I am installing Windows 7 from a cd as an ISO file after using ImgBurn I have used many windows ISO files and installed from a CD. I am using a Windows XP ISO instillation right now.I have gotten through 75% of the installation. Past the part where you select which drive you are installing, I am putting the OS on my SSD and currently have XP on my hard drive just so I could use the Internet to do research.I get to the Updating Registry settings part, Windows restarts and continues to go to a black screen which asks me if i want to run in safe mode, safe mode with command prompt, last know good configuration everything I select it continues to do the same thing over and over.
I have disconnected the HD so its only booting from the SSD I have changed the settings in BIOS to boot from the SSD I have tried to BOOT from a USB flash drive nothing I do will work and I have spent about 8 hours in the last 2 days trying to figure this out....I know the computer is fine because I had a burned ISO of windows XP and that installed and is running fine.I believe the problem is Windows 7 is not fully installing... Not that it is installed and wont run properly

A couple days ago the power flickered at my house (all my electronics and computer are hooked up to surge protectors), and when my computer came back on, it got to the starting windows screen with the animated logo, but never got past it to the logon screen. It stayed there for about 15 minutes before I shut it off and ran repair.I ran the repair utility, and it said after a while that it was "unable to repair" the problem, whatever that problem is. I ran bootrec /fixboot and bootrec /fixmbr successfully, but the problem continues. Chkdsk also found no problems. This is where it gets weird. I Reverted to an earlier restore point in hopes that would do it, and it still hung up on the startup screen. Last known good also made no difference. I got desperate and loaded a previous image of my computer (which took almost 6 hours), I left it re-imaging while I went to work, when I got home, it had completed, and was sitting on the windows startup screen, just like before. That's where I started to panic a bit.I reformatted the computer, as a last act of desperation to get my computer at least working, nevermind my data. It worked at first, I got in once it completed the install, but after installing some of my drivers and doing a few restarts, it once again hung up on the startup screen. The drivers I was using before all this happened I had been using for months with no problem, restarts included.
I'm an IT student who got a free Win 7 x64 disk from my school, and I am unable to do a clean install. My system specs are as follows:
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.12 Ghz nVidia GeForce 9800 GTX 512 MB PCI-e 320 GB Western Digital HD SATA 1 Gb DDR2 1066 MHz and 2x2Gb DDR2 1066 MHz SDRAM
I set my boot sequence to boot from DVD-ROM drive first, and HD second. It goes to the "Windows is loading files" screen and gets hung up. I started the process and went to watch TV for an hour, and it is still on the "Windows is loading files" screen. I haven't gotten any error messages. I've unplugged all USB devices from my computer as I have seen on this forum that it has worked for some people.
edited to add: I originally had only 2 Gb of RAM, and it got hung up at the "Windows is loading files" screen. I thought it was getting hung up because I didn't have enough RAM, so I bought brand new 2 sticks of 2 Gb RAM. I took out one of the 1 Gb sticks and placed both of the 2 Gb of RAM...for a total of 5 Gigs. And, it is still doing the same thing.
When I attempt to shut the computer down (Windows 7 Ultimate x64) it hangs at the Shutting Down screen... for hours... never actually shuts down. After 20-30 seconds there is no disk activity, so I just power it off or reset it and it's fine. Because of this method I worry about losing one of my disks, having already lost my backup storage disk as a result of this issue. In troubleshooting I have done the following: *Logged all the way out of all profiles and then with no one logged in clicked on shutdown, but I have the same issue, so I am thinking that it is a SYSTEM process that is causing the hang up. *Briefly checked Event Viewer and didn't notice anything. *There was a Microsoft FixIt that I applied that was related to this, but it did not fix the issue (can't remember the KB article number). So, I was hoping that someone could give me some advice on a good program or batch file to run that will do a good job at logging events during the shutdown process. Obviously Windows itself does this, but I was thinking more along the lines of logging specific Services as they are stopped.
have installed a new sound card as my on-board pin had broken, now when i try to shutdown my PC will not fully shutdown.i have to hold in button to turn off , witch means it now starts up in safe mode, i have updated all drivers and disabled and enabled all hardware but to no avail.
