View 2 RepliesI have a setup with 6 monitors. Today my main monitor broke and I couldn't find a way to shut the PC down since I couldn't access the main desktop to get to the Start menu.Is there a way to change which monitor is the main monitor without having access to the current main monitor?
View 5 Replies View Relatedi use a triple-head configuration with my center monitor specified as primary display. i have made some 3x Wide screen wallpapers, and i set them as the desktop backgrounds. it works fine with one caveat:
the images left most border starts on the center display --the image is triple wide, but the right-most third wraps around the the left display.
any ideas on how to properly center the image? i need the center display to be the primary as certain applications throw a fit when they are run on a non-primary channel.
I have been having a problem with trying to get Multi-Monitor resolutions set up. On XP my monitor setup is capable of 3360 x 1050; with 7 it automatically separates them and sets each resolution to 1680 x 1050, I would like to enable Span-extended desktop and have had no luck, CCC on XP allows this and on 7 the option simply isn't there. I was just wondering if I was overlooking something.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had a 32 bit Vista installed on my machine first. Then I installed Windows 7 on another partition, thinking that I'd have a dual boot set up. But the second OS became the default system to appear after a bootup and the bootup manager did not appear at all.
So I tried creating another partition and installing another OS there -- this time XP. Now XP became the default OS, and bootup manager still did not appear.
Using EasyBCD, I made sure that the other OSes were properly recorded in the bootup manager. They were. But still...the bootup manager did not appear during bootup.
What do you think I should do? Obviously Windows' bootup manager is somehow impaired. Should I try GRUB?
Anyone found a working all in one system monitor gadget?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAny suggestions to deal with multiple monitors in Windows 7? I was using UltraMon in Vista and really liked what it did. With all the changes to the taskbar in 7, UltraMon has lots of issues.
Is there anything new in 7 dealing with the taskbar (across multiple monitors)?
I have a setup with three monitors using the one in the middle as the primary one. It seems that I can't place icons in the lowest row of the primary monitor, as they will snap and jump to the row above it. If there is another icon above it, this icons kinda gets in the way and prevents the problem from occuring. It works fine on my other monitors as there is no taskbar there. For some reason, this behavior only occurs when there is a monitor to the left of the primary one, and I've noticed the same thing in Windows XP. The system seems to adjust the bottom of the icon space to work with the leftmost monitor. Is there any way I can fix this? Adjusting icon spacing won't help. Also, is there any tool to backup and restore my icon layout that works in Windows 7 and not just XP? It gets messed up when i switch from extended desktop to AMD Eyefinity mode and vice versa.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI read recently that upon release, windows 7 will have multi-monitor taskbar support, which I'm very excited about. Is anyone able to confirm this, as it seems that they were already shipping Windows 7 when this news emerged.
If I can pin programs to one monitor or the other, and have 2 "show desktop" buttons, then I'll be a very happy man.
I have a project I'm doing where I have up to 5 monitors. I have a video that I want to play, but I want it to be FULL SCREEN and stretched to every screen. Is there a software that can do this? I know I could just pull the edges of the window to fit, but that will look tacky and is unacceptable.I know there are hardware solutions, but I would prefer software.
I am running a dual monitor setup with my TV hooked up via HDMI to my laptop.
Everything was working fine before, I always had the laptop as my main display yet I could play a video or a game fullscreen on the TV.
Since a couple of days, as soon as I put something in fullscreen, it immediately goes on my laptop, regardless if it's open on my TV or my laptop. I don't remember changing/installing anything that could've changed that...
I checked a bit in the AMD vision software and the Windows control pannel but I can't seem to solve my problem without switching my TV as the main display. I also made a quick search on google as well as here but the problems were mainly with Flash, which isn't in cause here.
Here are my system specs:
Toshiba Satellite L75D
Windows 7 home premium 64-bit
AMD Radeon 6520G
how do i setup home lan gaming for the two computers windows xp and windows 7 i have a switch and internet access note: i cant go online.. cause only one computer can have internet at a time games will be used
-counter strike
-trackmania nations forever
-any other lan games
I am having an issue with my Aurora R4 computer. I am trying to play a game using my monitor, but also to have it show on my HD TV. I have the monitor hooked with a DVI connection and out from the same card to the HDMI in the TV.

