I recently installed WINDOWS 7 into an IBM T-43 {I loveto refurbish, build compter HARDWARE myself}.Among the, regular, things happening (THE most annoying is the constant Error 2010 ALWAYS displaying at boot-up );QUESTION: How do I turn-off the 3d, accelerator [?], to idsplay 2D because my present computer dodes NOT have a 3D video card . {?}

I tried downloading it again with the wizard but it said it said the wizard was interrupted and try again when I do it does the same thing. i tried downloading it from the Windows site and after downloading the pop up said "You do not need to install this software because Windows Defender is included in Windows Vista (I have Windows 7) You can access Windows Defender from the security section of the Windows Control Panel". Again, I tried this but when I click on the words "turn Defender on" it just keeps going on and on without doing anything.

She has a wifi connection and would like to listen to a specific radio station at night while she falls asleep. At present she listens to a station via itunes when I come to visit and I get the station for her.I wonder can a computer that is off be made to boot or does it have to be in hibernation or stand by to come on and where in windows 7 do I make the settings as to what time of day to come alive or on from being off. And I assume the same place is where I will have to put in settings to power off or go into stand by or hibernation. So first off is this possible?
I am a Mac guy so not sure but I think I already know where and how to tell it if a particular wifi is present to connect with it also if it loses the connection will it automatically reacquire that network?If the above is possible can I get itunes or Internet explorer or firerfox or other internet browser to startup and go and connect to a radio stations live feed via wifi without having to manually click on any button on the page?Is what I want to do very complicated and could be prone to hang or freeze and she would have to be computer savvy to get it all going again which like I said above she is not. Could she just hold down the laptops power button shut down and then repress to restart and it would come back on and all would be able to pick up where it left off?Do I approach this as have itunes always runningconnected to the station could the computer be made to go to standby or hibernation at a specific time and itunes would continue to run just not make noise so when it comes out of stand by or hibernation it will be on and connected streaming the radio stations music?
After loading several AV programs/scanners due to trying to eliminate a virus, I wanted to confirm my Windows Firewall was turned on. When I went to Control Panel/Windows Firewall and clicked on "Turn Windows Firewall On or Off", all I saw in the "Customize settings for each type of network" window was the button "Use recommended settings" within a box called "Update your firewall settings". When I clicked on that button, nothing happened. Contrary to the picture shown in the Windows 7 Help pages, there was no option to actually turn the firewall on/off in this particular window. My intention is to simply verify the Windows Firewall is turned on after this virus happened.My questions are:1) Could an AV program/scanner program that I loaded have caused the Windows Firewall to be disabled (or replaced)? How do I know which AV programs have their own built-in firewall?2) Assuming my Windows Firewall should be turned on, how can I verify it really is turned on?

I also got a notification that I would need to restart my computer in order to turn off UAC. Since I did not want to turn off UAC, I went back in, and turned the UAC back on. I then ran a virus scan with Norton. It didnt seem to find my virus, so I just shut down the computer.Winupgro.exe no longer shows up in task manager, but I cannot turn on Windows Security Center - getting the dialog box "The Windows Security Center service can't be started".Malwarebytes was able to find and remove it, but I still cannot open windows security center (after a restart).I used FreeCommander to run create md5 checksums. After searching the output file, I did not find any references to winupgro or its checksum string.

View 0 Replies View RelatedBeen having shutdown issues for the last several weeks following some issues i was having with an SSD drive and after a few hours of some hard soul serching in safe mode boots, i figured out that its an Nvidia driver that stops the machine from powering down after i hit the shutdown on Windows 7, i've tried reinstalling old drivers as well as the latest ones but i still get the same issue, it shuts down and powers off just fine NO PROBLEM!!! when i uninstall the nvidia drivers, but the second i load them back into windows i get the same problem again, i've been trying to sort this bloody mess out for 2 weeks or more, and finally got it pined to the nvidia drivers.
Spec is : Phenom II X6 1080XT / 8GB DDR3 1333 / 2 EVGA GTX 560 Ti's in SLi mode/ 1TB 7200RPM HDD / ASUS M4N75TD Motherboard / BFG 1000WATT PSU / Using Antec DF-85 case
I've done bios settings and cleared the bios completely, nothing is overclocked, everything is at factory defualts, i've tried updating the bios , and i've also disabled the SLI mode and nothing effected it, and also done several install of windows. One last thing, it shurts down and turns off perfectly fine in safe mode.
The IEE host bus controller in device manager tweak doesn't work, it doesn't matter if the power saving box is checked or not.
the list is just empty after loading. I've tried running sfc /scannow, system restoring back, I've ran a chkdsk on C:, I created a new admin account to see if it worked, I even tried this command: reg delete HKLMCOMPONENTS /v StoreDirty but still no luck.