The Easy Transfer created 7 .mig files of which only 3 have been moved from my external hard drive to my C drive. All 7 are still in the external hard drive including the 3 in the C drive. How do I get them to finish transferring to my C drive. This is what I have to do-right?
I'm working on a neighbor's computer that had a number of viruses on it. I ran four different virus scanners that I placed on a boot DVD to get rid of them but it appears that the viruses may have roughened up the registry. The computer is an IBM Lenovo model A55 ThinkCentre with Windows 7 Ultimate installed. What is happening is after you click on either the Administrator or User icon to log in, you get a black background for a desktop, a mouse pointer, and a task window but nothing else. I have to close explorer.exe and re-load it in order to get Windows 7 to finish loading. Once I do that, everything appears fine except for the fact that I can't get any windows updates. I installed Comodo security suite offline from my thumb drive but it won't update either. I have already tried downloading and running the Windows 7 update readiness tool which says everything is fine with the registry. I then downloaded and burned a copy of SP1 from my computer to DVD and tried installing it but after the reboot, it says there was an error and couldn't complete and then gives the following code.... 0x800f0826.
So i burned an .ISO Windows 7 ultimate ( 64 bit ) right now im running on ( 32 bit ) I can't install directly trought dekstop because i get this error "this installation disc isin't comaptible with your version of windows.." So i tried to boot with installation disc, after "setup is loading files" or something, i just get a windows 7 start up screen no letters or anything it just stays there. Only the cursor blue wheel thingy spins for few seconds. I tried different installation files.
I have a brand new set up that is running windows 7 64 bit on a ASrock H61M-GE, supports UEFI (not sure if it is automatically enabled) with a 3TB hdd that is the boot drive. There are no other hard drives available on the computer. Windows has only recognized 1.99TB of the drive in the OS, the other 7XXGB are unallocated. I would like this drive to be in "one piece" and be booted from. How should I go about making this work?
about an hour ago my screen froze and the computer became unresponsive. I found it a bit wierd that it turned off as soon as I pressed the power button as normally it takes about 5 seconds to do this. Upon rebooting (and going through the 'start windows normally' thing I got a BSOD saying something along the lines of:'the bios in this system is not fully acpi compliant windows 7'anyway I googled this and fiddled around in BIOS a bit discovering that my 'acpi 2.0 support' option wasn't enabled so I've changed this. Also some people seemed to suggest removing each RAM module individually and testing each one etc so I did this also to the same effect. After putting them both back in I no longer got the above error message but this one:'a problem has been detected:memory_management...etc'Rebooted again and the BSOD I now encounter and have ever since says:
I've since tried booting safe mode, debugging mode etc but each time I do this the computer just reboots and takes me back to the 'do you want to start windows normally or start windows repair' screen. The second option ends up with either a non responsive black screen that can only be escaped by powering off or the above (last) mentioned blue screen. It might be worth noting; as my research suggests this is something to do with software drivers, that windows did a fairly massive update last night. Although I was able to run my computer for a few hours playing games/internet until this happened. Also in the past couple of months I have upgraded the RAM and GPU but the computer seemed to run fine with these for the weeks since.
How can I get the most out of my fresh Windows 7 installation? I have a Lenovo B570 with a 2nd Gen i3 processor and 4GB DDR3 RAM. 500 GB HD.I use my computer daily and work from home on my computer. I run a lot of memory intense programs and software so full optimization is necessary. I almost always have multiple programs open. I would like to know what programs I should get(ie Tune Up Utilities, Advanced System care) for optimization
My system builder pack warnings refer to a "fully assembled computer system." I bought it to install on a new system C: drive, but I need to add two data drivers (D: and E later.
