot at all.
When I right-click the Start button and select "Open Windows Explorer", nothing happens.Using the Windows Explorer link in the Start Menu or anywhere else works fine...Where are the settings for that "Open Windows Explorer" option stored?
Restarting pc gives me an error report saying "windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause" this screen appears no matter what I do. 2 options also occur on this screen, 1st being restart windows which returns to the same screen again and 2nd which is to launch startup repair which freezes on a loading screen(I've left it for ~12 hours lol). Tapping f8 opens advanced boot options but safe mode and repair you computer do nothing..as in no options or change in screens after I click..(I can't get to factory restore image)
My laptop recently just will not start from any boot option I select, it always freezes and when click system restore all that loads is a black screen with a cursor, other than that every other option from the boot menus I select fail too.
I'm successfully running Windows 7/8 on the same ssd with two separate partitions. When I turn on my notebook I used to get a nice windows screen asking if I want windows 7 or 8.However, recently the start screen changed to what appears to look like is just a continuation of the bios. What happened to the cool looking screen I initially got when I installed the dual boot? Can I get it back? Other then this little glitch everything is ok.is there an update to the version of windows 8 I downloaded several weeks ago?
01May I replaced the hard drive and re-installed W7 on the new HD. Spent a couple hrs on phone w. MS to get them to reactivate my key. Once installed and activated W7 did the updates I expected it to. But eventually, it gave me error messages on some updates, which I ignored. Over the next 3 days, things would run fine, but the "shutdown" button on the start menu would always tell me it had updates. Each time I shutdown, it would say "Installing 1 of 3 updates". I would restart the comp and get the same update indicator. Eventually I ignored it.Yesterday, 21May, I decided to restart, since it hadn't been done in awhile. It shutdown fine, but when it got to the "starting windows" screen where the colored dots fly in to make the windows logo, it froze w. the red and yellow dots in mid flight. I never saw the other dots, the logo, or anything there after.
I did a hard shutdown, tried to restart, and got a choice to run window repair (recommended) or start normal. "Start normal" freezes at the above mentioned screen w. the dots. The repair option loads files and then freezes at a black screen w. "Microsoft Corporation" and a progress indicator bar that never progresses.I eventually got the comp to boot from the W7 disc and reinstalled W7. Process was smooth, everything was running well. Or so I thought. This system has never woken up from sleep mode, so in the past, I have disabled the function. Last night, I forgot to. Woke up this morning and the comp was asleep. As usual, it would not respond so I had to do a hard shutdown. I now have the same freezing issue I described earlier. Thinking I could just reload W7 again, I booted from the disk. This time it froze at the same screen w. the red and yellow dots and wouldn't progress. It won't let me have the option of reinstalling. Thinking that it might be the HD, I put in the old HD, which I had wiped clean, and it froze at the 2 dots.I put the disc into another comp and it spun up just fine, w.o freezing, so its not the disc.
Summary: Comp freezes at the 2 dot screen on the old HD which is clean, on the new HD, from the boot disc of W7, and from a burned copy of the W7 ISO boot file. Whether I boot from the HD or the discs, I freeze at the 2 dot screen when trying to start W7 normally. When I try to repair, it freezes after loading files. It also freezes while trying to boot in safe mode and from the "last known good config." Microsoft says I probably need to update my Mobo Bios, but I don't know how to do it w.o being in W7.
Mobo: Biostar A880GU3 CPU: AMD Phenom II 965 GPU: ATI HD 5770 PSU: Corsair 750w RAM: 4GB (2x2) DDR 3 HDD: WD 320gb OS: Win 7 Pro 64bit
I tried to install Internet Explorer 9 for testing a website. It prompted me to restart after the install, so I did. It never started back up. Now my computer will not boot into windows except in safe mode and system restore doesn't facilitate at all.
