I am going to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium on my PC and was about to download the latest ISO-file from Digital River when I found that there seems to be TWO different versions. One is called: Windows 7 Professional SP1-U ISO and the 64-bit Swedish filename is: X17-59273.iso.However there is also a Windows 7 Professional N SP1-U ISO (Note: N editions come without media components) with the Swedish file name: X17-59424.iso.So what does this "N" after "Professional" mean? That is, what does it mean that the edition comes "without media components"??As I am going to download the ISO-file and then boot from an USB-stick, which one should I choose? And I guess that, even if the ISO file is labeled as a Windows 7 Professional, I will be able to choose Windows 7 home Premium 64-bit during the installation process, right?
I cant open the window to choose the files to upload to a website;I Cant open that same windo to choose the fileto open with a program (ex: im on paint and i cant open the "choose a file" window to open and edit a photo)and i cant open that same window in any other program :that started to happen after a registry defrag/cleaning, any sugestion?
I know there is a setting to choose or not to choose specific countries, but I don't know how.(Yes, Europe is not as free as you think and you need to change your identity to view what third world countries can view!)
I believe the location is causing crashes, since I blew up lots of Library registry values (in an attempt to remove them from the OS), and I think it defaults to the library page.
eg, 2shared - file upload and sharing [edit: stupid editor auto href'd the text... bah]
crashes IE and Firefox (not Chrome for some reason... possibly because it uses its own code?) when I click the browse button (same for any "browse" button that spawns a native find-your-file thing).
It may be something else, but anyway...
edit: If I disable "Expand to Current Folder" in Win Explorer, the crash does not occur. So perhaps it is trying to expand to a folder that is broken? I want to keep "Expand to Current Folder" on, though, as I like the feature.
i need urgent assistance to be able to download from the internet again as it shows I cant download anything from internet. It is showing choose an application to download file.
Does anyone know of a software available that lets you reboot from Windows and choose another OS besides the auto default, in a multiboot scenario?
I need something like this because I Dameware into my other computer a lot and would like to be able to get it to boot to another OS than default, remotely.
I guess I could use EasyBCD to change the default OS when I want to reboot but hoping to do this without editing bcd.
I have a new PC with 8GB of RAM, so obviously want to install Windows 7 64 bit. I have Windows 7 DVD. It is saying in many places that at installation it will allow you to chose between 64 bit and 32 bit versions, however I am not given any choice at the application(unless I am doing something wrong) and it just installs 32 bit version
I have windows 7 installed on laptop, i had to install XP on a partition in order to do something i cant in w7, now xp starts..I used to know of a program that could be run from within windows that would let you add OS's to the boot menu and choose a default but i cant remember its name, it was dead simple to use other stuff I see is more complicated, i just want to use that simple little program.
is there a way to have windows put the boot loader on a drive of your choosing? I have 2 HDDs in my computer and from what I can tell windows put its boot loader on my other drive. is there a way (other then disconnecting the other one) to get windows to put the boot loader on the other drive like change priority in the BIOs?
I asked their support the following: I want to take my Windows 7 Professional system and all installed applications and suites (Office 2010 H&S and CorelDRAW X5 included) all legit, registered, activated, updated, etc. and copy them so I can upgrade from a 5400 RPM hard disk to a new 7200 RPM hard disk in the same system. Can this program do all that, saving me the hassle of reinstalling, activating, registering, etc. the OS and applications and suites?Their answer: Yes, that's exactely (sic) what the software is for and what its same says (sic). You can copy your entire drive with your OS, programs and personal data. But today I went to their site again and found they have another app called Paragon Migrate OS to SSD 2.0, of which they say: Ready to upgrade to a new Solid State Drive (SSD)? Paragons Migrate OS to SSD is just what you need. Our handy intuitive wizard performs fast and safe Windows migrations to new storage devices (HDD or SSD) and even downsizes to smaller capacity drives. You can transfer a live system with no impact to your work, and have your partitions automatically aligned in the process if needed. Note that they say "migrations to new storage devices (HDD or SSD)".
My questions are:
- Does anyone here have experience with one of these apps or both?
- Considering my needs, is it OK if I purchase the less costly Migrate OS to SSD (but use it to copy to a new HD)?
I am setting up my new PC right now and I have been given the option to choose a 'keyboard layout'I speak English, I'm American, and I'm right-handed.I don't know the differences between the layouts. So my new computer game with a VCO GEFORCE 9800GT 512MB PCIE
The way that computers work in my house, since I work from home and need my computer to work on, whenever it comes time for either my boyfriend or I to get a new computer, I always get the new one and he gets whatever machine I had, which is always better than whatever he currently has. – As such I was going to take this VCO GEFORCE 9800GT 512MB PCIE out of my new computer and put it in his to upgrade the video card in that machine. But when looking at new video cards I have a few questions.
Would I be better off keeping the VCO GEFORCE 9800GT 512MB PCIE in my machine and getting another one to run on another PCIE slot? The games I mainly play are Guild Wars, Second Life and the Sims3, though I do know that Second Life doesn’t support SLi and that’s what I play the most, so I assume running two cards would be useless there. Also I have never heard of VCO before, is that a common brand?
I’m looking for something in the $130-$170 range and was thinking about one of these cards.