I only have 2 x16 slots running dual evga 275 gtx oc on a tyan s2915 motherboard with 16 gb ram, dual quad core 2356s,raid x-25m ssds and three 24 in monitors under windows 7U 64. This is loads better than vista 64 (I can't even talk about it) but it still chokes when the action gets heavy. Obviously this computer is used for manuscript creation-writing model analysis by day but I like to have a little fun at night. Hence I would like to tweak what I can without going to two monitors (can't stand the line in the middle) or going to a new MB.
Graphics card(SAPPHIRE 7950 3GB with Boost) does not indicate any error, it never gets above 50C, there are no artifacts, and it runs smooth as butter when it works(Hitman Absolution and Shogun total war 2).CPU doesn't overheat either, my NH-D14 keeps it(3930k) cool at below 50C at all times.
Fixes already tried:
Changing SATA cable on SSD
Reseating GPU/Power connections
reinstalling drivers/installing new drivers
updating BIOS
underclocking GPU.
There are no bluescreens, error codes, or anything of that sort, it freezes the frame and a loud buzzing comes from the monitor.Games are all installed on the SSD(Intel 520 Cherryville 180GB)Games ran through Steam new build, used less than 5 hours, max. After turning off the computer for a period of time, it'll let me play for 20-ish minutes, but then trying to reboot and play again results in near instant crash(2-5 minutes of play).
How's my setup for moderate gaming, like Mass Effect2, Max payne 3, GTA 4 strategy games like AOE 3? I plan to upgrade my gfx to 9600 Gt later.

Now i want to install general softwares like Office, Adobe Master collection cs5 , Autocad, Coral , Visual studio Java, C, SQl Server, Oracle and the list caries on
I want that i dont have to install these software again and again on every software so that the space is not occupied and i can use same program files folder for each and every OS and time is also saved from installing the software.
For that i have seen some installation copiers (backups) which remain in memory before installation and records the information of registry and system files being copied and records and the can again be copied to the different OS.
Is there any ways to do these which installation copier backup is good for doing this . finding such softwares which can copy or backup installation files registries and i can just use the same installers.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIt may be because there are 3 DVI ports on the one card but Win 7 does not recognise all 3 monitors, only 2.
On the contrary the Nvidia control panel recognises all 3 monitors and I am able to configure all 3 screens with a res of 5760 / 1080. All is fine until I reboot and then nothing. All monitors blank. I can only assume that it's because of a conflict with the Nvidia driver (latest) and windows.
My question is, is it possible to force windows to recognise all 3 monitors?

how can i set up dual monitor display on my imac running window 7 with parallels? I have no problem when I run mac but when I run window, dual display doesn't work. I heard AND radeon has some problem with window 7 display setting.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an ASUS P6T SE motherboard with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 graphics card (512MB) already installed. I would like to connect 3 monitors to my PC but apparently the card only supports two concurrent ones.I use my PC mainly for web design and development, plus recreation such as watching movies, however I don't use it for gaming.Monitor sizes and inputs they support
17 inch: VGA
24 inch monitor: HDMI/VGA
23 inch: DVI/VGA
What is the best option for me to add the 3rd monitor? My main consideration is price, I don't want to spend too much money just for adding another monitor to my setup. My PC runs pretty quietly now and I want it to remain like that, so noisy cards are a big no for me. I've read about USB to DVI adapters but it seems they are not so powerful as proper graphics cards. The other option would be to add another card to my existing one, something basic that can run my third monitor. I'm not sure if this is at all possible, and what cards you suggest. And the 3rd option would be to take out my card and replace it with an ATI card that supports 3 outputs out of the box.
i have:
Windows XP pro (32 bit)
nVida GeForce FX 5200 has VGA;DVI;SVideo
ok heres what i did b4
i had 2 monitors one vga one and one dvi one and i hooked it up and i had i good dual monitor setup but when ever i loaded some programs the would give me a bsod screen and restart for example fsx dark basic and others that change resolution.
now....
i re installed nvida drivers and there updated (i think)
i have the DVI monitor hooked up right now with 1 display only
i have the desktop manager software enabled and running and the Nvida control pannel running.
and what i want to now is that i want to have a horizontal span setup (reason):
ok well i have seen that FSX can run on 2 monitors and that you can have a really cool display with both displaying images can i do this on a dual monitor setup or not or do i need to get a better card (preferably not)?
