View 3 RepliesI've been in contact with MS Support, about that in the Windows 7 Sound panel there is no longer the ability to change MIDI Port from the internal GS Wavetable synth, and got confirmed that they've removed this, both for Vista and Windows 7"The ability to choose a different hardware or software MIDI synthesizer other than the default Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth has been removed from the user interface for audio configuration in Windows Vista/Windows 7. A different output MIDI synth or output device port can be selected only by editing the registry".I really want to select the MPU-401 compatible MIDI Port, so I can make use of my old Roland MT-32 and the old Sierra games through DOS-Box

View 7 Replies View Relatedi have 64bit vista home premium and will want to upgrade to windows 7.
but am unsure it get the windows 7 upgrade or full.
my vista has been having all kinds of issues (at least i think its vista and not the computer). been getting errors with media center tv (which i dont use anyways), and windows programs sometimes running slow and/or freezing up (which i dont think it should being that i got 4GB ram). i have even done full reinstallations of the OS back to factory condition a couple of times (thinking it might have been a virus or to wipe away corrupted files and essentially start over), yet the same problems persist.
if i do a windows 7 upgrade, does that put windows 7 on my computer as it would if i had done a full clean install?? (i know the upgrade leaves my programs and personal files in place). i am just worried that if my problems are the vista OS and i upgrade to windows 7, that the upgrade will "recycle" vista files it needs, and that if those files are the ones causing me problems now, that my problems will persist with windows 7.
I've been having a major problem with for over several months. I've recently started to make music and I'm interested in using some of the MIDI capabilities on several of the instruments I have, mainly drum machines and synthesizers. The problem is Windows 7 is not detecting these MIDI to USB interface devices and instruments I have.I've tried using three interface devices so far with no luck what-so-ever. I've tried different two types of MIDI to USB cables, these are generally small, and they both work because I tested them on my friends Macbook and they were 100% functional. So, I decided maybe I should get a better piece of recording equipment, thinking there would be better platform support, so I purchased a Focusrite Saffire 6 USB, low and behold, I had the same problem! The MIDI to USB cables and the Focusrite interface detect the MIDI IN coming from the MIDI OUT port of the instrument, however Windows is not reading the converted MIDI information running through the USB cable into the computer. Here's a list of the solutions I've tried.Updating my chipset drivers. Uninstalling and re-installing chipset drivers. Un-installing and re-installing my sound drivers. Using the latest USB drivers (and even beta drivers) and utilities provided by the interface products. Trying different USB ports assuming it was a power issue. Uninstalling and re-installing the product drivers, rolling back to older drivers as well. Updating Windows. Tested under two different DAWS; CuBase and Sony ACID. I also tried different stand-alone soft-synths, they didn't detect the MIDI devices either. I've tried a few obscure MIDI drivers I dug up from a few places, but to no avail, I un-installed them. I've tried sacrificing 3 goats to Microsoft, that didn't work either. I'm convinced that this is a Windows / Hardware compatibility issue. I'm tempted to get a Mac product so I don't have to worry about this time pilfering fiasco. If anyone would like to take a stab at this I would be very grateful. Here's my system specs:

