When opening pictures from a camera, I get that blasted viewer thing - it is impossible to make it use a photo program, until I copy the picture to the hard disk. Surely the camera is simply a USB memory stick when plugged in?
If i receive a .ppt e-mail attachment, I cannot open it directly, but when I go into explorer file associations, all Powerpoint extensions are properly associated with Windows Power Point Viewer. If I go into Control Panel Default Programs,Powerpoint viewer is not even on the list.I can work around it by saving the attachment into a new folder, then opening Power Point Viewer, then opening the the saved file.I am using Microsoft Office Starter Edition. Is that the problem? I can download and install a new Powerpoint Viewer, but I hate to clutter up my computer when I already have the right program on hand
I wanted to open an excel file directly from IE9, but when I double click the excel file in the browser, it opens right in IE instead of Excel program. How do I make the file use Excel program to open rather than open in IE itself? I am using Windows 7 and Office 2010. I tried the Microsoft registry fix but still it doesn't work. And the folder options in Windows 7 doesn't have the "Advanced" option.
When I had XP I would put the SD card in the card reader and a "wizard" would open in which I could choose which pics I wanted to put in a folder and label them. In Windows 7 when I put the card in the reader it seems I can label them and put them in a folder but there is no way to choose which ones go where.
I can view all the pictures when the memory card inserted to computer but when i insert it to my camera i cant view it . it says "card error" but when i remove to my camera it run. I cant see the folder named DCIM.
I have official Windows 7 installed (Home Premium). Anytime I insert my SD card from my digital camera, it asks to import new pictures. I click yes and the problem is that it imports the pictures, labeling the folder by date - one day ahead of the actual photos' dates. Example:
October 24th pics are being organized in 2009-10-25 folder instead of 2009-10-24. Same thing happened the past 2 days I imported pictures. Odd enough, I just reloaded Windows 7 a few days ago and it started happening after the reload. Prior to the reload it used to work perfectly fine, organizing by proper date of actual photos. The photos are indeed the 24th, not 25th and same for prior imported pictures.
Here's the weird thing, in Pictures library the photos are organized correctly by date (month). But, in the users/pictures folder via C: folder it is messing up
I have a new computer (Asus K53E) with Win 7 x64 - My camera is a Canon SD 750, and I'd like to use Photo Scape to work with my pics, not the Canon browser or the Windows Photo Gallery. So I've set my photos to import via Windows in Auto Play, and to auto delete afterward. The problem I'm seeing is that once the photos are imported into my computer and deleted from the camera, the little Windows pop up box that notifies me of the deleting process stays on the screen - it will not disappear until I either use Task Manager to stop it, or I reboot the computer. I really would like to continue using the simple and effective Windows process to import my camera's pics, and to continue using Photo Scape as my photo browser/editor.
While shooting a wedding, my 5Dmark II showed an error and locked up. I turned off the camera and turned it back on. I took one more picture and it locked up again. I turned it off and replaced the card, with no further issues. When I tried to download pictures in error card, nothing showed on the computer. The computer is asking me to formatt the card again. I have never had any problems with the Lexar Plat II 80x cards before. What can I do to recover my photo?
I've got an odd problem on my windows 7 desktop. I noticed 2 days ago that the profile picture on the login screen was missing, I honestly didn't think much of it.
Last night I went to open a jpg that was on my desktop and received an error that stated:
"windows photo viewer can't open this picture because the file appears to be damaged or corrupted or too large" I checked a few other pictures with various extensions (bmps, pngs) and they ALL give me the same error.
I tried opening the pictures with gimp and paint, no good. I even sent a jpg to my gmail to test if it was some really odd and random issue with my system. Gmail just gives me a red x when I go to view the attached picture.
I find it very hard to beleive that every single picture on my system has magically been corrupted over night. I've tried researching this issue on my own and to be honest, I'm just not really getting anywhere. The system seems to be stable otherwise.

My computer suddenly tells me it can't open my pictures on one of my user accounts by asking what file do I want to use to open it or to go online to search for an opening file. I tried to start a new user account, and I'm told I need to tell what file I want to use to complete and open this account.

They were working then I rebooted the pc today and went to click on computer and nothing happens, the only thing is the little folder icon comes on the taskbar and that's it, it doesn't open. Also all of a sudden my events viewer doesn't work either, get this error, specified query is invalid 15001BTW system restore wasn't on, I guess when I fixed my booting problem it turned it off, the only drives that had restore enabled where my other 2 drives not the one I needed.
I think I might have picked up a virus. Anyway, after avoiding a crash , when going into my documents and then opening my pictures, there are no folders. But, when check "my pictures" properties, it list that I have 5,032 files using 6.32 gb. I tried to restore to different dates without any luck. I have also look at making sure it is not hidden
I imported my photos from my SDCard to my PC using Picasa 3, and everything was going smoothly... until I tried to take a look at the photos! all of the photos that I've imported using this method for some reason all became greyed out! Viewing them on Picasa3, all you can see is a grey rectangle, in place of the photos. However, when using the windows explorer folder, i can see that the photos were imported correctly (it's not just a grey box, but the actual photos), but when I try to open it (using any program: Paint, Picasa3, etc), it is still a grey rectangle instead of the photos. I tried to upload the image and send it via email, and I get the same result. In my mistake, I chose to "delete the uploaded photos after uploading" option..it's my vacation photos from Croatia I'm not sure if there were any errors when I imported it... i stepped out for a bit while I was waiting for it to import. I looked around my SD card, and looked at the "Lost.dir" folder, and copied all of what's in there.I did use Glarysoft to recover the images, and I'm using a Windows 7 laptop as my computer. Also, are there other alternatives? I did save the lost.dir with all of the photo files in it, both in my SD Card, and on my laptop.
i just asking some question about my webcam in my net book laptop.i open my webcam in my menu, but the system sending a message that '' no camera or webcam found''. but when i use the yahoo messenger webcam its working.i dont know how to open it again in the menu bar.
Using windows backup, how can I back up directly to another drive WITHOUT creating the large "backup file" and then using restore on the file? I could copy the files over to another drive, but I want to retain the date modified/created data and copying over would just make a new copy and use the current date. I was thinking of cloning the disk but doesn't that clone the fragmentation and stuff as well?
i wish to be able to connect directly to another computer without using the net, a way to do it that will not use any of my download data or the data of anyone else, like putting in an IP and connecting so that we may share files?