What to i do now?
ok so do i go to set up multipul monitors and do it that way or is there another way to do it better theres one last question, well i herd from a friend that in the display options like when you right click in the desktop then goto properties then settings. the friend said that there was an option to enable dual monitor support. before i had my setup i did not see that option and neither do i now im guessing that i don't have 2 monitors hooked up now.
I am obsessed about getting this to work so if i am making any of you people here mad i'm sorry and Thank-You for the help that you have given me recently, btw i got my processor to work and i got it hyperthreaded..
I have two monitors, and would like to setup a different wallpaper for each monitor while retaining the expanded screen option. How to go about that? I am using a Radeon 4770 HD if that helps.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up Dual Monitors on my HIS Radeon 4870 1GB GPU. This GPU has 1 x VGA and 1 x DVI output. I have two identical ASUS VW222u monitors. I have installed the latest ATI Catalyst Suite and drivers for this GPU and have Windows 7 up and running with BOTH monitors.
My issue, however, is my primary monitor (DVI output) is running at my ideal resolution of 1680 x 1050, but my second monitor (VGA output) can not run at this resolution. It is only allowing me to choose from a small specific number of resolutions, and 1680 x 1050 is not included (closest is 1600 x 1200, IIRC).
The ATI Catalyst Control Centre is telling me the primary monitor is my ASUS VW222u (Digital), which is correct, but my 2nd monitor is only described as a "Generic Non-PnP CRT Monitor", despite installing the correct monitor drivers etc.
Is this because I am running this second monitor of the VGA output? Will that cause my monitor to not be able to produce my desired 1680 x 1050 resolution? And will running it off the VGA output mean It thinks its a CRT?
On my Windows 7 partition I am unable to use my laptop screen and my 27" LCD Samsung TV as a monitor simultaneously. This was not an issue on my XP partition. I have updated drivers on my video card to no avail.
My TV is connected via a VGA cable. If this cable is connected when I turn my computer on, it will display on the monitor only (but at a much lower resolution than my XP partition allowed) and I am unable to switch back to my laptop monitor without restarting. My display settings wont even recognize that both are connected. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Quite often I find with games on a dual monitor setup is that Id find the cursor is on the other monitor and if I accidentally click there I lose focus of the game and some games wont tab back in.
Is there any way to prevent the cursor going outside the game in fullscreen?
I know some people have been asking questions concerning 3 monitors on Windows 7, but they don't answer the question for me (i think).
My system is an ASUS P7P55D-E Pro, Core i7-860 2.8Ghz and dual GeForce GTX 275 1.7 GB.
I've spent a good couple of hours to get this to work or reading up on it, but I just have a 3rd monitor sitting here.
I tried out Windows 8 for a while. Unfortunately, many of the video games I play crashed a lot, and well, to make a short story short, I have reinstalled Windows 7. One of the features I really liked in Windows 8 is that with a dual monitor set up, my desktop backgrounds not only rotated, but were not synchronized like in Windows 7. For instance, I could have a Battlefield 3 background on one, and a Company of Heroes background on the other... while on Windows 7, if I have Battlefield 3 on one, it will be the same thing on the other display. I can't seem to work out an option to have different "unsynchronized" desktops rotating..

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am planning on buying a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) so I can run DX 10 and 11 and install more memory in my computer.
I currently have two hard drives installed on my computer,
(1) a 160 GB (split into 3 partitions) with Windows XP (32-bit) installed on one of those partitions
(2) a new 640 GB with only a few files on it that can be deleted.
I want to be able to have the option of starting up in either XP or 7.
My question is this: if I install 7 on the new HD, will I still be able to see that Hard Drive's space in XP (and vice versa with 7)? Will I still be able to install and run programs from both drives in both OS's? Will installing an OS in the second drive restrict the use of the space on that drive by other OS's?
I would assume that it should work fine, but I wanted to find out if anybody has had problems with this before I go and spend $100.
