Acer laptop, came with Windows 7 Home Premium.I purchased an upgrade from Windows 7 Home to 7 Pro by ordering online with Windows Anytime Upgrade.Did the upgrade right from the WAU, using new COA Product Key sent by email.If I made a new set of Recovery DVD's, would they have Home or Pro on them.This is my work laptop and I do a clean reinstall every few months.

I have looked on the acer site and it appears for the 9410 they don't have drivers for windows 7.I tried the vista drivers download but it won't work. Any ideas on how I can get the correct driver? View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I bought the windows upgrade CDs to upgrade my vista PC's to 7. (Big mistake) Wiped out the HD and did the entire install. But every time I open up a video on my WMP it starts to play then stops. The PC then opens up a SV Host program that uses up 80% of the processor. So I have no video playing and my PC won't hardly work at all till I cntrl alt del and close the SV host.
What can I do to make this OS work correctly? The PC is an HP m9500z.
When i turn the computer on i get the screen : setup is starting service. Install Windows. The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click ok to restart the computer, and then restart the installation. I have contacted acer they tried to help with the ALT and F12. Nothing I have tried works.. They told me to order the recovery discs for $20.00. I did , and they dont work either... I contacted them back, and now they say to send it back to them and for $199.00 plus shipping, they will repair the computer..I do not have the money for that..I have the the system disc, the 3 recovery disc and the language disc , that I just ordered from Acer for $20.00.

Checked disk management it shows all 4 primary partitions used: 200mb (boot), 169gb (C drive), 281gb (D drive), 16.5gb Recovery partition. I tried F9 when booting (nothing) just boots into OS. This setup is completely useless to me. Called Asus ($50.) for install disk they said call Microsoft, call Microsoft ($99. new disk) they said call Asus, I've already paid for Win 7 once and i'll be damned if I pay for it again. When formatting is ok'ed, the computer works for a while and then states that formatting failed. I have the same results when trying DVD-R, DVD+R, and DVD+R/W discs.
Acer has given me two sets of instructions on how to creaate recovery disks, but both instruct me to launch programs that don't show up on my "Start - All Programs" menu.Acer has offered to send me recovery disks, but I am concerned why the machine will not make them.I did place recovery files (successfully ?) into the data partition of the hard drive, but this will be of no use with a hard drive failure.

I have an Asus G73 laptop that I am wanting to do a system recovery on. It works but it's very qwirky and has occasional lock ups. Somehow, one of the automatic Windows updates that was installed deleted all of my old restore points, all the way back to when I first bought the thing. Anyway, I can't get it to burn a full set of recovery disks which is apparently not that uncommon with these machine. Asus actualy responded to an inquiry I sent them (although it takes like, two weeks to get each reply. The dialog has been going on for weeks). They told me to go ahead and do the F9 on start up and tell it to restore the OS partition.
- Asus recommended that I just do the "restore Windows to first partition only". This will leave the other partitions as is. I have a second partition that is for data, games, etc. There is also a third partition that is for MS Office 2010 if I ever decided to purchase the program and activate it. I have all the Office software I need from work so I don't need this third partition. Actualy what I would like to do is just have one large partition with everything on it, including the recovery directory and the OS, restored back to exactly like it was the day I got it. Can this be done with the F9 on start up method?
i have a full hard drive and my computer crashed. so i did acer ecovery using F10 to start up and restore my computer to what it was when i got it but keeping my files. well i dont have enough space on the harddrive to do a restore. how can i go about deleting some space for it to put my system back to normal
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to make recovery discs for the Toshiba Satellite laptop. I went throught the Recovery Disc Creator Wizard which informed me to have five DVD discs ready. By following the onboard instructions I completed three discs on Verbatim DVD-R 8.5 GB: Recovery Disc 1 and 2, and a 3rd Windows Recovery Environment disc. However, when I was starting the 4th disc the computer fist failed to acknowledge it and then opened the drawer requiring another disc. The disc was empty as far as I know but I went back to the shop and bought five more discs and the system also rejects these although they are identical. However, the applications disc requirement states either a 4.5 or flashmedia to be inserted to make only one disc. I think I will buy the 4.5 disc and see if it works.

I need 32-bit in order to run certain programs, so I used my Windows 7 Ult DVD and installed it on this laptop. I did not delete the recovery partition that was already on the drive, but I re-installed my own Windows 7 on the partition with the pre-installed Windows 7. This was a mistake... I lack a lot of drivers and pre-compiled software that is not available for download from the manufactor. So, I hope there is a way to make the recovery disk bootable, so I can boot from it in order to respawn the pre-installed Windows 7.

Anyways there are certain functions on my laptop I use . So that's why I didn't do a clean install. But if there is any problem and I need to reinstall windows. I will have to install Vista first . Till SP1 is the best I believe and then again Windows 7 .

Like when i got my laptop I had to make 2 DVD's so I could reinstall windows. Was hoping I could do the same with Windows7 somehow.
Another thing is. I have an English Windows Vista on a machine but will get a Dutch windows 7 upgrade. I don't think I can upgrade from a English to Dutch right? Although the upgrade is Ultimate?
I also can install an English version of Ultimate and use the key from the Dutch ultimate? or is the key from the box really only for the DVD that's in the box ?
I have successfully created a Windows 7 Repair Disc using the "Create a system repair disc" from Control_Panel->Backup_and_Restore
When I attempt to reboot, using the Repair Disc I have just created, everything appears to work - Loads files, Windows wavy flag, etc. however; just as I am about to get into the real stuff I receive the following message:
This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible with the version of Windows you are trying to repair.
This is exactly the ssame message I get if I boot from the original Window 7 DVD and elect Repair option
This is really important to me as when I use F8 during Post I do not have the options to repair the system here either and it freaks me a bit to be unable to repair the system should anything happen