How to full format my laptop hard drive. I have already Re install windows 7 in E: drive. Previously I have win-7 in C: drive after encounter some problems, Re-install new Windows 7 but that time I didn't format the hard disk that's why its install in drive E. Now when start the up of the lap top both selection are coming will start with old win or new win-7...and having some trouble with my windows 7 that's why I want to full format the hard dive without bootable disk and install new win-7.
I had windows xp on it, however due to a virus, it crashed. For time being I started using Ubuntu O.S. The grub shows windows xp and the Ubuntu. When I click on Windows, it tries to load and then blue screen. Now, I want to reinstall a windows xp on this machine, using my another laptop (dell) installation cd.The setup starts and after it loads some drivers and tries to start windows setup, I get a blue screen saying that I either have virus or I need to format the HDD.
I have previously installed Windows 7 and recieved the same error and tried it again and it worked, but the installation seemed unstable and I recieved many Blue Screen Errors. In an attempt to correct this I tried to reinstall Windows 7. In doing so I have wiped my hard drive for a fresh install.I placed the Windows 7 Installation DVD in and proceeded with the install. When I got to the 'expanding files 20+%' the installation stops and I recieve an error stating:"Windows cannot install required files. The file may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070570"In an attempt to correct this I have transferred the files to a USB external hard drive and have got to the same point in the installation and recieved the same error message. My next step is to download an ISO off the internet and using this as my DVD might contain a corrupt file.
I had previously been running Vista 32, however after reading up a bit (obviously not as much as I should have) I decided to upgrade my old machine with 4 gb of DDR2 (up from 2gb) and Win 7 64 bit. As can be seen in my system specs, my processor is a Pentium D 3.2 (840 i believe), and going on a thread a I read stating that a dual core can handle 64 bit I got that version. Install has been a nightmare, first it would give me an error that (according to forums) is a result of bad memory, tried everything with that (swapping out to my old memory that was fine, going from 4 to 2 gb... no dice) Next I took the drives out, and installed win 7 on them using a different machine (I have a much newer/nicer build as well, this is a second machine). Install went fine, so i moved the drives back to the other machine and I'm getting a BSOD on start up (and its a quick BSOD, cant even read it, flashes a second then reboots)... every time. I am a mouse click from ordering the 32 bit version but dont want to drop another $100 only to find out that maybe thats not my problem. Given that the machine was running fine with vista on it (even with the new memory) I am inclined to think this is not faulty hardware, just maybe incompatible software (the 64 bit version that is).
I'm trying to install a windows 7 home premium on a laptop but it wont let me.
when i put the CD in and boot from CD everything goes well it loads his files and i can select the language settings, than i click to install and i need to choose between upgrade and clean install, if i choose clean install the click to install window appears again, i can do this all day cause it keeps looping the same process.
i tried to install vista as well but same results than i thought lets install windows xp to do a upgrade install but installing xp wasn't successful either.
My laptop is a Dell inspiron 1545, not actually sure about other stuff of hardware.Sofware Windows 7 Home Basic with original dell Recover Cd.wo months ago, I was working in some homework when it freezes at all, and stays that way for about 10 minutes, so I force the shut down. When I restarted, It ask for a Start Repair, so I do, but It was unable to Repair... I mean, it was actually unable to enter to the repair options neither from the Repair CD... just freezes at the Win background image and no options shown... I wasn't sure what to do because I wasn't even able to format from the CD, I tried Live Cd's, but was the same problem, Win just didn't charge, so I download Ubuntu and decided to installed it over Windows after backing up all my files... then I run the Win Recover CD and reinstall Win 7... It was ok until yesterday, when the exact same problem began! The computer freezes, I force the shot down again (after nearly 5 hours, because I was afraid the same problem to happen and didn't want to format again and reinstall all my programs)... finally I've got the same exact problem, so I back up my new files and very unhappy try the past solution, only this time I wasn't able to Reinstall Win 7, even I format all partitions... I have being trying like 100 times and it always the same: the laptop freezes during installation (while compleating installation) and it's unable to do anything else, but reinstall Ubuntu.
doing a clean install of windows 7 home 32bit ,using gen copy of windows, asus pdg51 mother board,775 processor 4gb memory ,new dvd and wd 1tb hard drive install runs fine through up when trys to copyies the files etc then say unable to continue.
