Windows 7 And IE9 - Loading Sites Remain On Downloading Or Waiting For Long
Aug 28, 2012
I've had IE9 on this Win7 (64-Bit) computer for a few months now and today when I opened IE9 and tried to go to a few sites, it would remain on the "Downloading" or "Waiting.." in the lower left. After about 5 minutes of so, the page would load. Clicking on the "Back" or "X" wouldn't work. I had to Del/Ctrl/Alt to get out of these pages that were not loading (quickly).
I uninstalled IE9 and IE8 seems to be behaving the same way - very slow loading of sites, AOL, etc. I ran full MSE scan and nothing shows. I installed IE9 again and still same "slowness" getting into all sites! Did the "disable add-ons" thing and that didn't work, either. FF runs fine, so I presume it is something in IE9 (and IE8) that is causing this "slowness, slugishness, etc." for pages ot load/show." I tried IE9 64-bit and same problem! If I wait and wait (maybe several minutes) the page will finally show.

If I wait too long (maybe 1-2min) to login on the startup screen, the windows freezes! This never happens if I login right away and almost 100% if I wait.

When attempting to access the web with latestet Firefox, Chrome or IE9, extremly long hangs are encountered with status message "Waiting for google.com..." (or whatever site is entered).Sometimes the hang will resolve in 2 or 3 minutes, sometimes never. When the page is finally loaded if another link on the page is clicked, the same delay occurs: "Waiting for..." and it mosly likely will not resolve/load.On an another PC on the same home network, the same search can be entered (Firefox 7.01) and the page returns nearly instantly. I see "Waiting for..." for a brief instant followd by "Transferring data..." and the page appears. Like it should. The problem PC: one year old home-built PC; Asus P7P55LX mobo, Intel i7-860 cpu, 8g ram, 4tb disk; Windows 7 Ultimate 64b. Many programs installed; over 100 processes running on idle..The working PC: 5 year old Dell Dimension 8400; 4g ram; Windows 7 Pro 32b Was to be used as a database server - few programs installed; few proccesses running. One particular site that is not loading at all, on any browsers on my computer is [URL]. There are many more that fail to load as well. I did test these sites on my iPhone with no problems though. There are a handful of other sites that do open but do not load properly [missing images, ect.] I also thought that it might be malware but I installed & scanned my computer with four different programs which did not solve the problem. I'm guessing that it still may be some problem on the software side with settings but I can't seem to figure out where to look. BTW, I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials as my antivirus program for the past couple of days now. Prior to that I was using Avira but it seemed to be giving me problems so I uninstalled it and installed the Microsoft app.

I have problem with my windows 7. When i try to open a directory on LAN, every now and then it begins to reload the directory. The upper bar begins to fill up with green color (in my theme of course), and it takes very long time, like 3, or 4 minutes. In the directory there is not much stuff, maybe 200 or 300 text files. And during this 3 or 4 minutes, the computer is almost blocked.
It is very slow, the browser can not connect to any site on internet, any programs that are working stalls, or becomes very slow. When the directory is loaded, things return to normal. And what is more, this problem does not occur with every directory on the LAN, only with some of them.
What can be the reason and how can I fix it?

Can't tell if Windows 7 or my RAM, certain programs have been loading REALLY slow. For example, Google chrome that took miliseconds to start up, now takes 10 seconds to actually open, and 2-3 minutes to load the page. Other programs i start up with Google chrome at the same time (because 8 GB ram should be able to handle this...) such as Steam, aim, etc also take a long time to start up. However, this only happens when i open them at the same time i open Google Chrome. Then all of a sudden, the finish loading all at the SAME TIME. Like, I would open Chrome, then Steam, then aim, and they would all be loading, and as soon as Google Chrome finishes its 2-3 minute loading, everything loads at the same time.

Ive been working on the administrator account for more than 2 years, left it as it was yesterday. When I came back my account was assigned with guest authorization instead of administrator's. While I was working on my administrator account I disabled Super Administrator account and therefore now I am unable to log into it. My little brother account is just another guest account. So as far as I know there are two guests accounts somehow, 0 administrator accounts, and 1 super administrator account which is disabled. How can I restore my account to its previous settings?

My cursor wont stay as selected in windows mouse pointer configuration settings. It reverts to a gray box with a black border, blue up-down arrow in the upper right corner, and a portion of a finger in the lower right corner. I can't find a cursor file that is associated with this stubborn cursor, and I need to find out what the file is that is associated with this so I can DELETE it.

I've got two hard drives on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit system. They are drives C: (a solid-state drive) and drive D: (a 500GB WD standard drive). After 30 minutes, drive D: powers down to save energy. I've only got a few video files on it - I use it as a media drive. I'll be using the system just fine. When I open up Windows Explorer, and RIGHT-CLICK on any file on drive C: (the solid-state drive), there is a pause while I have to wait for drive D: to power up, and get up to speed (about 8 seconds). Then, the system responds again. My question: Why is this? I'm not looking at any files on D:, why does Windows need to power it back up at all when I am dealing with drive C:?

Been having some problems with excel getting it to behave like Iwanted, tried google around but so clueless as to what to call things that it makes it hard. What I want is for a cell formula to do as I want when I pull on the lower-right corner down.Normally it the adds 1 to every cell address, but I need some of them to remain the same while others change. More exact:I'm trying to make excelsheet where one collum is supposed to have the formula:
=F3*Dx/D3
x goes from 3 to eternity, while F3 and D3 should remain static while doing that drag thing. I remember there was a way to mark F3 and D3 so they don't change, but can't remember how.So F4 has F3*D4/D3, F5 has F3*D5/D3 and so fourth.

I recently formatted, and since, my pc refuses to remain in Sleep/Hibernation mode. When I select the option in the start menu, my pc does its thing, once it enters sleep/hibernation, it instantly powers back up. I have changed nothing to my pc's hardware since the format, and this issue never occurred before hand.
Some of the things I have tried are making sure the power management setting were correct. I also hard reset my motherboards cmos to manufacturer settings.
The above seemed to make no difference.

I have Windows 7 64 bit and 8 gb ram (the most that the MB will accept. I had a spare 16gb ready boost compatiable USB drive and used it for Ready Boost. Seems a little bit quicker. My question is this: ReabyBoost is addressing 4 GB of the 16gb. I think this is all it is supposed to do. Can I used the remain 12 gb for storage or as a working area for products without compromising Ready boost?

When browsing a website that I have pinned to my taskbar (Facebook for example) I've noticed that the pages take longer than usual to load. When it does load, the page becomes very choppy when I'm scrolling up/down and is generally slow to respond. It's the same for any website I have pinned to my taskbar.
The strange thing is, If I open up IE9 (non-pinned) and browse using the address bar everything is smooth and fast. I've cleared my temp internet files and reset IE to default settings with no luck. I've also tried un-pining then re-pinning website but it's still the same. Is there a way I can clear the cache for individual pinned sites?

I've read all the treads explaining how to delete files waiting to be burned to CD, but my problem is that the folder for these files is empty. Not only that, but the message says that they are waiting to be burned to a CD/DVD reader, not a burner. I suspect that I'll have to edit the registry.
