I have read in other threads the function of CONHOST.EXE process in Windows 7 (the legit process located in SYSTEM32 folder).But I wonder why in my pc this process appears only when I use the Tor Browser, and not when I use the stardard Firefox browser or in any other situation.
View 2 RepliesIn the last 2 days when I start my Win 7 Pro x64 PC I have a problem. After the Welcome screen goes I get a blue screen (Not BSOD) with my cursor in the centre and my Windows 7 title in the bottom right-hand corner. This lasts for about 90 seconds then Windows starts up. I pressed Control, Alt and Delete whilst the blue screen was up and selected Task Manager. The only Process running was System Idle Process. I thgought it was only supposed to run when the system was idle not starting up. I know Windows will not allow you to stop the process but what is causing it to run. My computer is normally a fast start-up - about 32 seconds, but suddenly this. What have I done to my dream machine (12 gb of Ram, 5 hard-drives)?

I insert the cd and winsows media player will find it and download all the cd information and list it ok. It then starts the ripping process by listing all the tracks as pending, but will not rip anything. You can hear the cd head tracking but nothing else. The same happens in itunes.I have another pc with XP as the OS and the cd will rip ok on that version of media player

I open a text file I want to edit, then go to save my changes and I get this error:"The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process".I have full admin rights, running Win7 Ultimate x64 SP1. From a bit of research I have seen where many others have been experiencing this problem or something similar too. The only "fix" (that doesn't work all the time) is to close explorer.exe and then restart it to "release the handle"? Anyway, this is not acceptable for all the money and time I spent upgrading/configuring this new OS from XP -where I never had this problem- and seriously cuts down my productivity.Has Microsoft even acknowledged this as a bug yet? I can duplicate this scenario the second or third time I try to edit/save/delete a text file and I know that explorer.exe is the problem or a big part of it in any case. I don't want to go back to XP x64 but having to deal with this headache 10-20 times a day is just too much to ask.The file here is a game's map script & has to be saved to a .pk3 and then loaded into the program's root before it can run so i know othing else is running the file. No apps running in taskmngr either.
View 13 Replies View RelatedNew dell n7110/win7sp1x64.At startup on new machine from dell, process explorer (procexp64.exe) lists 81 processes running (seems like way too many - compared to xp with maybe 25 at startup). But which processes I can turn off is a question for another day. OK, read carefully, at least 15 processes in PE show " Path: error opening process". PID, CPU, Private Bytes, and working set columns are shown for these "problem" processes, but nothing after that, ie, description, company name etc. For all other listed running processes (with known paths), all info is shown in all columns. The problem processes include some important ones, services, crss, ism, wininit, winlogon, that must to be working for the computer to work, and everything seems to be working properly, and no cpu spikes or other weird stuff is happening. Right clicking properties on these problem processes, properties window pops up as normal, but shows "version: n/a, build: n/a, path: error opening process, no command line, no current directory, autostart location: n/a, Parent: non existent process (708), user: access denied. Again, this info can not be correct since the computer is working. And then, after a few minutes, another window pops up and says PE has stopped working, and closes the program. Now, if this was the whole story, I would go to sysinternals with this, but read on... Task manager running simultaneously with PE lists 83 processes running, more processes than PE, and also ~5 different processes than PE, and PE lists some processes running that TM doesn't list. So PE and TM show different running processes at the same time. How can that be? For the processes that PE shows "error opening", e.g., crss, etc., when I click properties in TM for the same process, sometimes I get the usual/normal pop-up window listing the path, and all the other data as normal, suggesting the process is working properly. But sometimes when I click properties in TM for the processes that PE shows "error opening", I get no pop-up at all, nothing for that process. So, IMO, it's not just a PE glitch, something is actually wrong here. This is a new machine, with PE the only 3rd party installation. I have installed several dell driver updates, but this problem occurred before I installed them. Also, remember PE and TM simultaneously list some different running processes and TM also fails to show paths, etc.

View 9 Replies View RelatedSo , when i turn off PC for a first time of a day , pc always take some time before starts. i turn it on and nothing loads up on screen for about half minute , then pc work like normal , windows start and i enter my desktop.btw PC is not new, im not sure if was like that before, cause it was my brothers PC. I know that he spilt cola for about 1 month ago. It was just little , and it comes on graphic card. But like i said so long PC running perfectly except that start litte late. Could it be graphic card ? Games works perfect and everything else like i said. Also pc have hdd like 5 years old.Also i reinstalled windows , but still the same. Should i be worried about this

The programs that start with the OS are KAV 6 and Internet Download Manager. So it should not be consuming that amount of memory. I canīt buy more RAM in this moment, so what can i do?

We recently located our home computers, modem and router to another room. I reconnected everything with the same cables, and it came on fine. After an automatic Systems Update it did not come back on, and now when I try to boot from either the Boot Manager or Advanced Boot Screen, at every option it loads files and then, before or during the time when the lights and logo start to appear, it turns off. I do not have the recovery disk, and in any case my DVD-RW has not worked for about a year.
I have a new DVD-RW which I am going to install, but I am uncertain if that will solve the problem. Is there any way to get to a Command prompt without Windows booting up, and at least access the hard drive that way, or am I up the well known tributary with inadequate means of propulsion?
I obviously have a problem with Windows 7. My computer worked fine until yesterday evening when suddenly Windows stuck. It looks like my disk is working (or trying to work) constantly. I am only able to use my computer normally every 5 minutes (and just for 20 seconds). Only the mouse works all the time. When I start the task manager nothing looks wrong.Everything works well in safe mode (I am currently using it) so I am a bit confused. Could it be an issue with the hardware?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to run memtest 86+ because I suspect I'm having a RAM issue - was getting lots of BSODs and now I am unable to reinstall windows (currently using ubuntu). I have made a bootable dvd with memtest86+ on it and a bootable usb as well as the built in memtest that is built into the linux grub bootloader. When I boot from any of these devices, the memtest screen (blue, with some writing - I recognize it from screenshots of the program) will pop up for about half a second, then it goes away and my computer restarts. This happens in an endless cycle until I turn the computer off or take the disk/usb out.

Then It worked..But i have noticed another problem. my laptop freezes about 2 seconds then Starts up Again.. then freezes and un froze again... Then I am hearing some clicking sound on my disk drive on the right.(where I put DVD/CD's). And my laptop is 1 Year and 1 Month old, I haven't cleaned the fan. I think it has so many dust/oil in it that may also cause's my laptop to freeze from time to time. Then after about 10 minutes the Blue Screen of Death Appears!. It's so frustrating. When ever you click on a file it turns on internet exp Downloader and trys to download the file. Keyword trys, nothing happens. It does that with everything in the start menu. The only place it won't do it is if I go in to the " C" Drive and go all program files, and go to the place the file is saved on the hard drive then I can turn it on. I can redrag the items to the desktop and make it work. But I'm not sure how the connection lost happended.