will i have to go digging in the registry? I'd llike the standard windows fax and scan program when i click the hardware button on my scanner not photoshop, that feels like overkill for regular documents.
I've read some threads about people installing windows 7 onto a new SSD, but no one seems to be running into the exact same problem as me.
My situation: I've got windows xp running right now on my old HDD. Been using it for years. I got a new SSD for christmas and a copy of windows 7. I've already put World of Warcraft on my SSD and have the SSD set as the D drive in dynamic configuration (i'm not exactly sure what that means).
I put in the windows 7 installation disk, and go through the first few screens. Once it gets to the screen where I choose "where" to install windows 7, the only HD it lets me choose is the old HDD with windows xp on it. The SSD shows up, but I can't choose it!
Is it because I've already used it a bit and installed some programs on it?
If I just take out my old HDD for a bit, will it let me install windows 7 onto the SSD because it's the only possible choice?
Looks like clean installing windows 7 on the drive you want with the upgrade disk is possible but during a clean installation is there a choice to install the 32bit or 64bit version.
I am having trouble on a couple of PCs, in that the playback on most players (VLC, Media Player Classic, WMC) is jittery in some cases and fails in others. The jitter occurs when I go from a 108050p source to any sized output but at 25fps (i or p) output. The difference between a smooth play and a jittery play is that if you freeze, the smooth play is blurred, twice as much as it was at 50p, as if some sort of interpolation was being done, while the jittery play when frozen presents a still screen with several distinct ghosts of any moving bit. This is what leads to the flickery appearance.I was told that this was an interlace problem, but I thought interlacing caused horizontal lines on the screen, not ghosting.
I have edited / rendered video in various programmes. I have used AVS4U, Vegas, Adobe Elements and several others. The results are the same.I have tried many formats and codecs, as well as trying interlaced, Upper and Lower FF, as well as Progressive. However, at present, WMPlayer is playing stuff nice and smoothly for me, while none of the others are. All are jittery. In addition to this, WMC refuses to display vob files at all. IT just shows a blank screen, with sound, but only the progress bar at the bottom, ticking off the seconds, with no actual video at all.WMPlayer seems to be the one player that does not allow manipulation of codecs, and it just seems to be working....now.how do I choose what codecs are used by a player to play a file, or how does it choose?
As we all know today's all advance games require dx 10 or more, as recent games are not likely to run on xp any more, i just wanted to know that will it slow down my PC or it will be same as before on xp relative to games of 2010 to 2011. Also will win 7 be same as trouble making as vista.
I was dual booting XP and 7, and after I reformatted my XP partition I no longer get to choose which os during booting. It automatically boots XP. How do get back the screen that lets me choose between XP and 7?

I am running Outlook 2010 32bit with Windows 7 Pro 64bit. After installing google outlook sync (and subsequently uninstalling) an annoying popup window continues to appear when I start outlook. It asks me to Choose Profile. I have only one profile named "outlook". When you click "options" you can check a box that says "check as default profile" This does not make the annoying popup go away. It still pops up the next time you start outlook. After searching the web for a fix I found one promising work around. Access control panel then select "mail" here you go in to outlook profiles and check make outlook the default profile. The problem is this doesn't work with Windows 7 64bit and Outlook 32bit. In the control panel "mail" is grayed out and when you click on it nothing happens. How you can access Outlook profiles with this set-up?

I recently installed Windows 7 on my laptop. However when ever I restart my laptop i have two windows 7 to choose from one works one doesnt. How do i delete the Windows 7 that doesnt work from the bootmgr?
I've installed 7 on a partition with XP already in situ as original OS on C:.
But when the boot manager comes up it won't let me choose the OS to use.
It will only allow me to select the default OS even though both appear on the boot menu screen. The cursor won't move away from the default OS (Which was 7 after I'd installed it).
I changed, ( in the windows 7 system settings) the default OS to XP. And then rebooted and it went into XP so that we can continue with the machine functioning as it was.
But I can't make it boot into Windows 7 and I can't now make 7 the default when I want to, since that option doesn't appear in the XP boot options list.
In effect I can't boot into 7 at all, now.
And even if I could, it wouldn't be much use unless we can choose the OS we need at boot time.
I made sure that the time to choose was sufficiently long. So it's not that causing the problem.
So, how do I make the Boot menu work as it should?