I recently decided to upgrade to windows 7 Professional 32 bit. Before I could do so however, I was interrupted by an error telling me that "Autorun could not be read because it is "Corrupted?". I run on Windows XP Professional x64. My computer is a Dell Inspiron 530;
4 Gigs of RAM ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT intel core 2 quad Q6600 2.4 ghz
I work on computers for extra income so I've installed operating systems numerous times but this one has me stuck. I received a Dell 700m netbook that need a clean install done, I was in the middle of installing Windows 7 when the power cord came loose causing the laptop to shut off without completing the install. Since then when booting from the hard drive I get a "windows failed to install" error message, when booting from the disk to try a fresh install I get to "starting services" screen at which point the laptop restarts. I've ran diagnostics on it, everything passed. Tried using repair disk, ran 3 times got nothing. Went to advanced startup and tried using cmd prompt but was given an error message.
Recently out of the blue my computer started telling me that the bootmgr was corrupt or missing.Since then I have tried every possibility to resolve the problem, including buying a new HHD.All seems well when I rewrite the MBR, no errors and the program loads. After that the MBR is messed up again - it's a nightmare
i tried installing windows on boot because of one of my partitions going to RAW so i formatted it i tried installing windows on two other hard drives same thing ut i tried installing windows on my laptop work perfectly during the installation this pops up i dont know what to do so can you please help me
"Windows cannot copy files required for installation. The files may becorrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation areavailable, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070241"
so I've got Win7 32-bit and Win7-64bit DVDs that are both unscratched and aren't missing any data. On my PC(information below), I can install 32-bit just fine, but I get an error when attempting to install 64-bit(in the "Expanding Windows files" section each time). I have 8GB of ram, a 1TB HDD(WD), I've had Win7-64 bit installed on it before(got accidentally erased when attempting to install Ubuntu Linux to a second partition). That's about all you should need to know.
Trying to install Windows 7 on a machine that currently has Ubuntu.Fort the install I'm using a USB DVD drive, but for some reason it won't install the system.Have changed the boot order in the bios, trying both USB DVD and normal CD/DVD but no joy - just loads Ubuntu from the hard disk.
I'm trying to install windows 7 through a bootable usb. When I get to "expanding windows files", the % stays @ 0. I've waited long with it at that point and nothing. Everything is being detected by my BIOS. no previous OS installed as it is a clean install.

I'm really annoyed at this point. I tried to boot ubunto ( free os ) through a usb and it worked fine. I can't seem to get past the "expanding windows files 0%..." while trying to install windows 7. I've disabled all legacy usb3.0's. SATA ports set to ACHI. All that is connected is mouse keyboard and usb. Apart from all the components connected in the mobo This is my first time ever building a custom PC and this being the result really makes me angry ):.
i wanted to install windows seven on my system by booting from the cd rom but when it starts loading the files, it gets to a point where my system displays an error code.
Could not install windows 7 ultimate.Had first formatted hard disk. Started window on disk and has gone through all the steps except the last. Fail at one of the reboot during installation.
For several months I have had problems each day when asked to install "Windows Updates", some days I get 4 or 5 updates or more, for a long time it installed all except one. This has now expanded so I have three updates that will not install for some reason. It creates a restore point then tries and fails each time. I am using Norton Antivirus and have even disabled that, but I still can get the updates to install. I have never had this problem before. I also have a laptop and another PC computer that has done these updates, so why problems with this one? It's driving me crazy.I am enclosing a copy of the error message I get together with the list of failed attempts (only recent ones).
