I have a Toshiba Satellite L3052D that is infected with viruses. I got the restore cd's from Toshiba, but I don't know if I need a separate Windows 7 cd also to get it back to the way it was when I bought it.
I have restored my toshiba satellite L505-S5984 using my restore discs. However, after the restore it will not update Windows or allow me to register the computer with Toshiba. I could certainly use someone's expertise with this issue.
I am trying to fix a Toshiba laptop that failed during a factory restore by the customer and would not complete the restore. I have since tested the ram and hard drive and they are ok. I replaced the faulty cd drive too. The factory restore worked this time, but I keep getting a blue screen during the 'Checking System Performance' stage of the recovery. Windows is installed and all drivers are in as I can see in safe mode but if I try to boot to normal Windows I get the BSOD boot loop and don't know how to bypass it. I have attached a html file of the crash reports from BlueScreenView. The problem appears to be with the ATI display driver, but I am not sure how to update it in safe mode.
have formatted my hard disk and made partition in it to install new windows 7 professional now i cannot find the system recovery to go back to the factory setting status. Unfortunately i couldnt made the system recovery disk before installing the new windows.
i have a blue screen when i reboot and it keeps rebooting, i did manage to see a crash dump in the message in blue box. it doesnt stay up long enough. i want to take it back to factory, but it keeps rebooting. i can go to safe mode but dont know how to take it back to factory from safe mode. i dont have any cd's it didnt come with any.
System Restore will not create a restore point or restore to a previous date & time. The error message was: A restore point could not be created: An error was detected in the Volume Shadow Copy Server (VSS).The problem occurred while trying to contact VSS writers. Verify that the Event System Sevice and the VSS service are running & check for associated errors in the event logs (0x80042318).Volume Shadow Copy is started & running (done in system events).Event System Sevice and the VSS service are started and running. But no cigar, SR still broken.
My Windows 7 System Restore doesn't restore. It allows me to set them and tells me they've been done. But on the couple of occasions when I've wanted to use one, no joy. Yes I know I could possibly do it in 'Safe Mode' but that isn't an answer as to why I can't do it in regular mode?
I had reason to check my System Restore function today and found only 3 points to choose from. One from July 15, 2012, another from 2011 and the last from 2010. Obviously two of them are worthless. I understood that a new restore point should be added each week, or at a major change of some sort. How do I change this so that more points are added as time goes by? One each week would be just fine. I can't find this option in Win 7 as I recall was available in XP.
I have an old HD that I used to use for backups in a different PC setup, and though I deleted those backups when I moved on to a different HD, the backups were recoverable using Pandora and I believe intact since I never used the drive in question after that time. So specifically, I now have a folder called "Backup Set 2011-02-13 190024" that contains a 84 zipped folders worth 13.1GB that comprise that backup, and I want to restore them in some automatic fashion to see what's actually worth salvaging. (I assume this doesn't have to be done one-folder-at-a-time, drilling down through five layers of branches in the folder-tree, and almost immediately forgetting where I am...) But when I look at "Backup and Restore," I can't bring up this or any target folders - the link "Select another backup to restore files from" produces a blank set of choices, and there doesn't appear to be any way to 'load' a particular folder to restore, as I would have expected.
I lost 2987 emails by clicking on email tab in windows task manager All the emails disappeared so now >>??? wondering if Sysytem restore restores email as well with Win 7 are do I have to do like Ive seen ? Go to your documents folder and right click on the folder titled Mail the properties and then the previous versions tab.Click on a restore point from before it was deleted and click restore.
I rebooted my labtop everything came back ok but the webcam application that normally is under utilities i went to toshiba website installed their so called application but it's not doing anything, what can i do to get it back.
I wouldn't go so far to say, I'm totally computer illiterate, but not far from it.. If there's anyone out there, who's up for a challenge I'm running windows 7. I am the administrator. Someone I don't trust at all, used my PC a while back. After he (did whatever he did) I noticed I couldn't access several files. I get a "access denied" or you don't have permission to view this file, owner info etc.. I can see a lot of the files, but their either empty now or I can't view them. I have used restore many times in the past, but now I get a message " no restore points".. I don't know what he did, or if he did anything.. It could be one of my kids changed properties by mistake, before I wised up and created a basic user acct w/ limited access for them.. I almost forgot. When I go into file properties there is a red x by my user name (administrator) Not in every property, but several.. Sometimes there is a red x by other user names, as well, but mostly mine.
I recently installed some updates in my Proline notebook, but after installing the 30 percent, it failed to restart, with the screen showing nothing (as if it's off). I then tried to restore it to an earlier time via safe mode but the restore point available is only the one as at the time of the update. I tried to create a restore point, but when i tried, i cannot even find system protection when i looked for it and it directs me to system properties where my computer's description is blank and it cannot be edited.Even the updates cannot be uninstalled via safe mode.Is there no other options i can try in order to start my laptop normally again?
So I cleaned my registry using RegSeaker and now my computer BSODs at the 'starting windows' screen, even if I try to start in safe mode. I created a backup of my old registry before cleaning and I can access it using the command prompt that you can access in the system restore options. However, when I try to update the registry with it I get an error message saying 'cannot import.
OK, so a couple of days ago, my HP desktop crashed and then went through the whole System Recovery loop(I couldn't login to Safe mode, wouldn't let me past the System Recovery Screen). Well I backed up the entire C drive using Backup your files in the menu. Then it shows you all the file types it will back up; i.e photos, videos, e-mails and bookmarks. So I did that to an external hard drive and it comes out to 143GB.Now comes my problem. I've been able to copy everything from the external hard drive using RecoveryMgr.exe which opens the WIM files and saves them to my C: hard drive under System Recovery Files. However it does not seem to work when it comes to putting in my old Thunderbird e-mails, contacts and such or in Firefox to restore my bookmarks, saved passwords.
I am trying to restore my computer because it launches into system recovery. After I get to the recovery options I tried to do system restore but it tells me there isn't enough space on the disk.
I have tried a lot of things and I can't get system restore to work. I don't need to use it but I would like my computer to be working since there is no reason for this not to work. I just keep getting ComPlusStaging failed to obtain original copy from %systemroot%/registration all the time.
I have been have some problems with my HP dv 8500 laptop. It has vista on it. I could not get any windows updates. So I backed up my files to a flashdrive and did a system recovery. I have files on the flash drive but cannot transfer them back to the laptop. I would love it if someone could guide me through the process.
I have had this problem for quite a while. I'm able to create restore points (and they show up in the list), but I'm unable to 'restore' them... I get the system cannot restore error. I have Norton-Comcast and have deactivated 'tamper protection' with no luck.
System restore failed to extract the file. from the restore point. There was a disk failure during the restore. This might be caused by bad sectors on the disk. I get the same message, but with a different file name, with every restore point I try, and I have now tried all seven available restore points, going back to 30 Dec 2011. The computer was working perfectly until 3 days ago when it blue screened, and has not started properly since. It is a Corei5 with 4 GB RAM and is only 12 months old. I just dont believe the drive has that many bad sectors.
