my laptop vaio vpceb1sfx always restarts again and again. i have to preess enter key all the time to make the windows sarts but when it does start i can not drag and grab my files?
View 1 RepliesMy PC boots up, loads up my desktop and all my startup programs and then my monitor goes black, sometimes it restarts immediately, sometimes my monitor will be stuck in sleep mode while my pc is still on. This has been happening a couple of weeks now. I've check all over and so far the only "solution" is to turn off the power and remove the power cable from the tower for a few minutes, this only works temporarily, the next day I power it up, it had this problem again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy brand new computer I just built is crashing and restarting without a reason I can find. My System health report won't be very accurate because I need to run OCCT stress test in the background to slow down the amount of times it crashes.
I have run memtest for 12 hours - No errors.
My CPU is cooled by a H100 - temps never go above 40c even under load.
CPU - i5 - 2500k
MOBO - Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3
PSU - Antec 750w
Even on a fresh install it will crash during the setup phase, like where you put in product code and username. Leading me to think its a Hardware issue.
Ever since I bought my new computer and installed Windows 7 64 bit Pro I have noticed that sometimes when I start my computer the startup locks up or crashes, requiring me to restart or it takes me to the system repair screen and running this process does nothing.
View 9 Replies View Relatedi used to get the BSOD very often so i decided to recover the system to the initial state . i did that and everything was fine , then i updated the windows 7 service pack 1 and finished the installation and rebooted my computer , the start-up at least took half an hour at that time and the service pack 1 installation showed "not successful " i tried to again to update the service pack1 which showed 73.6mb - 892.6mb so i updated it again and again the same thing happened.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron and a while ago I shut down my PC and the next morning I was faced with options to repair my computer. It hung on the screen for ages before it actually came up with startup repair and supposedly fixed the problem. A few days later, everything got very slow and started to freeze a lot and before long, booting the computer got very slow as well as it hung for about ten minutes on a black screen after the 'welcome' screen before finally starting up. I decided to reinstall the operating system (I did NOT reformat the C drive), so I borrowed my Grandma's external hard drive and copied my files. After reinstalling using a Dell Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium Re-Installation DVD, I copied and deleted the files off the external hard drive onto my PC (I didn't know it would create a Windows.old folder) and started installing programs. Then I left it overnight to install quite a big program. This morning, somehow it had turned off. I turned it on and it gave me the safe mode options and a 'start windows normally' option. I chose the latter and after typing my password it hung on the welcome screen again. I left it for ages and it just went back to the user login screen again. I pressed the red button in the corner to shut it down but it just hung once again on an empty screen so I did a hard shutdown (held down the power button). I turned it on again...startup repair. It gave me the option for system restore, which I did (then realising when it finished that I hadn't made a backup). I booted it, and again it wouldn't start properly. At this time, safe mode booted fine. After trying various things (even using a compressed air can to get rid of dust) and a few hard shutdowns, suddenly every option from the advanced boot menu took me to startup repair except 'Repair your Computer' which gave the normal options for repair (although now it only gives me 2, Startup Repair and DataSafe Restore and Emergency Backup. Now when I do startup repair, some times it says it has fixed the problem, and sometimes it says it cannot be fixed automatically and gives me information on the problem (a few things it said were: 'StartupRepairOffline', 'AutoFailover' and 'CorruptRegistry').
I can't reinstall my computer because then I would lose my precious files.
Is there some way I can save my files and reinstall or even just save my files somehow or am I screwed?

My hp dv3t has been giving a message about checking a disk for consistency every time I reboot(ed) for about a week now, but today it froze after the countdown reaches zero (for bypassing the procedure)�nothing I do can get it past this step. It never crashed when playing games (Crysis, BF3, etc).I have Windows 7 x64 the computer has a little more than 2 years. I am not sure what's the age of the OS installation but I would say that it has around 6 mounths.

My issue now is that now my PC is restarting itself, sometime it lets me get to the desktop but now its just restarting when it get to the "starting windows" screen. I was able to get into the PC today again and it gave me time to go into windows and grab the "minidump" file.