I tried to attach a M-audio 88es USB MIDI keyboard to my Dell Studio 1747 laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium x64). The keyboard is correctly identified on the USB, M-audio's drivers installed and this shows up in any MIDI software I start, but nothing can be transmitted from the keyboard to the computer. The usb keyboard works with other computers, and the Dell Studio sound system can play MIDI files. To make sure I alternated to an external Creative XFi soundblaster audio unit, which should have all MIDI capabilities, but again no sound from the keyboard (actually, a field in the recording software would show up if MIDI instructions were received).
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am considering getting rid of my CME-UF5 Midi keyboard since there is no possibility of running it under Windows 7 and purchasing something new. Although I did like the quality and weight of the keys with CME vs M-Audio, I suspect M-Audio would have much better driver support and customer support for future updates, CME was certainly lacking in this department considering they didn't even provide a Vista driver for this damn thing. I browsed through forums and it seems that someone had created their own Vista driver for it by modyfing the XP one while others claimed that due to the hardware inside this keyboard, there would be no way to run it outside of an 32bit XP environment.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Roland PC-200 mkII midi controller connected to the PC via a MIDI to USB converter. The system claims to recognise it, and sets up a USB2.0-MIDI device with two hardware items: USB Composite Device and USB2.0-MIDI (sound, video and game controllers).
The keyboard is recognised - and sends MIDI signals. However, it will only send one at a time now, meaning it will only play single notes rather than chords. This is independent of whatever programme runs with it, indicating that it's a problem between the keyboard and Windows 7. The keyboard worked properly on Vista32 and previously on XP.
My mobo will not accept a direct MIDI (game port) connection, so I have no choice but to use the converter.
Am I missing any settings in Windows 7?
I'm having problems getting my Usb MIDI to work in my music software. It used to work, but one day it just magically stopped working. I was about to make a dumb mistake and buy a new $60 Usb MIDI cable, but then I checked in device manager and I noticed that Windows WAS recognizing the Usb MIDI cable. It even said "This device is working properly." The MIDI Input light on the cable blinks when I press the keyboard's(piano) keys when I first plug it in, then stops after a while. It's supposed to be plug-n-play. When I first got it, no driver download was needed. I plugged it in, and it worked. I was thinking it may need a driver update? Or maybe a new driver? [code]
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Yamaha YPT-300 model keyboard that I am attempting to hook up to my Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit machine via a MIDI-to-USB cable. (The cable came with this eMedia USB MIDI Keyboard Interface Kit.) The drivers for the USB/MIDI cable installed without issue, but my system does not appear to recognize the Yamaha keyboard. I attempted to install the Yamaha USB-MIDI driver, but it raises an error. ("Error 25001. No device is connected. Connect a device, and try again.") The MIDI/USB cable has two lights that blink when everything's working properly; one of the lights is blinking, the other is not. The light that isn't blinking appears to be related to the plug for the MIDI IN jack on the keyboard, if that helps. Some of the simpler stuff ... I've got the MIDI IN and MIDI OUT cables plugged into the right jacks on the keyboard. (i.e., the MIDI IN plug goes to MIDI OUT jack, and vice versa -- it makes sense when you think about it.) The cables are not loose. I've googled all around for an answer, but I've found nothing but dozens of topics with no solutions or topics addressing something else altogether. And yes, I have tried turning it off and on again.

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit. I have a generic MIDI-USB cable. I plug it in, Windows recognizes it, and installs a driver. I plug the MIDI In cable into the Out socket of a Yamaha PSR260 keyboard, and Out into In, and power on the keyboard. On the MIDI-USB cable, the red power light is on, and the In LED is flashing. So far, so good, but now I'm having troubles.
I think that I need to install a Yamaha MIDI driver in order for Windows to recognize my device. I downloaded the UM312x64 package, but when I run setup.exe, it gives me "Error 25001. No device is connected."
I run my Dell XPS 17 in live performance using multiple midi devices. I had a problem of the midi ports available being filled do to doubled up instances and had to go into the registry to clean out the copied instances.I have done that before; but, this time I accidentally deleted the primary midi driver (midi REG_SZ wdmaud.drv)Where can I find this driver to replace the one deleted?

Partitioned the hard drive to install Vista Home Premium 32bit to create a dual boot system solely to run these two programs. Can't get Vista to load. Followed tutorial meticulously. All goes fine until the "Vista will boot for the first time" step. After this first boot, the screen returns to the "completing installation" page. However, the process dies here and the progress bar across the bottom of the screen never moves, even after an hour. Reformatted the partition and started over with same results. Multiple attempts always die after the first boot.

I've looked all over the MS site and don't see a method I can use to Activate Windows 7 from this point. way to use my legitimate Windows disks and keys without having to wipe the drive, install Vista and then install Windows 7 yet again.
