Why "Windows Explorer is restarting" from time to time? What seems to be the problem?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently experiencing consistent restarting of Windows Explorer on my PC. To find out the error which is causing this, I need to access task manager, which is also unavailable (greyed out when I right click on the task bar). By accessing the task manager, I hoped to stop the windows explorer process.

View 3 Replies View Related[code] I've newly installed Windows 7 and updated SP1 and other updates via windows update. Everything was working find until the explorer restarted and continued. I restarted PC to see if it will be solved but didn't. I've tried restarting with various services other than that of Microsoft disabled and even unistalled some programs like Norton 360 but didn't solve the problem. The explorer.exe keeps on restarting again and again. However, no such problem exits while running in safe mode. Reinstalling windows is my last option.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI upgraded from Vista to 7 back in September & other than the *random & occasional* crash of Windows Explorer, & I've been very happy with 7. Until last night.I was in the middle of (trying to) clean up & organize my video folders. Everything was going pretty smoothly until I tried to cut an .mkv & paste it to my desktop temporarily. As soon as I right-clicked on the file, Windows Explorer crashed. That was the first time it had happened in a week or so. After everything restarted, I tried again & I was able to cut & paste the mkv.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm new here and I've been having some problems with explorer crashing. I've searched all over the net including various forums and while I've found cases similar to mine none of them are quite like it. For instance, explorer will crash and ask for me to restart it randomly. It's not the right-click crash like some have had, I've checked my registry for a machine throttling string that caused some people crashes, but mine will just happen out of the blue, usually (but not always) when I have an explorer window open. The crash itself doesn't effect much. All my programs will continue to run as normal so it's not a huge deal, it's just annoying as it will happen sporadically throughout the day. I've ran various spyware, malware, and virus scans all to no avail and I've even used a registry cleaner. I've also tried running sfc /scannow in the command prompt as an administrator. I've rebooted several times since and it still happens. I can't reproduce it, it just happens out of nowhere, but here's the error.

My Windows Explorer keeps crashing and restarting. When I checked the Event Log, it has apparently been doing this randomly since I had the software installed (replacing my Windows XP) 10 months ago. However, it is happening more frequently now. For the most part, the errors all refer to a 'timeout' when waiting for a response from different services. Latest error: A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the SftService service.

I've been running this system just fine until recently when this problem with the right-click menu started. Actually, it is a problem specific to the "New" portion of the right-click menu in Windows Explorer. I can right-click a blank portion of an Explorer window and I get the usual instant pop-out menu; but, if I click "New", it takes a full ten seconds to respond. For ten seconds, it is as though I didn't click at all, then the "New" nested menu appears and everything works as normal. If I impatiently click several times in a row during that ten seconds (on "New"), everything grays for the rest of the ten seconds, then the Windows Desktop redraws completely and I have to start over again trying to use the "New" menu.
Using an HP G42 laptop with Windows 7 Home Basic OS.
Around 15 seconds after booting into Windows, a window pops up 'windows explorer has stopped working..windows is checking for a solution to the problem...'
After a couple of seconds, a window pops up saying Windows Explorer is starting, and then the previous windows pops up again.
I can't access any other programs when this happens. I've tried running in safe mode, and this issue doesn't come up. If done checkdisk, but this hasn't resolved the issue.
am using windows 7 but from today evening onwards, my computer has gone into a loop where it keeps restarting explorer time and again. And am not able to do anything. This problem is present even in safe mode.I tried fixing it by deselecting all the startup user application after using msconfig cmd.in safe mode.I saw a pattern in the startup bar that every time explorer restarts it tries to open network connections. hence i disabled all network services but again same story.

I recently re-installed Windows 7 from some rescue disks, and everything, with the exception of Internet Explorer is now running fine! Basically whenever I load a web page in IE it crashes after a short time (5 - 10 seconds), and I then have to exit with CTRL + SHIFT + ESC (Task Manager)! Inside task manager I actually have to terminate the IE processes, as IE won't exit if I attempt to shut down through the Applications tab.
Initially IE8 was installed from the rescue disks, and I have since upgraded to IE9, but both versions are behaving just as badly as each other.
I have even tried to start IE in "No-Add Ons" mode from the "Accessories" menu - however after a short time it still crashes. Now I have no add ons enabled, I have deleted everything (in IE history), scanned for viruses (there are none), and I am wondering if there is some way of repairing IE?
P.S.: I have installed other browsers, but I actually need IE for running some Microsoft Online Services, all other browsers are only supported in "lite" mode!!!
just got myself a new laptop and windows explorer is constantly crashing/restarting when I browse or use the explorer in any way. Examples are when I browse around, click save as (which crashes also the program, a big issue for me) or even when I installed the windows SDK just now it crashed 5 times during the installation.I searched around a little, but so far no luck. My com is running on Windows 7 Home Premium 32bit, and one day I was starting up the com and it took really long to take me to the home screen, so I forced shut down it when the screen was still black (used a no GUI boot). After the restart the message explorer.exe is not responding and it keeps repeating. I've read some other solutions like running the sfc (did it twice) or copy-and-pasting explorer.exe from windows folder to system32 folder all didn't help.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows 7. After "exactly 60 seconds", when I search using Windows Explorer search box, I get the following message: "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."How do I change search settings so that it will not terminate after 60 seconds? To correct this problem I have tried the following. I did a clean boot even excluding windows programs and the problem was still there. I have installed all the latest Windows 7 updates. I also tried sfc /scannow and I turned off MS security software and firewall all to no avail.

i suspect this has started after i've updated all the drivers from manufacturer's site, but i am not 100% sure. anyway, i do not know which driver has caused this and i cannot easily restore to the previous state.
I have a month-old Dell Inspiron N7010 Core i5 460M with 6 gigs of ram running on Windows 7. Until recently, it has been starting up in about 75 seconds. However, out of nowhere, it suddenly began starting up in between 2 and a half minutes to 3 minutes. I am completely baffled, and I do not know what is wrong. Could it have been something I installed, or is it something that is beyond my knowledge. The last things I downloaded before the problems started were Starcraft II, Need for Speed World, and Microsoft Security Essentials, but I doubt one of those is the source of problem.

if anybody can help i would be grateful.... and yea i think (but im not 100% sure) the longer the pc is up and running the more often it will happen... and it happens while im watching Internet most of the time (or any streams). it doesn't happen while i'm playing any video games or anything like that (maybe it does but it is rare).... and it can happen while im on desktop just copying some files any that.
So lately I've been getting lag spikes every 30 seconds or so. They last no more than 1 or 2 seconds, but they are incredibly annoying. For example, I will be typing, scrolling, clicking something, or watching something and it will completely freeze for 1 or 2 seconds, then suddenly jump to where the screen is supposed to be (like to the tab that SHOULD be showing if I clicked on a different tab during the lag spike) [code] Everything was fine. One day I restarted my PC (I usually set it to sleep at night, but this time I had to restart) and after that I noticed the lag spikes. The only significant thing between then and now is probably reinstalling TESIV Oblivion but I do not see that being an issue. These lag spikes are not related to my web browser, as they happen even when I do not use the internet. However I DO NOT GET ANY LAG SPIKES WHILE I AM PLAYING A GAME. When my PC is dedicated to running a game I do not get any lag spikes at all. They only happen on the desktop / internet.