Showed up the menu that normally shows up when you install a new windows, then it deleted my files, and I set the time and that stuff and the computer restarted. This has been going on generally for months.
This is a new computer that was bought in the end of September and it came with this problem when I bought it.
Was bought with windows xp, which was upgraded to vista and then to windows 7.
None of the operating system upgrades helped, but for a few months changing the graphics card did.
A few weeks back the restarts started again and just changing the graphic card this time didn't help. It went as bad as restarting once per minute. PER MINUTE.
The automatic restarts have been turned off.
This computer has been to the repairs more then my old one did in 5 years.
The next thing we will change is the motherboard.
Computer hasn't restarted in a hour so far, but each time I try to call someone on skype it ...lets me be on the call for a few minutes... and then restarts.
It restarts when I try to play world of warcraft, movies and what not. It sounds like the graphic card, but it's not. That's just today.
It started all over again a few weeks ago, then my dear repair guy reinstalled some drivers and it worked for a week. System restores don't work, but it doesn't make me stop trying.
I have ran every possible virus scan I can think of.
Reinstalled every program.
All kinds of system repairs.
I'm down to thinking it's either the power or system updates.
This is a rain of terror and It doesn't have a pattern.

Clicking on the Administrator gives me a desktop with an on-screen keyboard; the computer keyboard disabled, and a panel saying,"FAILED, The application has failed to start." Going back and clicking on the Standard User icon gets me running for the most part. Here's the BIG problem. Every time I try to install any program, the User Account Control box drops down and asks for the Administrator Password, plus the question,"Do you want to allow the following programs to make changes to your computer?" You click "Yes", but, since no one is in the Administrator office, your installation comes to a halt. This blocks "Install" and "Uninstall". I get lots of messages I need Adobe Flash Player. I've trie over and again to install it, going to Windows 32 bit, but can't uninstall my previous tries. It will always download, and that's all. I've tried to install my digital camera's CD, but can't.

View 7 Replies View RelatedEverytime I switch on my Acer 5740 Laptop, after it reaches the POST screen displaying the Acer logo and Setup (F2) and Boot Selection Menu (F12) the laptop restarts over and over again and never stops. It has only been doing this since i installed a new program, after i installed it a blue screen appeared saying "STOP", and a bunch of other text but I couldnt make out what it said as the screen disappeared so fast. It is probably the work of a virus of some sort.I have already tried to boot from my recovery discs, but after the restoring the OS to factory settings, the same restart loop happens again. I cannot even access safe mode as it immediately restarts after displaying the acer logo. But I am however able to access the BIOS setup (f2) and the boot selection menu (f12). A laptop of mine contracted a virus, and installed a fake antivirus program. I was able to uninstall the fake antivirus, but now I have another problem. Every time I turn on / restart the laptop, I get the message "Windows has encountered a critical problem and will restart automatically in one minute, please save your work now". The laptop then restarts, ad infinitum. Now, having done a quick google search, I see lots of reccommendations involving either going into Safe Mode or using the Advanced Boot Options. Problem is, I can't get the F8 menu screen to come up on the problem laptop. I have another laptop of the exact same model - this one is uninfected and I can get the F8 menu up just fine, so it's nothing to do with me mis-timing pushing the button. I have tried going into Safe Mode via the Boot options in msconfig, but alas I get the same error message in Safe Mode, too, and again my computer is forced to restart.

It wouldn't boot from the CD to install for some strange reason so I put the hard drive in my computer and installed it from there. After it installed, I put the HDD back into the old computer and tried to boot it. Everything works fine until it says "Starting Windows". After displaying that message for about 5 seconds it restarts and brings up the choice: Run diagnostics (recommended)Start Windows normally If I choose to start normally, the same thing happens and it restarts again. If I run diagnostics it says the issue cannot be automatically repaired.The strange thing is that it will boot perfectly fine on my computer (if I put the HDD in), but cannot boot on the old one. Also, the same Windows 7 works on my computer.
